The mass transfer process in a perforated rotating disk contactor (PRDC) using a toluene-acetone-water system was investigated.The volumetric overall mass transfer coefficients are calculated in a PRDC column.Both mass transfer directions are considered in experiments.The influences of operating variables containing agitation rate,dispersed and continuous phase flow rates and mass transfer in the extraction column are studied.According to obtained results,mass transfer is significantly dependent on agitation rate,while the dispersed and continuous phase flow rates have a minor effect on mass transfer in the extraction column.Furthermore,a novel empirical correlation is developed for prediction of overall continuous phase Sherwood number based on dispersed phase holdup,Reynolds number and mass transfer direction.There has been great agreement between experimental data and predicted values using a proposed correlation for all operating conditions. 相似文献

Dolomite, a natural adsorbent, was used for removal of Ag(I), Cu(II) and Co(II) from aqueous solutions. Adsorption parameters including pH, temperature and contact time have been investigated to obtain adsorption mechanism. The results of experiments showed that adsorption of the metal ions increased by increasing pH values up to 5.5. The adsorption process was initially fast. Equilibrium isotherm data were analyzed using Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm models. Maximum adsorption capacity of Ag(I), Cu(II) and Co(II) was 1.34, 1.63 and 2.84 mg/g at 20 oC, respectively. Kinetic models including Lagergren first-order and pseudo-second-order were used to test kinetic data. The results showed that pseudo-second-order has good agreement with experimental data. Thermodynamic parameters of the process were also investigated at different temperatures. The negative values of Gibbs free energy and enthalpy changes for Ag(I), Cu(II) and Co(II) indicated the spontaneous and exothermic nature of the adsorption process. 相似文献

Nickel hydroxide was deposited via cathodic electrodeposition from low-temperature 0.005 M NiCl2 bath without using any surfactant or template. The cathodic current density was 1 mA cm−2 and stainless steel was used as the cathode. The XRD pattern confirmed that the prepared sample has a pure brucite crystal phase of β-Ni(OH)2 and the broadening of diffraction peaks showed that the particles size of the prepared β-Ni(OH)2 is extremely small. Thermal behavior and composition of the prepared β-Ni(OH)2 were investigated by DSC-TG and FT-IR analyses. Morphological characterization by SEM and TEM revealed that β-Ni(OH)2 is composed of well dispersed ultrafine particles with size of about 5 nm. The electrochemical properties of the prepared nanoparticles were studied by means of cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge-discharge tests in 1 M KOH. The prepared β-Ni(OH)2 nanoparticles showed excellent capacitance behavior of 740 F g−1 in the potential window of 0-0.55 V vs. Ag/AgCl. These results make the β-Ni(OH)2 nanoparticles as a promising candidate for the supercapacitor electrodes. 相似文献

In dogs subjected to gravitational overloadings (+Gx) according to a special training schedule the wall structure of the main arteries (carotid, humeral, femoral and aorta) was studied by histological methods. The amount of catecholamines (adrenaline and noradrenaline) in the venous blood plasma and in the adrenal tissue was the index of the sympathoadrenal system condition. It was demonstrated that in trained animals the tolerance threshold to continuously increasing overloadings (+Gx) rose. It was accompanied by an elevated amount of catecholamines in blood and the adrenals In the walls of the main arteries studied a moderate hyperelastosis and a slight collagenization of the adventitia was noted. All parts of the microcirculatory bed were moderately dilated, which favoured a better blood outflow. The data obtained demonstrate adaptational changes, which can be interpreted as indices of training and reliability of the organism. 相似文献

A role for GH in the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy has long been postulated. Previous clinical studies, however, have been confounded by hyperglycemia. We have identified 2 cases of retinopathy associated with exogenous GH therapy in nondiabetic patients. Cases were identified through the MedWatch drug surveillance system of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Causality by concomitant medications was excluded by a search of the literature and the FDA data base. The first patient, an obese, 31-yr-old male with traumatic hypothalamic injury, presented with nonproliferative retinopathy and macular edema, resulting in decreased visual acuity (OD 20/40-1; OS count fingers), which required laser surgery. Human GH had been initiated at 0.009 mg/ kg.day, 14 months earlier, and titrated to 0.017 mg/kg.day. The second patient, a nonobese, 11-yr-old girl receiving GH for the management of short stature in Turner's Syndrome, presented with neovascularization. GH doses were 0.033 mg/kg.day for the first 17 months and 0.043 mg/ kg.day for the following 5 months. Cumulative laboratory and clinical observations suggest that GH and related peptides have a role in retinal pathology independent of the degree of glucose tolerance. 相似文献
