A reactor model for the single‐phase rotor–stator spinning disk reactor based on residence time distribution measurements is described. For the experimental validation of the model, the axial clearance between the rotor and both stators is varied from 1.0 × 10?3 to 3.0 × 10?3 m, the rotational disk speed is varied from 50 to 2000 RPM, and the volumetric flow rate is varied from 7.5 × 10?6 to 22.5 × 10?6 m3 s?1. Tracer injection experiments show that the residence time distribution can be described by a plug flow model in combination with 2–3 ideally stirred tanks‐in‐series. During the transport of natural gas through pipelines small amounts of condensate can be formed due to temperature and pressure changes. If this natural gas/condensate flow arrives at a regular, sharp-edged T-junction in the pipeline system an interesting phenomenon may be observed i.e. unequal phase splitting of gas and condensate. In this paper its has been shown that the addition of hydrogen into a natural gas stream results in a different splitting behaviour in comparison with the natural gas flow without hydrogen addition. 相似文献

New density measurements of methane (CH4) at 298.15 K up to 1 GPa are reported. The precision of the measurements is 0.03%, while the estimated accuracy is between 0.05 and 0.1%. Velocities of sound have been remeasured between 148.15 and 298.15 K at intervals of 25 K and at pressures up to 1 GPa, with an estimated accuracy of 0.12% at 100 M Pa, 0.10% at 150 MPa, and 0.08% above 150 MPa. Comparisons with experimental results and equations of state of other workers are presented. The isothermal and the adiabatic compressibility and the ratio of specific heats have been calculated at 298.15 K. 相似文献

In the past several types of synthetic porous materials have been made as meniscus reconstruction materials. Most of these
materials lacked a good combination between suitable mechanical properties and a high interconnectivity. In this work porous
scaffolds were made from the polyurethane Estane 5701-F1 by freeze drying of a dioxane and water solution in combination with
salt leaching. It was possible to obtain very porous scaffolds with a very high interconnectivity. Porosity, pore size and
interconnectivity can be independently adjusted by varying the amount of water, porogen size and the amount of porogen used.
The obtained compression moduli of the scaffolds were between 40 kPa and 400 kPa with a variation in porosity between 72 and

Single-phase microreactors and micro-heat-exchangers have been widely used in industrial and scientific applications over the last decade. In several cases, operation of microreactors has shown that their expected efficiency cannot be reached either due to non-uniform distribution of reactants between different channels or due to flow maldistribution between individual microreactors working in parallel. The latter problem can result in substantial temperature deviations between different microreactors resulting in thermal runaway which could arise from an exothermic reaction. Thus advances in the understanding of heat transfer and fluid flow distribution continue to be crucial in achieving improved performance, efficiency and safety in microstructured reactors used for different applications. This paper presents a review of the experimental and numerical results on fluid flow distribution, heat transfer and combination thereof, available in the open literature. Heat transfer in microchannels can be suitably described by standard theory and correlations, but scaling effects (entrance effects, conjugate heat transfer, viscous heating, and temperature-dependent properties) have often to be accounted for in microsystems. Experiments with single channels are in good agreement with predictions from the published correlations. The accuracy of multichannel experiments is lower due to flow maldistribution. Special attention is devoted to theoretical and experimental studies on the effect of a flow maldistribution on the thermal and conversion response of catalytic microreactors. The review concludes with a set of design recommendations aimed at improving the reactor performance. 相似文献

Unexpectedly large amounts of CO adsorption have resulted from a pulse adsorption experiment at 323 K, giving about 300% Pt dispersion in a Pt/cerium-based oxide catalyst. An in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopic investigation on a Pt/cerium-based oxide during CO adsorption has revealed that carbonate species on the cerium oxide surface are responsible for the unrealistically large CO adsorption at 323 K, as a result of CO spillover. Lowering the temperature to 195 K considerably diminished the amount of CO adsorption. The size of the Pt particles in the Pt/cerium-based oxide catalyst was determined by CO pulse adsorption at 195 K and showed good agreement with the particle size determined by X-ray diffraction and low energy ion scattering. This indicates that CO pulse adsorption at 195 K is a useful technique to reliably estimate the Pt particle size in a Pt/cerium-based oxide catalyst. 相似文献

Bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR) and peak expiratory flow (PEF) variability are associated expressions of airway lability, yet probably reflect different underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms. We investigated whether both measures can be used interchangeably to identify subjects who are susceptible to ambient air pollution. Data on BHR (>= 20% fall in FEV1), PEF variability (ampl%mean PEF > 5% on any day during an 8-d period with low air pollution levels) and diary data on upper and lower respiratory symptoms, cough, and phlegm were collected in 189 subjects (48-73 yr). The acute effects (lag0) of particulate matter with a diameter less than 10 micrometers (PM10), black smoke, SO2 and NO2 on the prevalence of symptoms were estimated with logistic regression. In subjects with airway lability, both when expressed as PEF variability (69%) and BHR (28%), the prevalence of symptoms increased significantly with increasing levels of air pollution, especially in those with the greater PEF variability (n = 55, 29%). We found no such consistent positive associations in adults without airway lability. PEF variability, and to a smaller extent BHR, can be used to identify adults who are susceptible to air pollution. Though odds ratios were rather low (ranging from 1.13 to 1.41), the impact on public health can be substantial because it applies to large populations. 相似文献

A mutant cholera toxin B subunit containing a G33E substitution was constructed and expressed in V. cholerae. The G33E amino acid substitution did not affect the amount of recombinant CTB secreted to the culture medium. The overexpression of the mutant B subunits in wild-type toxigenic cholera vibrios led to an 80% decrease in production of active cholera toxin in vitro and in vivo. Overexpression of BG33E subunits could be instrumental in the increase of the biosafety of live attenuated cholera candidate vaccine strains. 相似文献
