Recent findings on the nutritive value of rapeseed oil (RSO) with high erucic acid content have been compared to those of
canbra oil (CO), an oil extracted from newly bred Canadian rapeseed with no erucic acid. Erucic acid in diets retards animal
growth even if food consumption is not altered. Growth performances of CO are as good as olive or peanut oil. The unbalanced
ratio of palmitic acid to monoethylenic acids of CO does not affect rat growth rate. Because of its glyceride structure and
high content of erucic acid, RSO has a lower digestibility (81%) than CO (96%) in the rat. Unabsorbed erucic acid is not preferentially
excreted as calcium soaps. Interesterification of RSO which converts 31.7% of the erucic chains to the 2 position improves
digestibility of erucic acid. 2-Monoerucin is more efficiently absorbed than the free acid. In vivo metabolic conversion of
erucic to oleic acid has been proved in the rat. β-oxidation of injected 14-14C labeled erucic acid proceeded at the same rate as oleic acid but the over-all yield of the reaction was lower. Fatty acid
composition of tissues in animals fed RSO or CO is influenced on one hand by erucic and gadoleic (C20∶1) acids of RSO, and on the other hand by the unbalanced ratio of palmitic-monoethylenic acids and the linolenic acid content
of both oils. Nonnegligible amounts of erucic acid are deposited in the body fats of rats, chickens, turkeys, lambs and found
in the milk of female rats fed RSO. Almost no erucic acid is incorporated in liver and testicles in the rat and it is not
recovered in chicken egg yolk. The effect of RSO on rat reproduction has been re-examined. Dietary lipid and vitamin levels
are of great importance in the results obtained. RSO induces myocarditis in several animal species. Similar lesions, although
less frequent and severe, have been observed also with CO in the rat. Some authors have reported that erucic acid of RSO was
responsible for the effect on heart muscle. Common fatty acid patterns to both RSO and CO have to be further investigated
to explain the persisting effect of CO.

X-ray diffraction and conformational analysis have been used to investigate the structure of polyurethane hard segments prepared from diphenylmethane 4,4′-diisocyanate (MDI) with propandiol (PDO) and ethylene glycol (EDO) as chain extenders. The results are compared with those obtained previously for MDI-butandiol (BDO) hard segments. In the latter system, the poly(MDI-BDO) chains are fully extended with an all-trans conformation for the O(CH2)4O unit, and a monomer repeat of 18.95 Å. The unit cell is triclinic with a tilted base plane such that adjacent chains are staggered along the fibre axis. In contrast both poly(MDI-PDO) and poly(MDI-EDO) adopt unstaggered structures, i.e. the chains are in register and the unit cell base planes are perpendicular to the chain axis. The monomer repeats of 16.2 Å for poly(MDI-PDO) and 15.0 Å for poly(MDI-EDO) are shorter than the predicted repeats for fully-extended chains, indicating that these polymers have contracted conformations containing some gauche CH2 groups. Conformational analysis shows that the 16.2 Å repeat for poly(MDI-PDO) can be achieved with the O(CH2)3O unit in the trans-gauche+-gauche+-trans or gauche+-trans-trans-gauche+ conformations. Similarly the 15.0 Å repeat for poly(MDI-EDO) is predicted for the gauche+-trans-gauche? conformation for the O(CH2)2O unit. These conformations are of higher energy than the all-trans fully-extended chains. This may explain the higher crystalline perfection of the poly(MDI-BDO) hard segments, for which crystallization in the all-trans form will probably provide a greater driving force for phase separation. 相似文献

The activity and molecular weights of glutathioneS-transferase were studied in three species of cereal aphid:Metopolophium dirhodum, Sitobion avenae, andRhopalosiphum padi. The highest level of glutathioneS-transferase activity was recorded in extracts fromM. dirhodum and the lowest fromS. avenae, and extracts of larvae were more active than those from adults. The activity of this enzyme was higher in extracts ofS. avenae andR. padi previously fed on a moderately resistant wheat variety than on a susceptible variety. Gel filtration followed by SDS-PAGE revealed three protein bands in the active fractions. The first had a molecular weight of 28,500 and the second of 27,500 and were present in all three species of aphid. The effects of estrogen-induced hyperlipidemia on plasma lipid peroxidation, fatty acid composition and osmotic fragility
of erythrocytes in chickens were studied. Young male chickens implanted with estrogen for three wk developed a marked hyperlipidemia.
Plasma levels of triglyceride, cholesterol and phospholipid were elevated 68-, four- and 24-fold, respectively, over controls.
There was also a two-fold increase in plasma lipid peroxidation measured by the thiobarbituric acid test. Vitamin E supplement
(1,000 IU/kg diet) reduced the plasma lipid peroxidation to the control level, but had no effect on the plasma lipid content.
Estrogen-induced hyperlipidemia resulted in changes in the fatty acid composition of membrane lipids of erythrocytes. The
major changes were an increase in oleic acid from 10.0% to 14.2% and a decrease in linoleic acid from 31.3% to 26.0%. The
erytrocytes with an altered membrane fatty acid composition were found to have an increased osmotic fragility. It was apparent
that there was a direct correlation between the oleic acid content and the osmotic fragility of erythrocytes. 相似文献

The first nonlinear optic nanocomposite based on a low-melting vitreous matrix and a ferrielectric crystal has been obtained. The matrix consists of lead-borate glass and the filler is single-phase powder of ferrielectric KNbSi2O7. The quadratic optical nonlinearity of composites was studied depending on temperature and time of dissolution of crystals in the glass matrix. The peroxide value and thiobarbituric acid value were compared with the flavor score for a series of different types of fats,
