Facile synthesis of ordered nanocrystalline alumina thin films with tunable mesopore structures

Mesoporous alumina layers have attracted attention for their potential use in ultrafiltration of salts, as a heterogeneous catalyst support, an adsorbent in environmental cleanup, and in petroleum refinement. The ability to control the fast hydrolysis rate of the inorganic precursors using simple and inexpensive routes is important for that potential to be realized. Herein, we introduce a novel and facile route to synthesize mesoporous alumina thin films from the combination of inexpensive and commercially available copolymer with aluminum chloride or nitrate (salts) in an EtOH–surfactant–NH₃ · H₂O–salts (EsNs) system through the evaporation-induced self-assembly (EISA) method. Mesoporous alumina layers obtained utilizing the EsNs system have ordered and tunable pore structures. The ability to easily control the mesophases of the alumina layers within a short time provides distinct advantages over previously reported synthesis procedures. Most importantly, we demonstrate that the binding of surfactant and NH₃ · H₂O for the formation of hydrogen bond between them in the EsNs system controls the fast hydrolysis rate of the inorganic species. This allows for the synthesis of nanocrystalline alumina layers via the aluminum oxo-clusters’ assembly with the surfactant. Such simple route may be applied in the synthesis of other non-silica mesostructured oxides.

小纸层析法快速测定^99mTc—HMPAO放射化学纯度

采用小纸层析系统１：１的氯仿／四氢呋喃展开剂分析＾９９ｍＴｃ－ＨＭＰＡＯ的放射化学纯度，并与两个薄层析系统和一个纸层析系统的方法作比较。配对ｔ检验结果表明两种方法测定的放射化学纯度无显著差异；放射化学纯度在７４．２％－９６．４％，小纸层析法与薄层／纸层析法紧密相关，回归公式ｙ＝１．００６ｘ－０．３２３。     

飞行人员骨密度与内分泌调节关系的探讨

对37名骨密度(BD)低下的飞行员(实验组)和BD正常的48名飞行员、100名地面人员(正常对照组)进行了BD和血清TT_3、TT_4、TSH IRMA、CT、PTH、E_2和T放射免疫测定。结果显示,实验组BD均值明显低于对照组(p<0.01),血清TT_3、TT_4、CT、E_2(女性)和T(男性)均值与对照组比较,大多数年龄存在着显著或非常显著差异(p<0.05或p<0.01)。同时对飞行人员BD与几种内分泌激素关系进行了探讨。     

Isolation and characterization of C-reactive protein (CRP) cDNA and genomic DNA from Xenopus laevis. A species representing an intermediate stage in CRP evolution

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a prototypic acute phase protein in human and rabbit. Although it is structurally and functionally conserved from invertebrate to human, there are species-specific differences in patterns of expression and putative function. To further investigate the biological significance, regulation, and evolution of CRP, we isolated Xenopus CRP and subsequently derived and sequenced corresponding cDNA and the genomic clones. The structure and expression of Xenopus CRP were also compared to those of the other CRPs. Analyses of the amino acid sequence and the nucleotide sequence reveal that the mature Xenopus CRP is a 222-amino acid protein preceded by a 16-residue signal peptide. During development, Xenopus CRP is expressed, only when the liver appears, and therefore is not likely to play a role in early embryonic development. Compared to other species, Xenopus CRP is present at an intermediate low level of < 1 microgram/ml in the normal serum. Unlike human and rabbit CRP, Xenopus CRP is not induced by turpentine or heatshock treatment. The heatshock consensus sequence (Woo, P., Korenberg, J. R., and Whitehead, A. S. (1985) J. Biol. Chem. 265, 4136-4142) are not present in the Xenopus CRP gene. It is suggested that Xenopus CRP represents a transitional period in CRP evolution when host defenses switched from primitive innate immunity to a much more complex immune system. The constitutive functions of CRP gradually became less essential as the result of the development of a complex immune system.     

Minimum entropy and information measure

Kapur et al. (1995) introduced the MinMax information measure, which is based on both maximum and minimum entropy. The major obstacle for using this measure, in practice, is the difficulty in finding the minimum entropy. An analytical expression has already been developed for calculating the minimum entropy when only variance is specified. An analytical formula is obtained for calculating the minimum entropy when only mean is specified, and numerical examples are given for illustration
