A chiral acyclic nucleoside, one in which the ribose carbohydrate has been replaced with a glycerol-based linker, is prepared by glycosylating guanine at the N7-nitrogen. The stereochemically pure derivative is converted to a DMT-protected phosphoramidite for incorporation into DNA sequences. Sequence containing the acyclic N7-dG nucleoside are capable of forming DNA triplexes in which it is likely that the N1-H and N2-amino groups of the N7-dG are involved in recognition of the guanine base in G-C base pairs.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Patients with cerebellar hematomas may appear stable but may worsen suddenly. Whether certain clinical or CT scan findings predict worsening is not known. METHODS: We reviewed clinical and neuroimaging data in 72 patients with cerebellar hematomas at the Mayo Clinic from 1973 through 1993 to identify predictive features for neurologic deterioration. Patients presenting in coma and patients with vascular malformations or malignancies were excluded. Data were analyzed using chi-square or Fisher's exact test, with calculation of odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed on appropriate variables. RESULTS: Thirty-three patients (46%) deteriorated, with a decrease in level of consciousness, new brainstem signs, or worsened motor response on the Glasgow Coma Scale. Clinical and neuroradiologic predictors for neurologic deterioration at p < 0.05 were admission systolic blood pressure greater than 200 mm Hg, pinpoint pupils and abnormal corneal or oculocephalic reflexes, hemorrhage extending into the vermis, hematoma size more than 3 cm in diameter, brainstem distortion, intraventricular hemorrhage, upward herniation, and acute hydrocephalus. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that hemorrhage located in the vermis (p = 0.03) and acute hydrocephalus (p = 0.0006) on admission CT scanning independently predicted deterioration. CONCLUSION: Patients with a cerebellar vermian hematoma or acute hydrocephalus are at high risk for neurologic deterioration. These patients should be carefully monitored and are more likely to require consideration for neurosurgical intervention.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to answer the question of whether improvements in the health of the elderly in European countries could compensate for population ageing on the supply side of the labour market. We propose a state-of-health-specific (additive) decomposition of the old-age dependency ratio into an old-age healthy dependency ratio and an old-age unhealthy dependency ratio in order to participate in a discussion of the significance of changes in population health to compensate for the ageing of the labour force. Applying the proposed indicators to the Eurostat's population projection for the years 2010-2050, and assuming there will be equal improvements in life expectancy and healthy life expectancy at birth, we discuss various scenarios concerning future of the European labour force. While improvements in population health are anticipated during the years 2010-2050, the growth in the number of elderly people in Europe may be expected to lead to a rise in both healthy and unhealthy dependency ratios. The healthy dependency ratio is, however, projected to make up the greater part of the old-age dependency ratio. In the European countries in 2006, the value of the old-age dependency ratio was 25. But in the year 2050, with a positive migration balance over the years 2010-2050, there would be 18 elderly people in poor health plus 34 in good health per 100 people in the current working age range of 15-64. In the scenarios developed in this study, we demonstrate that improvements in health and progress in preventing disability will not, by themselves, compensate for the ageing of the workforce. However, coupled with a positive migration balance, at the level and with the age structure assumed in the Eurostat's population projections, these developments could ease the effect of population ageing on the supply side of the European labour market.  相似文献

The contact angles of water drops and diiodomethane drops on pellets made of controlled porosity glasses have been measured. The surface of the glasses was modified by thermal treatment at 873 K which led to an increase in the surface concentration of boron atoms. Glass modified with Carbowax 20M (polyethylene glycol) and fully hydroxylated glass have also been studied. Using the measured contact angles and modified Young equation, the dispersion and nondispersion components of the glass surface free energy have been calculated. The values show that with increasing heating time (increasing surface density of boron atoms) an increase in the surface polarity takes place. However, the polarity of the same samples decreases after treatment with Carbowax, increasingly so with higher boron atom concentrations.  相似文献

This paper experimentally investigates the role of visual complexity (VC) and prototypicality (PT) as design factors of websites, shaping users' first impressions by means of two studies. In the first study, 119 screenshots of real websites varying in VC (low vs. medium vs. high) and PT (low vs. high) were rated on perceived aesthetics. Screenshot presentation time was varied as a between-subject factor (50 ms vs. 500 ms vs. 1000 ms). Results reveal that VC and PT affect participants' aesthetics ratings within the first 50 ms of exposure. In the second study presentation times were shortened to 17, 33 and 50 ms. Results suggest that VC and PT affect aesthetic perception even within 17 ms, though the effect of PT is less pronounced than the one of VC. With increasing presentation time the effect of PT becomes as influential as the VC effect. This supports the reasoning of the information-processing stage model of aesthetic processing (Leder et al., 2004), where VC is processed at an earlier stage than PT. Overall, websites with low VC and high PT were perceived as highly appealing.  相似文献

EASEA is a framework designed to help non-expert programmers to optimize their problems by evolutionary computation. It allows to generate code targeted for standard CPU architectures, GPGPU-equipped machines as well as distributed memory clusters. In this paper, EASEA is presented by its underlying algorithms and by some example problems. Achievable speedups are also shown onto different NVIDIA GPGPUs cards for different optimization algorithm families.  相似文献

Differential thermal analysis (DTA) was applied to determine the changes in enthalpy and entropy of (NH4)2ZnCl4 and K2ZnCl4 crystals at their phase transition from the orthorhombic normal phase to the incommensurate phase. The temperature of this transition, T i , is 406 K for (NH4)2ZnCl4 and 555 K for K2ZnCl4 and the entropy changes (S/R) are 0.053 and 0.035, respectively. The low value obtained for S/R is characteristic of incommensurate phase transitions. The results were compared with the data reported for other crystals of the A2BX4 family. Thermal properties of the crystals of the A2ZnCl4 subgroup were found to the correlated with the length of A-Cl bonds.  相似文献

Contents The paper provides results of calculations of electric field for parallelepiped and ellipsoidal tanks. The calculations reported in the paper indicate that even at a relatively small volumetric density of charge (q=100 C/m3) the intensity of the electric field in the vapour/air mixture may exceed the critical value (3 MV/m), which may cause a spark discharge. They also show the maximum of the electric field intensity, the maximum potential and energy after the change in shape of the tank, while the volume of the stored liquid remains the same. The calculations of these quantities can be used as a basis for reduction or elimination of the electrostatic ignition hazard.
Einfluß der Behälterform auf das elektrostatische Feld infolge einer Raumladung
Übersicht Der Beitrag behandelt elektrische Felder in Behältern von der Form eines Parallelepipeds und eines Ellipsoids. Die Berechnungen zeigen, daß selbst bei relativ kleinen Werten der Raumladung (100 C/m3) die elektrische Feldstärke im Dampf-Luftgemisch den kritischen Wert (3 ÖMV/m) überschreiten und einen Durchschlag verursachen kann. Außerdem werden die Maxima der elektrischen Feldstärke, des Potentials und der Energie in Abhängigkeit der Behälterform angegeben unter der Voraussetzung, daß das Volumen der enthaltenen Flüssigkeit konstant bleibt. Die Rechenergebnisse lassen sich als Basis für die Verminderung oder Elimination der Gefahr von Überschlägen verwenden.

A new high-order model for analysing distribution of temperature in periodic composites is proposed. The original scalar elliptic problem with Y-periodic coefficients (Y is a cube) is replaced with a vectorial elliptic problem of constant coefficients. The unknown fields are: the averaged distribution of temperature and the vector field which stands for perturbation of the temperature within the cells of periodicity. The recovery of temperature in the original composite is given by the approximation: 0(x)=0(x) +h a (x/) a (x) analogous with the first terms of the two-scale asymptotic expansion known from the homogenization theory. The functions h are defined as approximations of the solutions to the basic cell problems. In contrast to the two-scale expansion the expression for satisfies the boundary condition.  相似文献
