The six elastic constants (and six elastic compliances) of corundum were determined in the kilocycle per second frequency range by an accurate resonance method. The results were checked in the megacycle per second range with a less accurate, pulse velocity method. The elastic moduli for polycrystalline alumina calculated from the single crystal compliances determined by the resonance method are in good agreement with experimental values obtained on high density polycrystalline alumina. The variation of Young’s modulus and of the shear modulus with orientation was calculated from the compliances and the results are shown graphically. The results of the present work do not agree well with previous work on single crystal sapphire. The specification of orientation and the theory used to calculate the elastic constants are given in detail to support the contention that the results of the present work are correct. 相似文献

1. Effects of d-amphetamine on the frequency of spontaneous contraction of the longitudinal muscle of the portal vein were studied in Wistar rats. Its effects on the circular muscles of the pulmonary artery and stomach also were tested. 2. d-Amphetamine increased the frequency of the spontaneous contraction of the portal vein. The ratio of the frequency of the spontaneous contraction of the portal vein before and after d-amphetamine treatment also was increased. The effect was not affected in the presence of prazocin, (+)-lysergic acid diethylamide, atropine and haloperidol. These results that the d-amphetamine-elicited response was not due mainly to the activation of adrenergic, serotoninergic (5-HT), cholinergic or dopaminergic receptors. 3. Increasing extracellular calcium or sodium ion concentrations decreased the frequency of the spontaneous contraction of the portal vein. However, the ratios of the frequency of the spontaneous contraction of the rat portal vein before and after d-amphetamine treatment in media containing different extracellular calcium or sodium concentrations were not significantly altered. Tetrodotoxin did not alter the effect of d-amphetamine on the frequency of spontaneous contractions. It appeared that calcium and sodium ions may not take part in the effects of d-amphetamine on the frequency of the portal vein. 4. An increase in extracellular potassium ion concentrations increased the frequency of the spontaneous contractions of the portal vein. In addition, the ratios of the frequency of the spontaneous contractions of the rat portal vein before and after d-amphetamine treatment in media containing different extracellular potassium ion concentrations were significantly altered. Tetraethylammonium chloride (TEA) and 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) increased the spontaneous contractions of the portal vein. However, TEA and 4-AP did not increase the d-amphetamine-elicited increasing effect on the frequency of spontaneous muscle contractions. 5. Levochromakalim, a potassium channel opener, decreased the frequency of the spontaneous contractions of the portal vein. Levochromakalim also decreased the effect of d-amphetamine on the frequency of spontaneous contractions of the muscle. It appeared that potassium ion may be associated with the effects of d-amphetamine on the activity of the portal vein. 6. d-Amphetamine potentiated, whereas prazosin decreased, the noradrenaline-elicited contracture of the rat pulmonary artery in a dose-dependent manner. 7. d-Amphetamine elicited contracture of the circular muscle of rat stomach, whereas it did not alter the frequency of the spontaneous contraction of the muscle. 8. Both 5-HT and d-amphetamine elicited the contracture of the circular muscle of rat stomach. Ketanserin decreased the 5-HT-elicited response, whereas it did not alter the d-amphetamine-elicited response in the muscle. d-Amphetamine did not alter the frequency of the spontaneous contraction of the stomach. 9. It is concluded that d-amphetamine has different effects on the frequency of spontaneous smooth muscle contractions. It increased the frequency in the portal vein, but it did not alter the frequency in stomach circular muscle. 相似文献

This article describes the development and initial reliability and validity estimates of the Gambling Treatment Outcome Monitoring System (GAMTOMS), a multi-instrument and multidimensional outcome assessment battery designed to measure gambling treatment outcomes. Reliability methods included both internal consistency of scales and a 1-week test-retest temporal stability procedure. Validity was examined with procedures to estimate content, convergent, discriminant, predictive, and construct validity. Data were collected from 2 separate studies, 1 on the questionnaire version and 1 on the interview version. The questionnaire study included 46 female and 41 male gambling treatment clients and 22 female and 2 male nonclinical participants. The interview study included 88 female and 62 male gambling treatment clients and 16 female and 9 male nonclinical participants. The GAMTOMS was found to yield satisfactory estimates of internal consistency, and 1-week test-retest reliability and was also found to demonstrate satisfactory content, convergent, discriminant, predictive, and construct validity. Little is known about the course and outcomes of adolescent gambling. This prospective study describes findings from a 3-wave (Time 1 [T1], Time 2 [T2], and Time 3 [T31]) assessment of gambling behaviors among youth (N = 305). Stable rates of any gambling and regular gambling (weekly or daily) were observed across T1, T2, and T3. The rate of at-risk gambling significantly increased at T3 (young adulthood), whereas the rate of problem gambling remained stable over time. Several adolescent risk factors were associated with either T3 at-risk or problem gambling, many of which are risk factors for adolescent substance abuse. Findings suggest that important to the origins of young adult gambling problems are risk factors associated with the problem behavior syndrome of adolescence. A vulnerability model of adolescent substance abuse treatment outcome provided the basis for selection of demographic, individual, interpersonal, and treatment factors to predict the follow-up use of alcohol and marijuana in a sample of 225 adolescents (aged 12–18 yrs) with psychoactive substance use disorders. Pretreatment levels of sibling substance use and aftercare participation predicted alcohol and marijuana use during the first 6 mo posttreatment. Pretreatment levels of deviant behavior also predicted the use of marijuana at 6-mo follow-up. Peer substance use at intake and 6-mo posttreatment both predicted substance use frequency outcomes at 12-mo follow-up. Alcohol and marijuana use frequencies at 6-mo follow-up also predicted continued use for these substances throughout the remainder of the 1st posttreatment year. Shorter treatment length and being male were risk factors for alcohol use during the 2nd half of the 1st posttreatment year. Elevated psychological substance dependence at 6-mo follow-up was a unique risk factor for subsequent marijuana use. Findings support conceptual models that attempt to explain adolescent substance abuse treatment outcome in terms of relationships among demographic, individual, interpersonal, and treatment factors.
