Cell culture media influence the characteristics of human osteogenic periosteal sheets. We have previously found that a stem cell medium facilitates growth and collagen matrix formation in vitro and osteogenesis in vivo. However, it has not yet been demonstrated which culture medium is superior for osteoclastogenesis, a prerequisite for reconstruction of normal bone metabolic basis. To address this question, we compared chemotaxis and osteoclastogenesis in tissue-engineered periosteal sheets (TPSs) prepared with two types of culture media. Periosteal tissues obtained from adult volunteers were expanded with the conventional Medium 199 or with the stem cell medium, MesenPRO. Hematopoietic enhanced-green-fluorescent-protein (EGFP)-nude mice were prepared by γ-irradiation of Balb/c nu/nu mice and subsequent transplantation of bone marrow cells from CAG-EGFP C57BL/6 mice. TPSs were implanted subcutaneously into the chimeric mice and retrieved after intervals for immunohistopathological examination. EGFP+ cells were similarly recruited to the implantation site in both the TPSs prepared, whereas the distribution of CD11b+ cells was significantly lower in the TPS prepared with the stem cell medium. Instead, osteoclastogenesis was higher in the TPS prepared with the stem cell medium than in the one prepared with the conventional medium. These findings suggest that the stem cell medium is preferable for the preparation of more functional TPSs.  相似文献

The solid-state reaction and hydrocarbon-removal activities of composite powders in the system of CuO and La-modified Al2O3 were studied for the purpose of their application to heat-stable catalyst in exhaust-treatment. X-ray diffraction revealed the formation of catalytic nanocomposite-powder of CuLaAl11O19 and -Al2O3 at 1100 °C from the solid-state reaction between -Al2O3, CuO and La2O3. The La-modification of -Al2O3 was effective to maintain the large surface areas of these composite powders. The C6H6 removal activities were compared with practical automotive catalyst in the system of Pt–Ce and -Al2O3. The composite-powder of CuLaAl11O19 and -Al2O3 is active for complete oxidation of benzene and the microstructure is favourable as a powder for catalytic coat-layer.  相似文献

The internal friction of metaphosphate glasses was measured as a function of temperature by a free torsional vibration method. In the high-temperature region metaphosphate glasses (MO/P2O5=l)for which M=Ca, Sr, or Ba exhibit high-temperature peaks in plots of internal friction vs temperature, whereas for M =Mg or Zn this peak is missing.  相似文献

An effect of photodegradation on electrical conductivity of a styrene-butadiene copolymer (SBR)/multiwall carbon nanotube (MWNT) composite was studied with a TiO2/polyethylene oxide/methyl linoleate paint photocatalyst under UV and/or visible light irradiation. An oxidative etching of impurities on the MWNT surface was caused by the UV or visible light irradiation, leading to an increase of quality of MWNT. On the other hand, the photocatalyst addition caused the degradation of MWNT structure. A relationship between the electrical conductivity and MWNT content showed that the MWNT dispersity in a SBR was superior to that in a polystyrene (PS). In addition, the PS addition to SBR matrix caused MWNT aggregation. The electrical conductivity decrease of the MWNT composite was due to electrical percolation structure loss caused by the photocatalyst under the visible light irradiation, and its rate depended on the MWNT dispersity. The PS molecular weight change behavior with the photocatalyst was consistent with the electrical conductivity one of the SBR/MWNT. The photocatalyst ability was estimated from the electrical conductivity of the SBR/MWNT.  相似文献

Various mechanical and thermal properties of β'-sialon ceramics, Si6–zAlzOzN8–z, prepared from aqueous slurries by a slip casting method were investigated as a function of Z values from 0 to 4. In the present study, Si6–zAlzOzN8–z occurred in the β'-sialon crystalline phase only near Z = 1. The maximum values for bending strength and fracture toughness, 660 MPa and 5.7 MPa·m1/2, respectively, were obtained at Z = 0.5. The thermal expansion coefficient exhibited its lowest value, 3.4 × 10−6· T−1 , at Z = 0.5. In view of the present results, β'-sialon, Si6–zAlzOzN8–z (Z = 0.5–1), prepared by a slip casting method using aqueous slurries could be adopted, with no problem, for refractory parts.  相似文献

A simple yet versatile combinatorial method to discover binary metal nanoparticle catalysts was developed. In this method, the nominal thickness of component metals can be independently screened for a wide range by simply setting a mask with a slit above a substrate during sputter-deposition. Using this method, we prepared a catalyst library with Mo (0.2-4 nm) and Co (0.2-8 nm) thickness profiles on a SiO2/Si wafer and discovered active catalysts that grow vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotubes by alcohol catalytic chemical vapor deposition.  相似文献

In the near future, sustainable energy conversion and storage will largely depend on the electrochemical splitting of water into hydrogen and oxygen. Perceiving this, countless research works focussing on the fundamentals of electrocatalysis of water splitting and on performance improvements are being reported everyday around the globe. Electrocatalysts of high activity, selectivity, and stability are anticipated as they directly determine energy‐ and cost efficiency of water electrolyzers. Amorphous electrocatalysts with several advantages over crystalline counterparts are found to perform better in electrocatalytic water splitting. There are plenty of studies witnessing performance enhancements in electrocatalysis of water splitting while employing amorphous materials as catalysts. The harmony between the flexibility of amorphous electrocatalysts and electrocatalysis of water splitting (both the oxygen evolution reaction [OER] and the hydrogen evolution reaction [HER]) is one of the untold and unsummarized stories in the field of electrocatalytic water splitting. This Review is devoted to comprehensively discussing the upsurge of amorphous electrocatalysts in electrochemical water splitting. In addition to that, the basics of electrocatalysis of water splitting are also elaborately introduced and the characteristics of a good electrocatalyst for OER and HER are discussed.  相似文献

Pure cubic perovskites Ba(Na2/5W3/5)O3, Sr(Na2/5W3/5)l5)O3, and Sr(Li2/5W3/5)O3 were prepared by solid-state reaction at 600° to 650°C in air, by starting with oxides or carbonates of the various elements. The poly(para-phenylene-co-3,4′-oxydiphenylene terephthalamide) (PPODTA) fiber is one of the high strength organic fibers, and it has been reported that the PPODTA fiber has superior fatigue resistance. The high strength fibers are used in the applications to utilize their high mechanical properties in general. Therefore, the long-term durability of these fibers is also required. In this study, the fatigue tests were conducted for the PPODTA fibers. As a result, it was found that the PPODTA fibers were able to be fractured by the cyclic tensile stress, and the fatigue behavior was influenced by the stress conditions. In addition, the single fiber tensile tests were also conducted for the PPODTA fibers, and the relation between the tensile properties and the fatigue resistance of the PPODTA fiber was investigated. The fatigue resistance of the PPODTA fiber was increased with the decrease of the fiber diameter and the increase of the tensile modulus.  相似文献

Dry sliding of two bodies in contact generates a wide range of effects like friction, wear, heat and sound among others. The main interest of this study is in the frequency characteristics of the generated sound.In the past, frequency spectrum and sound pressure level with relation to surface topography (surface roughness in particular), have been studied mainly for concentrated contacts like stylus or hemispherical tip pin on a rough surface. Studies on flat–flat contacts were mainly focused on the topography of contacting surfaces and its relation to occurrence or non-occurrence of squeal (high pitch, high sound pressure level sound) in brake systems.The present study aims to clarify the effect of surface roughness on the frequency of non-squealing frictional sound generated in dry flat–flat sliding contact.Sound was generated by the dry contact in rubbing by hand of two rectangular cross-section stainless-steel plates having similar surface roughness. The roughness of the contacting surfaces varied in the range Rz=0.8–12.4 μm. The sound spectra had 5 peaks (P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5) in order of increasing frequency and it was found that the peak frequency was shifted when the roughness of the rubbed surfaces changed. The first peak P1 was most sensitive to change of surface roughness and it shifted from 3.0 to 4.5 kHz when the maximum surface roughness changed from Rz=10.9 to . When the surface was relatively rough, this peak was close to the first bending natural frequency of the plate at 2.377 kHz.  相似文献
