Choice of discretization frequency of the profiles of large cylindrical power engineering products

A new technique proposed for harmonic analysis of profile serves as a base for determining the minimum number of points monitored with given requirements concerning discretization errors and with allowance for the error of measurement. We report results obtained by using this technique to estimate the errors of the familiar Spragg formulas and also to analyze the profiles of cylindrical nuclear reactor parts. A segmentation-based algorithm for large-scale partially ordered monotonic regression

Monotonic regression (MR) is an efficient tool for estimating functions that are monotonic with respect to input variables. A fast and highly accurate approximate algorithm called the GPAV was recently developed for efficient solving large-scale multivariate MR problems. When such problems are too large, the GPAV becomes too demanding in terms of computational time and memory. An approach, that extends the application area of the GPAV to encompass much larger MR problems, is presented. It is based on segmentation of a large-scale MR problem into a set of moderate-scale MR problems, each solved by the GPAV. The major contribution is the development of a computationally efficient strategy that produces a monotonic response using the local solutions. A theoretically motivated trend-following technique is introduced to ensure higher accuracy of the solution. The presented results of extensive simulations on very large data sets demonstrate the high efficiency of the new algorithm.     

The Comprehensive Upgrading of an MИ-1201 Mass Spectrometer

The set of operations used to upgrade an MИ-1201 magnetic sector mass spectrometer is described. The upgrading consisted of automating the recording system, developing the software, and modifying the vacuum system. The modified instrument was tested by analyzing both CO₂ samples with a natural isotopic composition of oxygen and water samples enriched with the ¹⁸O isotope. The reproducibility of results from measuring the ¹⁶O concentration was 0.005%. White-light interferometer with partial correlogram scanning

A method for measurement of a surface microprofile with a nanometer resolution is described. The method is based on partial scanning of correlograms in a Linnik white-light interferometer. Experimental results on measurements of thin film thickness are presented. It is shown that a depth resolution of better than 1 nm can be obtained by correlogram scanning in the range from 1 to 2 periods.     

Effect of the Ag Nanoparticle Concentration in TiO<Subscript>2</Subscript>–Ag Functional Coatings on the Characteristics of GaInP/GaAs/Ge Photoconverters

The results of studying the effect of the silver nanoparticle concentration in TiO₂–Ag functional coatings on the characteristics of GaInP/GaAs/Ge photoconverters are discussed. The optimum concentration of silver nanoparticles in TiO₂ coatings, improving the functional characteristics of solar cells is determined.
