Two commercial SCR catalysts, with a nominal W content of about 9 wt.% and a V nominal content of 0.55 and 1.8 wt.%, respectively, were contacted with different amounts of Na and K and with HCl vapours in order to simulate poisoning by species more specifically contained in exhaust gases from MSW combustion. Catalysts were characterised using XRD analysis, SEM/EDX analysis, BET and pore size distribution measurements, NH3 TPD, TG analysis. Poisoning agents do not cause loss of surface area nor pore occlusion. A significant loss of surface acidity was observed upon alkali metals poisoning whereas a decreasing of vanadium content was observed for the more concentrated catalysts upon HCl poisoning. Catalysts deactivation is proportional to the number of acid sites neutralised by alkali metals adsorbing ammonia in the temperature range typical of SCR process. HCl promotes the formation of new acid sites showing a lower activity compared to the original one.  相似文献

Facial muscle activity and self-reports were examined for racial bias in 3 studies. In the first 2 experiments, While participants imagined cooperating with a Black or White partner. Experiment 1 manipulated reward structure in the context of cooperating with a deficient partner. Experiment 2 manipulated partner deficiency and willingness to expend compensatory effort. On both facial EMG and self-report measures, joint rewards produced more negative affect than independent rewards. However, all partners were liked more when they were willing to try to compensate for their deficits. In addition, more liking was reported for Black partners, but EMG activity indicated bias against Blacks. Experiment 3 investigated individual differences in prejudice. Again, a greater preference for Blacks than Whites occurred on self-report measures, but in their facial muscle activity, high-prejudiced participants exhibited bias against Blacks.  相似文献

Haemophilus influenzae is a bacterium of medical interest of which the entire genome has been sequenced. The proteome of the microorganism has been analyzed by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, during which immobilized pH 3-10 gradient strips were used and approximately 300 proteins were identified. In order to detect additional, basic proteins, we analyzed the soluble protein fraction of H. influenzae and the proteins of fractions collected from affinity chromatography on heparin, by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, using for the first-dimensional separation immobilized pH gradient strips comprising the pH region of 6-11. The protein spots were analyzed by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-mass spectrometry. One hundred and two proteins were identified, of which 58 were identified for the first time. A large percentage of the basic proteins represent nucleic acid binding and, in particular, ribosomal proteins. The locations of the identified basic proteins of H. influenzae are indicated in a two-dimensional map.  相似文献

A prospective study on the role of the p53 gene in sporadic colorectal neoplasms is presented and the level of mutant p53 protein was measured in the tissue removed during colonoscopy from: patients previously operated for colorectal malignant neoplasms, patients with active neoplasms, first degree relatives and during regular checks. 72% of patients with an active tumour showed a positive p53 and 38% in follow-up checks. Longer follow-up periods and a major number of patients are necessary to assess the prognostic importance of the p53 protein.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To test the efficacy and safety of low-dose oral pulse methotrexate therapy in patients with idiopathic granulomatous hepatitis who had complications of, did not respond to, or refused glucocorticoid therapy. DESIGN: Prospective case study. SETTING: Academic medical center hospital. PATIENTS: Seven patients with biopsy-proven, idiopathic granulomatous hepatitis who could not tolerate or were unresponsive to glucocorticoid therapy. INTERVENTION: Low-dose oral pulse methotrexate, 15 mg/wk. MEASUREMENTS: Temperature, symptoms, dose of concurrent glucocorticoids, biochemical tests of liver function, side effects of methotrexate, and assessment of liver biopsy specimens. RESULTS: All six febrile patients became afebrile within 3 months of starting methotrexate. Fatigue and anorexia improved in all patients. Glucocorticoid therapy was successfully discontinued within 6 months of starting methotrexate in four patients receiving prednisone at entry. Liver biopsy specimens were obtained again after methotrexate therapy and showed absence of granulomas in four of four patients. The minimum effective dose of methotrexate was 0.20 mg/kg body weight per week. No serious adverse effects and no failures to respond to methotrexate therapy were noted in this group of patients. In three patients, methotrexate therapy has been successfully tapered without signs or symptoms of recurrent disease. CONCLUSIONS: Low-dose oral pulse methotrexate was effective in treating patients with granulomatous hepatitis.  相似文献

Fatty acid uptake is partly controlled by the FATP gene family, of which at least five members are known in mice. Using the mmFATP1 cDNA as hybridization probe, a 1.6 kb partial cDNA clone was isolated from a human heart cDNA library. With 5' and 3' RACE procedures, the complete cDNA was isolated. Experiments were designed to evaluate whether guanosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (cGMP)-mediated mechanisms contribute to vasodilation via propofol in rat mesenteric resistance arteries. Ring segments were suspended in the myograph system for isometric tension recording, and responses to propofol were tested in the presence and absence of methylene blue (MB), an inhibitor of guanylate cyclase. At concentrations > or = 1 microM, propofol caused concentration-dependent relaxation of vessel rings precontracted with U46619 (a thromboxane analog). The effect was not affected by N-monomethyl-L-arginine (L-NMMA; 50 microM). MB (5 microM) reversed propofol-induced vasodilation by 30% (p < 0.001). In contrast, MB has no effect on nifedipine-inhibited vasocontraction. The propofol-induced relaxation was further tested in rings incubated in Ca2+-free solution. U46619-induced contractions were significantly reduced by propofol (40 microM) but not by nifedipine (1 microM). Propofol reduced to a similar degree the contractions obtained to exogenously added calcium chloride in the absence and the presence of MB. Furthermore, propofol (10-100 microM) increased cGMP content in cultured bovine vascular smooth-muscle cells. Soluble guanylate cyclase inhibitors, such as MB and LY83583, attenuated this effect. This investigation suggests that propofol-induced relaxations in small arteries, in addition to inhibition of calcium influx, are mediated by increases of cGMP in the smooth muscle cells.  相似文献

We conducted a multiyear study in two phases to determine preweaning performance traits of Senepol (S x S), Hereford (H x H), and reciprocal (S x H and H x S) F1 crossbred calves and feedlot performance and carcass characteristics of steers. In Phase I, from 1985 to 1989, data from S x S (n = 194), H x H (n = 383), and S x H (n = 120) calves were used. Numbers of S x S cows were increased during Phase I so that data from H x S (n = 74) calves could be included in Phase II (1990 to 1992) in addition to S x S (n = 118), H x H (n = 130), and S x H (n = 56) calves. Also during Phase II, feedlot performance and carcass characteristics were determined for S x S (n = 30), H x H (n = 26), H x S (n = 36), and S x H (n = 26) steers. In Phase I, S x S calves had heavier (P < .01) birth weights and heavier (P < .01) 205-d adjusted weaning weights than H x H calves. Birth weights of S x H calves were heavier (P < .01) than the mean of the purebred calves, but 205-d adjusted weaning weights did not differ (P > .10). In phase II, direct heterosis was 3.5% for birth weight (P < .05) and 5.1% for 205-d adjusted weaning weight (P < .01). Senepol maternal breed effects were 1.9 kg for birth weight (P < .10) and 37.9 kg for 205-d adjusted weaning weight (P < .01). Levels of direct heterosis, Senepol maternal breed effects, and Hereford direct breed effects were significant for most feedlot performance traits of steer calves that were fed to a common end point. Breeds did not differ (P > .10) for USDA yield and quality grades, and direct heterosis was not significant for Warner-Bratzler shear force. These results demonstrate significant levels of heterosis in preweaning performance between S x S and H x H calves and in feedlot performance of steers. Levels of heterosis were smaller and nonsignificant for most carcass traits including meat tenderness, which did not differ between S x S and H x H steers in this study.  相似文献

Thromboembolic events frequently complicate the clinical course of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Hereditary thrombophilia may contribute to this tendency. Resistance to activated protein C is the most recently described thrombophilic state and may account for up to 40% of patients with thrombophilia. Thirty-seven patients with IBD were studied (mean age 44 years, range 18-82 years). Three patients had a history of thrombotic episodes. The 37 controls included 23 men and 17 women (mean age 48 years, range 16-89 years). Disease activity was assessed using the Harvey Bradshaw index for patients with Crohn's disease and the Truelove and Witts grading system for patients with ulcerative colitis. Levels of fibrinogen, antithrombin III (ATIII), protein C, protein S, activated protein C resistance (APCR), and the presence of a lupus anticoagulant (LA) were determined. Median ATIII levels in patients with IBD were significantly lower than controls (98% vs 106%, P = 0.007), while fibrinogen was elevated (4.2 vs 3.3 g/liter, P = 0.026) despite quiescent disease activity. LA was detected in 7/37 patients in the IBD group compared to 0/37 controls. (chi2 = 5.68, P = 0.017). No significant difference was observed in levels of inherited thrombophilic factors and in particular APCR between IBD patients and controls. In conclusion, the presence of inherited thrombophilic defects, in particular APCR, is uncommon in patients with IBD and does not merit routine screening.  相似文献
