A transplacentally induced lung tumor of strain C3Hf mice grows progressively when transplanted to (C3Hf X A)F1 hybrid mice but not when transplanted to C3Hf recipients. Progressive tumor growth occurs in [(C3Hf X A)F1 X C3Hf] backcross mice inheriting the H-2a haplotype from the F1 parent. Furthermore, radioresistant immunity to the lung tumor can be induced in C3Hf mice by immunization with normal tissue of B10.A and B10.A(2R) but not of B10 or B10.A(5R) strain mice.  相似文献

The cell-free rumen fluid from cattle fed hay or grain exhibited the following biological characteristics which strongly suggest the presence of endotoxin or a toxic principle similar to endotoxin of gram-negative bacteria: proved lethal to mice when injected with actinomycin D; proved extremely lethal to chick embryo; induced biphasic pyogenic response in rabbits; enhanced susceptibility to bacterial infection in mice; evoked positive epinephrine skin reaction in rabbits and phenol-water or aqueous ether proved lethal to mice and chick embryos. A quantitative difference in concentrations of endotoxin was observed on LD50 in mice and chick embryos and response to the epinephrine skin test in rabbits. Cell-free rumen fluid of grain-fed cattle contained at least twice as much endotoxin as that of hay-fed cattle. Endotoxin in cell-free rumen fluid and in higher concentration in cattle fed grain than in those fed hay support the hypothesis that rumen bacterial endotoxins may participate in the pathogenesis of diseases associated with high grain feeding such as lactic acidosis and the sudden-death syndrome.  相似文献

Grain-boundary segregation of impurity elements, such as phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, and others, decreases the grain-boundary cohesion, which can substantially increase the temperature of the ductile-brittle transition in low-alloy structural steel. The most dangerous surface-active impurity for low-alloy steel employed for nuclear reactor vessels is phosphorus. A change of the cohesive strength of grain boundaries as a result of radiation-stimulated phosphorus segregation is considered to be one of the main mechanisms determining the radiation embrittlement of reactor-vessel materials. Since the mechanisms of embrittlement during development of reversible temper brittleness and radiation-stimulated grain-boundary segregation of phosphorus are the same, the main characteristics of the influence of the latter on the mechanical properties of steel can be determined by investigating steel treated in the range 400–600°C. The present investigation made it possible to develop a relation for determining the change in the temperature of the ductile-brittle transition in low-alloy steel as a result of the development of temper brittleness.  相似文献

Experimental data on the development of technology for the manufacture of briquetted fuel from brown coals with the use of various petroleum binders are presented. The influence of the moisture content, the coal particle-size composition, the binder type and concentration, the compacting pressure, and heat treatment regimes on the mechanical properties of the materials was studied. The optimal compositions and optimal values of the engineering parameters for the production of graded briquetted fuel from brown coals of the Kangalassy deposit in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) were established.  相似文献

We investigate theoretically and experimentally the conductivity of bismuth nanowires at low temperatures in a uniform magnetic field directed perpendicularly to the wire axis. Using the Kubo formula, we calculate the conductivity for the cases of systems with degenerate and nondegenerate carrier gas with elastic acoustic-phonon scattering of carriers. Size, temperature, and field dependence of the conductivity of a Bi quantum wire are discussed in detail. For a nanowire with nondegenerate carrier gas, the conductivity depends exponentially on a combination of field, temperature, and wire diameter. For a semimetallic Bi quantum wire can be observed the negative magnetoresistance.  相似文献
