Dens invaginatus is the most common dental anomaly in a group of dental anomalies, related by their embryologic development and by the fact that their defects provide a potential pathway for bacteria to cause pulpal pathology. It occurs when the inner enamel epithelium invaginates into the dental papilla prior to calcification. It exists in erupted teeth as an enamel-lined tract, which either ends in a blind sac inside the crown or root or exits into the periodontal ligament. The lining may be incomplete in areas and may not protect the pulp. Methods of providing preventive treatment for teeth with dens invaginatus are described. When pulpal pathosis occurs, the dens may displace the pulp and complicate access cavity preparation and subsequent endodontic treatment, adversely affecting the prognosis. DNA-protein interactions were studied in the chromatin preparations obtained according to different procedures by means of nucleoprotein-celite chromatography. Three discrete fractions dissociating in 1M, 2M and 3M NaCl were observed in all preparations. The 1M fraction prevails in DNaseI-sensitive chromatin and the 2M fraction--in the resistant. Chromatin solubilized by MspI restrictase (the active chromatin) contains the 1M and 3M fractions, one solubilized by AluI (inactive)--the 2M fraction. Spontaneous resorption in the CBA x DBA/2 model is attributed to NK cells, macrophages, and Th1-type cytokines. In vivo depletion of NK cells by anti-asialoGM1 Ab or macrophage depletion by silicon dioxide treatment reduced abortion rates, which could no longer be boosted by injecting TNF-alpha (which activates NK cells) or IFN-gamma (which activates macrophages). TNF-alpha + gamma-IFN coadministration aborted >80% of the embryos whether or not NK cells or macrophages had been depleted or estradiol + progesterone was injected to correct potential reduction in ovarian function by cytokines. The cytokines also aborted IRF1+/+ C57BL/6 but not IRF1-/- females pregnant by IRF1+/+ DBA/2. Both spontaneous and cytokine-boosted abortions in CBA x DBA/2 were blocked by Ab to fgl2 prothrombinase [corrected] expressed by cytokine-stimulated vascular endothelial cells and monocytes; in vivo Ab depletion of granulocytes also prevented TNF-alpha + IFN-gamma-induced abortions. The purpose of this study was to determine whether presweetened breakfast cereals with various fiber contents and a moderate glycemic index optimize glucose availability and improve endurance exercise performance. Six recreationally active women ate 75 g of available carbohydrate in the form of breakfast cereals: sweetened whole-grain rolled oats (SRO, 7 g of dietary fiber) or sweetened whole-oat flour (SOF, 3 g of dietary fiber) and 300 ml of water or water alone (Con). The meals were provided 45 min before semirecumbent cycle ergometer exercise to exhaustion at 60% of peak O2 consumption (VO2peak). Diet and physical activity were controlled by having the subjects reside in the General Clinical Research Center for 2 days before each trial. Blood samples were drawn from an antecubital vein for glucose, free fatty acid (FFA), glycerol, insulin, epinephrine, and norepinephrine determination. Breath samples were obtained at 15-min intervals after meal ingestion and at 30-min intervals during exercise. Muscle glycogen concentration was determined from biopsies taken from the vastus lateralis muscle before the meal and immediately after exercise. Plasma FFA concentrations were lower (P < 0.05) during the SRO and SOF trials for the first 60 and 90 min of exercise, respectively, than during the Con trial. Respiratory exchange ratios were higher (P < 0.05) at 90 and 120 min of exercise for the SRO and SOF trials, respectively, than for the Con trial. At exhaustion, glucose, insulin, FFA, glycerol, epinephrine, and norepinephrine concentrations, respiratory exchange ratio, and muscle glycogen use in the vastus lateralis muscle were similar for all trials. Exercise time to exhaustion was 16% longer (P < 0.05) during the SRO than during the Con trial: 266.5 +/- 13 and 225.1 +/- 8 min, respectively. There was no difference in exercise time for the SOF (250.8 +/- 12) and Con trials. We conclude that eating a meal with a high dietary fiber content and moderate glycemic index 45 min before prolonged moderately intense exercise significantly enhances exercise capacity. 相似文献
