Dens invaginatus is the most common dental anomaly in a group of dental anomalies, related by their embryologic development and by the fact that their defects provide a potential pathway for bacteria to cause pulpal pathology. It occurs when the inner enamel epithelium invaginates into the dental papilla prior to calcification. It exists in erupted teeth as an enamel-lined tract, which either ends in a blind sac inside the crown or root or exits into the periodontal ligament. The lining may be incomplete in areas and may not protect the pulp. Methods of providing preventive treatment for teeth with dens invaginatus are described. When pulpal pathosis occurs, the dens may displace the pulp and complicate access cavity preparation and subsequent endodontic treatment, adversely affecting the prognosis. The learning objective of this article is to present treatment planning considerations and suggestions. 相似文献

DNA-protein interactions were studied in the chromatin preparations obtained according to different procedures by means of nucleoprotein-celite chromatography. Three discrete fractions dissociating in 1M, 2M and 3M NaCl were observed in all preparations. The 1M fraction prevails in DNaseI-sensitive chromatin and the 2M fraction--in the resistant. Chromatin solubilized by MspI restrictase (the active chromatin) contains the 1M and 3M fractions, one solubilized by AluI (inactive)--the 2M fraction. Despite the presence of several human disease genes on chromosome 11q13, few of them have been molecularly cloned. Here, we report the construction of a contig map encompassing 11q13.1-q13.3 using bacteriophage P1 (P1), bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC), and P1-derived artificial chromosome (PAC). The contig map comprises 32 P1 clones, 27 BAC clones, 6 PAC clones, and 1 YAC clone and spans a 3-Mb region from D11S480 to D11S913. The map encompasses all the candidate loci of Bardet-Biedle syndrome type I (BBS1) and spinocerebellar ataxia type 5 (SCA5), one-third of the distal region for hereditary paraganglioma 2 (PGL2), and one-third of the central region for insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus 4 (IDDM4). In the process of map construction, 61 new sequence-tagged site (STS) markers were developed from the Not I linking clones and the termini of clone inserts. We have also mapped 30 ESTs on this map. This contig map will facilitate the isolation of polymorphic markers for a more refined analysis of the disease gene region and identification of candidate genes by direct cDNA selection, as well as prediction of gene function from sequence information of these bacterial clones. 相似文献

Three studies were conducted to evaluate amino acid utilization by cattle. In Exp. 1, five steers (580 kg) were fed 86% rolled corn diets with mixtures of amino acids containing up to 6 g/d DL-Met, 24 g/d L-Lys, 6 g/d L-Thr, and 3 g/d L-Trp. Treatments had little effect on ruminal fermentation, diet digestibility, N flow to the duodenum, or microbial efficiency. Ruminal concentrations of Met and Lys increased linearly (P < .05) with amino acid supplementation, whereas Thr responded quadratically, and Trp was not altered. In Exp. 2, four steers (414 kg) were used to measure effects of dietary monensin or laidlomycin propionate in high-grain diets supplemented with amino acids. Ionophores had no significant effect on ruminal fermentation or outflows of amino acids from the rumen. In Exp. 3, 100 steers (287 kg initial BW) were fed diets containing 1% of a nonprotein N source. Treatments were 1) no supplemental N (UREA), 2) UREA plus soybean meal (SBM), 3) UREA plus 2 g/d DL-Met, 8 g/d L-Lys, 2 g/d L-Thr, and 1 g/d L-Trp, or 4) UREA plus 4 g/d DL-Met, 16 g/d L-Lys, 4 g/d L-Thr, and 2 g/d L-Trp. During the growing period (diets based on whole-plant milo silage), gains were higher for SBM-supplemented steers than for UREA steers and intermediate for steers supplemented with amino acids. Few significant differences in performance were observed among treatments during the finishing phase (diets based on dry-rolled corn) or for the entire experiment, but cattle fed SBM or amino acids tended to be fatter and have better marbling scores and quality grades. In recent years, many investigators have proposed Gibbs prior models to regularize images reconstructed from emission computed tomography data. Unfortunately, hyperparameters used to specify Gibbs priors can greatly influence the degree of regularity imposed by such priors and, as a result, numerous procedures have been proposed to estimate hyperparameter values from observed image data. Many of these procedures attempt to maximize the joint posterior distribution on the image scene. To implement these methods, approximations to the joint posterior densities are required, because the dependence of the Gibbs partition function on the hyperparameter values is unknown. In this paper, we use recent results in Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) sampling to estimate the relative values of Gibbs partition functions and using these values, sample from joint posterior distributions on image scenes. This allows for a fully Bayesian procedure which does not fix the hyperparameters at some estimated or specified value, but enables uncertainty about these values to be propagated through to the estimated intensities. We utilize realizations from the posterior distribution for determining credible regions for the intensity of the emission source. We consider two different Markov random field (MRF) models-the power model and a line-site model. As applications we estimate the posterior distribution of source intensities from computer simulated data as well as data collected from a physical single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) phantom. 相似文献

The DNA and RNA contents, RNA/DNA ratio, and spontaneous and latex-induced oxidant activity indices of the whole blood were studied in the nitroblue tetrazolium test of mono- and polymorphonuclear blood leucocytes of intact dogs after injection of lipopolysaccharide pyrogenal. Significant changes in the above parameters were revealed for radioresistant (survived) and radiosensitive (lost) animals exposed to a subsequent prolonged gamma irradiation with a lethal dose of 7.64 Gy (LD75/45). Peroral introduction of 30 mg/kg indometofen (an indole analog of tamoxifen), which is a potential radioprotector, to dogs increased the survival rates of the irradiated dogs up to 93% and aided in the adaptive biochemical changes in the nuclear cell compartment of blood to induce a radioresistant status of the organism. 相似文献
