Quenching and blowoff limits of hydrogen diffusion flames on small burners were observed. Four burner types, with diameters as small as 8 μm, were considered: pinhole burners, curved-wall burners, tube burners, and leaky fittings. In terms of mass flow rate, hydrogen had a lower quenching limit and a higher blowoff limit than either methane or propane. Hydrogen flames at their quenching limits were the weakest flames recorded to date, with mass flow rates and heat release rates as low as 3.9 μg/s and 0.46 W. The quenching limit for a hydrogen flame at a 6 mm leaky compression fitting was found to be 28 μg/s. The expression of tissue transglutaminase (tTG) was studied during the formation of the normal human placenta and in molar pregnancies and choriocarcinoma, in order to correlate its expression with the functional characteristics of the recognized trophoblast cell types. tTG expression was found to be developmentally regulated. Before 6-7 weeks' gestation, only the chorionic villous cytotrophoblast expresses tTG. Thereafter the overlying syncytiotrophoblast becomes positive. tTG expression is gradually downregulated in the intermediate trophoblast cells emerging from the tips of the chorionic villi invading the uterine tissue. In the decidual wall, the intermediate trophoblast does not express tTG, whereas scattered syncytial cells, the placental bed giant cells, express tTG. Villi from complete hydatidiform mole (CHM) show tTG expression in both the cyto- and the syncytiotrophoblast. The intermediate trophoblast cells from CHM show heterogeneous tTG expression, with a majority of negative cells, whereas extravillous syncytia always express tTG. In choriocarcinoma, the tumour cells show heterogeneous tTG expression, with a majority of positive cells. Analysis of tTG protein and mRNA in placental extracts by Western and Northern blotting did not provide evidence for expression of the truncated form of tTG found in some cell types. The regulated expression of tTG in the normal placenta suggests that the enzyme is involved in important trophoblastic functions and may participate in the control of invasion. 相似文献
Through the 30-day postoperative period following focal right hemisphere cortical suction lesions, lesioned and sham-operated control male Sprague-Dawley rats were placed in cold water for 5 min either 4 times at weekly intervals, once during the 1st postoperative week, or not at all. Results indicate different effects of the swim on lesioned and control Ss. Stress at weekly intervals produced hyperactivity in controls but weekly stress in lesioned Ss blocked the development of their expected hyperactivity. A single stress experience occurring 1 wk postoperatively was also sufficient to block the development of hyperactivity in lesioned Ss. Infants who ingest high amounts of fluoride can be at risk of dental fluorosis. The authors analyzed the fluoride concentration of 238 commercially available infant foods. Fluoride concentrations ranged from 0.01 to 8.38 micrograms of fluoride per gram, with the highest fluoride concentrations found in infant foods containing chicken. Infant foods, especially those containing chicken, should be considered when determining total fluoride intake. 相似文献
The present study examined the efficacy of a behavioral intervention designed to increase adherence to fluid-intake restrictions among hemodialysis patients. Twenty intervention-group patients were compared with 20 matched control patients on an indicator of fluid-intake adherence at 3 time points. The Group X Time interaction was significant, indicating that patients in the 2 groups exhibited a differential pattern of change in fluid-intake adherence across the follow-up period. The intervention and control groups did not differ significantly in terms of adherence at the initial postintervention period but did differ at the 8-week follow-up. The observed group differences were, in part, due to a trend toward increasingly better adherence in the intervention group and poorer adherence in the control group across the follow-up period. (Z)‐3‐Acetoxymethyl‐4‐R‐3‐buten‐2‐ones (R=aryl, alkyl) and (Z)‐3‐methyl‐4‐R‐3‐buten‐2‐ones (R=aryl) were synthesized and submitted to reduction by the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae producing the (R)‐ and (S)‐4‐R‐3‐methybutan‐2‐ones, respectively. This stereochemistry control strategy was applied in the syntheses of (R)‐ and (S)‐Tropional® with moderate to high enantiomeric excesses. Other (Z)‐3‐acyloxymethyl‐4‐phenyl‐3‐buten‐2‐ones showed similar behavior to the (Z)‐3‐acetoxymethyl counterpart, and the acylated Morita–Baylis–Hillman adduct 1‐acetoxy‐2‐methylene‐1‐phenylbutan‐3‐one produced a mixture of products, with and without the acetoxy group, via three different reaction pathways. In addition to experiments employing whole cells, those in which isolated enereductases were used suggested that the main pathway through which the loss of the acetoxy group occurs during the biocatalytic cascade is an SN2′‐type reaction, rather than formal hydrogen addition followed by acetic acid elimination. Finally, related ethyl enones were reduced enantioselectively by the yeast Candida albicans, producing both (R)‐ and (S)‐reduction products, depending on the presence of the acetoxy group in the starting material.
A mechanical alloying (MA) process to transform elemental powders into solid Pb0.5Sn0.5Te with thermoelectric functionality comparable to melt-alloyed material is described. The room-temperature doping level and
mobility as well as temperature-dependent electrical conductivity, Seebeck coefficient, and thermal conductivity are reported.
Estimated values of lattice thermal conductivity (0.7 W m−1 K−1) are lower than some reports of functional melt-alloyed PbSnTe-based material, providing evidence that MA can engender the
combination of properties resulting in highly functional thermoelectric material. Though doping level and Sn composition have
not been optimized, this material exhibits a ZT value >0.5 at 550 K. 相似文献
