Prospects for CNC Machine Tools

The main global trends in the production of high-technology CNC systems are identified. Topics analyzed include system architecture; the use of high-speed industrial networks based on fieldbus technologies; the potential of multiple-channel and multiple-axis machining; spline interpolation in the machining of complex contours and free surfaces; and five-coordinate machining with 3D correction of the tool radius and length. In the light of global trends, decisions are made regarding the development of the AksiOMA Kontrol CNC system.     

Role of free Cys121 in stabilization of bovine beta-lactoglobulin B

Mixed disulfide derivatives of bovine beta-lactoglobulin (BLG) were studied by circular dichroism (CD), gel-permeation HPLC and high- sensitivity differential scanning calorimetry (HS-DSC). It was shown that modification of Cys121 with mercaptopropionic acid and mercaptoethanol does not affect the secondary structure of BLG, but results instead in tertiary and quaternary structure changes. At neutral pH, the equilibrium dimer<==>monomer of modified beta- lactoglobulin is shifted towards monomeric form. In contrast to native BLG, thermal denaturation of modified beta-lactoglobulin is fully reversible in neutral and acidic pH as demonstrated by CD and HS-DSC measurements. Modification of Cys121 results in a significant decrease of transition temperature (-6 degrees C) and enthalpy (-106 kJ/mol) at pH 2.05 while unfolding heat capacity increment remains unchanged. Thermal unfolding transitions of native and modified beta-lactoglobulin at pH 2.05 are well approximated by a two-state model suggesting that no intermediate states appear after modification. The difference in Gibbs energy of denaturation between native and modified beta- lactoglobulin, 8.5 kJ/mol at 37 degrees C and pH 2.05, does not depend on the nature of the introduced group (charged or neutral). Computer analysis of possible interactions involving Cys121 in a three- dimensional structure of beta-lactoglobulin revealed that the thiol group is too far away from neighboring residues to form side-chain hydrogen bonds. This suggests that the sulfhydryl group of Cys121 may contribute to the maintenance of BLG tertiary structure via water mediated H-bonding.

(接上期第43页) 3 下一代通信接入对广播电视业务发展的影响 3.1 突破用户接入的瓶颈 随着宽带业务的发展,网络接入部分(最后1 km)的带宽瓶颈问题显露出来.目前,接入部分两侧都已跨入吉比特级以上的速率,如用户端广泛使用的PC,其内部传送速率已达到32 Gb/s,城域网或长途网的每波长速率也已达到2.5～10 Gb/s,两者都比接入部分高出至少3个数量级.可见,尽快打通接入部分的带宽瓶颈,各种宽带服务与应用才能开展起来,网络容量的潜力才能真正发挥.     

Structure-functional organization of the angiotensin II molecule. III. Polyfunctional nature

Conformational properties of the molecules of angiotensin II and some of its analogs are analysed with regard to the quantitative characteristics of their biological activities. Connections between low-energy conformations of angiotensin II and its biological functions are established. The hormone's spatial structures plausible in terms of interactions with the specific receptors located in smooth muscles and adrenal cortex tissues have been identified.     

Cell behavior and signal molecule involvement in a case study of malignant histiocytosis: a negative model of morphine as an immunoregulator

OBJECTIVE: This paper identifies specific data items for use by state and local agencies in a maternal and child oral health needs assessment model. METHODS: A modified Delphi approach was used to develop consensus on items for inclusion in the data set and their relative importance. Initially, 31 data items were chosen from several national sources. All state dental directors, along with other selected administrators and advisory committee members for this process, were asked to categorize each of the data items as core (essential), important but optional, or of lesser importance. Short comments about each data item were accepted, as were additions to the list of data items. Two rounds of comments were held. RESULTS: Eleven data items/types of information were selected as core items to be included in all needs assessments. All but one of these items were determined by the scores of the respondents. The advisory committee strongly recommended that at least one core item relate to the public's perception of oral health. Some differences in perceived importance of several items existed among the state dental directors, local dental directors, and the advisory committee. Twenty-one items were identified as being important, but optional, and seven were considered less than important and not included in the model data set. CONCLUSIONS: A modified Delphi approach facilitated the development of core and optional data items for a model oral health needs assessment. This model has potential for a common reporting mechanism so that states and local dental programs can share data.     

Application of anti-E1 monoclonal antibodies to the study of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex

It has been shown that monoclonal antibody (mAb) F7F10 raised against pyruvate dehydrogenase component (E1) of pigeon breast muscle pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC) has no influence on the E1 activity, measured in the system with artificial oxidants. However it inhibited the full NAD+ and coenzyme A dependent activity of PDC. The competition of the F7F10 antibody with the E2 component of PDC for the binding with E1 was revealed by immunoenzymatic and kinetic analysis. It is suggested that F7F10 mAb interacts with an antigenic determinant, located in the immediate vicinity of or overlapping with the E1 region, responsible for the interaction with the E2 component of PDC.
