Crystalline helical carbon nanotubes (HCNTs) are synthesized as the main products in the pyrolysis of acetylene at 450 °C over Fe nanoparticles generated by means of a combined sol–gel/reduction method. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images reveal that there are two HCNTs attached to each Fe3C nanoparticle, and that the two HCNTs are mirror images of each other. Annealing in Ar at 750 °C and purification by immersion in hot (90 °C) HCl solution do not significantly change the structure of the HCNTs, despite the partial removal of Fe nanoparticles by the latter treatment. The magnetic properties of the as‐prepared, annealed, and purified HCNTs have been systematically examined. The annealed sample shows relatively high magnetization due to the ferromagnetic α‐Fe nanoparticles encapsulated in the HCNT nodes. In the case of HCl treatment, relatively pure HCNTs are obtained by the removal of ferromagnetic nanoparticles from the double‐HCNT nodes. The effects of the amount of catalyst used in the synthesis process on the morphology and yield of the carbon products have also been investigated. 相似文献

The problem of reducing the pulsating torque in current source inverter induction motor systems is investigated. Two typical approaches presented in recent publications are analyzed by making clear 1) the correlation among the current harmonics and the torque harmonics, and 2) the conceptual contradiction existing between these two approaches. By synthesizing the analyzed results, fundamental principles for treating the current harmonics and torque harmonics are established. In addition, the method for evaluating the degree of torque ripple is described, along with a proposed criterion for torque ripple content. By applying this criterion to these two approaches, objective estimates of degree of torque pulsations, which were unfeasible so far, are now made possible. 相似文献

This paper presents theory and algorithms for validation in system identification of state-space models from finite input-output sequences in a subspace model identification framework. Our formulation includes the problem of rank-deficient residual covariance matrices, a case which is encountered in applications with mixed stochastic-deterministic input-output properties as well as for cases where outputs are linearly dependent. Similar to the case of prediction-error identification, it is shown that the resulting model can be decomposed into an input-output model and a stochastic innovations model. Using the Riccati equation, we have designed a procedure to provide a reduced-order stochastic model that is minimal with respect to system order as well as the number of stochastic inputs thereby avoiding several problems appearing in standard application of stochastic realization to the model validation problem. 相似文献

The self is defined and judged differently by people from face and dignity cultures (in this case, Hong Kong and the United States, respectively). Across 3 experiments, people from a face culture absorbed the judgments of other people into their private self-definitions. Particularly important for people from a face culture are public representations—knowledge that is shared and known to be shared about someone. In contrast, people from a dignity culture try to preserve the sovereign self by not letting others define them. In the 3 experiments, dignity culture participants showed a studied indifference to the judgments of their peers, ignoring peers' assessments—whether those assessments were public or private, were positive or negative, or were made by qualified peers or unqualified peers. In many printer and publishing applications, it is desirable to embed data in halftone images. We proposed some novel data hiding methods for halftone images. For the situation in which only the halftone image is available, we propose data hiding smart pair toggling (DHSPT) to hide data by forced complementary toggling at pseudo-random locations within a halftone image. The complementary pixels are chosen to minimize the chance of forming visually undesirable clusters. Our experimental results suggest that DHSPT can hide a large amount of hidden data while maintaining good visual quality. For the situation in which the original multitone image is available and the halftoning method is error diffusion, we propose the modified data hiding error diffusion (MDHED) that integrates the data hiding operation into the error diffusion process. In MDHED, the error due to the data hiding is diffused effectively to both past and future pixels. Our experimental results suggest that MDHED can give better visual quality than DHSPT. Cracks induced by external excitation on a material that has defects may generate the stress concentration phenomenon. The
stress concentration behaviour causes local buckling, which will induce the damage of the members made of this material. Thus,
developing techniques to monitor the strain variation of a cracked member is an important study. The traditional technique
(such as strain gauge) can only measure the average strain of a region. The strain variation within this region cannot be
determined. Therefore, it cannot sufficiently reflect the mechanical behaviour surrounding the crack. The Digital image correlation
technique recently developed is an image identification technique to be applied for measuring the object deformation. This
technique is capable of correlating the digital images of an object before and after deformation and further determining the
displacement and strain field of an object based on the corresponding position on the image. In this work, this technique
is applied to analyse the mechanics of a cylindrical pipe experiencing crack destruction. The fixing device is used to avoid
shaking the specimen during the pressurizing process. The image capture instruments are fixed on the stable frame to measure
the deformation of specimen accurately. Through the cylindrical pipe cracking test, the capacity of the digital image correlation
technique for surveying the strain variation in a tiny region is validated. Then, the experimental results obtained using
the digital image correlation analysis is used to demonstrate the crack development tendency in defect materials and the stress
