The mechanical performance of TRIP-120 a novel transformation induced plasticity steel alloy, is evaluated for different loading cases and strain rates. The performance is compared with HSLA-100, a low-alloy steel developed by the United States Navy and currently used in naval hulls. The response of these materials under uniaxial tension and shear was investigated to the point of fracture at isothermal and adiabatic conditions. TRIP-120 shows a significant improvement in dissipated energy at fracture compared to HSLA-100. SEM images of ductile fracture surfaces for tensile and torsion samples of both TRIP-120 and HSLA-100 are compared, and the presence of transformed martensite in the TRIP-120 dynamic torsion specimens is confirmed with optical microscopy and magnetometry.  相似文献

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Low Pressure Manometry Project maintains and operates primary standard ultrasonic interferometer manometers (UIMs) over the pressure range of 1 mPa to 360 kPa. Over the past decade a new type of customer gauge, the non-rotating force-balanced piston gauge or FPG (model 8601, DH Instruments, a Fluke Company1) has been introduced to the standards community that covers the range of ≈1–15,000 Pa and is capable of both absolute and differential measurement modes. Since 2002, NIST customers2 have requested that four different FPG units be compared to the NIST primary pressure ultrasonic interferometer manometer standards (UIMs). The results of the comparisons were that all four FPG units were within manufacturers stated uncertainty (0.008 Pa + 30 × 10−6 × P for absolute mode) when compared against the NIST UIMs at pressures between 10 Pa and 15,000 Pa (absolute mode). At pressures between 5 Pa and 10 Pa, the results were generally within manufacturer’s specifications. Below 5 Pa some of the FPG units were outside of manufacturer’s uncertainty specifications. The use of an isolating capacitance diaphragm gauge (CDG) was necessary during the comparisons to prevent humidified gas from the FPG from entering the NIST 160 kPa mercury UIM primary pressure standard. The results of these four different comparison tests will be discussed in detail, along with test conditions, equipment set-up, and test uncertainty analysis.  相似文献

The first 96 and 192 beam vacuum Hohlraum target experiments have been fielded at the National Ignition Facility demonstrating radiation temperatures up to 340 eV and fluxes of 20 TW/sr as viewed by DANTE representing an ~20?times flux increase over NOVA/Omega scale Hohlraums. The vacuum Hohlraums were irradiated with 2 ns square laser pulses with energies between 150 and 635 kJ. They produced nearly Planckian spectra with about 30±10% more flux than predicted by the preshot radiation hydrodynamic simulations. To validate these results, careful verification of all component calibrations, cable deconvolution, and software analysis routines has been conducted. In addition, a half Hohlraum experiment was conducted using a single 2 ns long axial quad with an irradiance of ~2×10(15)?W/cm(2) for comparison with NIF Early Light experiments completed in 2004. We have also completed a conversion efficiency test using a 128-beam nearly uniformly illuminated gold sphere with intensities kept low (at 1×10(14)?W/cm(2) over 5 ns) to avoid sensitivity to modeling uncertainties for nonlocal heat conduction and nonlinear absorption mechanisms, to compare with similar intensity, 3 ns OMEGA sphere results. The 2004 and 2009 NIF half-Hohlraums agreed to 10% in flux, but more importantly, the 2006 OMEGA Au Sphere, the 2009 NIF Au sphere, and the calculated Au conversion efficiency agree to ±5% in flux, which is estimated to be the absolute calibration accuracy of the DANTEs. Hence we conclude that the 30±10% higher than expected radiation fluxes from the 96 and 192 beam vacuum Hohlraums are attributable to differences in physics of the larger Hohlraums.  相似文献

Recent work has shown that tailored overcomplete dictionaries can provide a better image model than standard basis functions for a variety of image processing tasks. Here we propose a modified K-SVD dictionary learning algorithm designed to maintain the advantages of the original approach but with a focus on improved convergence. We then use the learned model to denoise infrared maritime imagery and compare the performance to the original K-SVD algorithm, several overcomplete "fixed" dictionaries, and a standard wavelet denoising algorithm. Results indicate the superiority of overcomplete representations and show that our tailored approach provides similar peak signal-to-noise ratios as the traditional K-SVD at roughly half the computational cost.  相似文献

Screening programs using retinal photography for the detection of diabetic eye disease are being introduced in the UK and elsewhere. Automatic grading of the images is being considered by health boards so that the human grading task is reduced. Microaneurysms (MAs) are the earliest sign of this disease and so are very important for classifying whether images show signs of retinopathy. This paper describes automatic methods for MA detection and shows how image contrast normalization can improve the ability to distinguish between MAs and other dots that occur on the retina. Various methods for contrast normalization are compared. Best results were obtained with a method that uses the watershed transform to derive a region that contains no vessels or other lesions. Dots within vessels are handled successfully using a local vessel detection technique. Results are presented for detection of individual MAs and for detection of images containing MAs. Images containing MAs are detected with sensitivity 85.4% and specificity 83.1%.  相似文献

We have developed a coevolutionary method for the computational design of HIV-1 protease inhibitors selected for their ability to retain efficacy in the face of protease mutation. For HIV-1 protease, typical drug design techniques are shown to be ineffective for the design of resistance-evading inhibitors: An inhibitor that is a direct analogue of one of the natural substrates will be susceptible to resistance mutation, as will inhibitors designed to fill the active site of the wild-type or a mutant enzyme. Two design principles are demonstrated: (i) For enzymes with broad substrate specificity, such as HIV-1 protease, resistance-evading inhibitors are best designed against the immutable properties of the active site-the properties that must be conserved in any mutant protease to retain the ability to bind and cleave all of the native substrates. (ii) Robust resistance-evading inhibitors can be designed by optimizing activity simultaneously against a large set of mutant enzymes, incorporating as much of the mutational space as possible.  相似文献

We have shown in previous work that the parameters governing the dynamic evolution of a system of ordinary differential equations may be modified via an evolutionary algorithm to yield excitations that improve damage detection sensitivity in a computational model of a structural health monitoring application. In this work we use the same method to develop improved excitations for an experimental system. Improvement in change detection sensitivity is shown for several generated excitations. In addition, we present an excitation that increases the robustness of the damage detection feature to the types of parameter perturbations that arise not from damage, but from environmental sources such as temperature change.  相似文献
