The use of immunomodulators in the surgical treatment of complicated gastric disease

While examination of 83 patients it was established that in the presence of complicated gastric and duodenal ulcer disease the secondary immune deficiency is developing, which deepens after the surgical intervention conduction. Tiotriazolin, promoting the immune system state and the blood biochemistry indexes normalization, the immune system state and the blood biochemistry indexes stimulation, hemopoiesis stimulation, the treatment results improvement, was applied for immunomodulation.     

Restriction polymorphism of the APOB locus in residents of the city of Tomsk

Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) of the apolipoprotein B locus was investigated in the population of Tomsk. The frequencies of alleles and haplotypes of polymorphic restriction sites XbaI, MspI, and EcoRI were determined. The parameters of linkage disequilibrium and polymorphism information content (PIC) were estimated. Comparative data on various regions of the world are shown.     

Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy for characterization of structural characteristics of carbon chains in alpha1-acid glycoprotein and pseudoglycoproteins]

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy was used to study the structure of carbohydrate chains in glycosylated forms of alpha 1-acid glycoprotein (AGP) and in pseudoglycoproteins obtained by transferring the carbohydrate chains of AGP to a polyacrylamide carrier. It was found that AGP-D glycoform and pseudoglycoproteins containing three or more glycans per molecule, which possess high immunomodulating activity, have a specific spatial organization of carbohydrate chains. This organization is maintained by the interaction of neighboring glycans with each other and does not depend on the nature of the carrier (whether it is polypeptide or polyacrylamide).     

Evaluation of a sexual abuse prevention program for adults with mental retardation

We have measured the Fourier transform spectrum of natural OCS from 3700 to 4800 cm-1 with a near Doppler resolution and a line-position accuracy between 4 and 8 x 10(-5) cm-1. For the normal isotopic species, 37 vibrational transitions have been analyzed for both frequencies and intensities. We also report 15 bands of OC34S, eight bands of O13CS, nine bands of OC33S, and two bands of 18OCS. Important effective Herman-Wallis terms are explained on the basis of eigenvectors. A comparison of different line-pointing programs is also presented. Copyright 1998 Academic Press.     

The work of the epidemiological health laboratory of the Black Sea Fleet in World War II

Between October 1983 and December 1991, 14 patients (mean age 48.1 [range 38 to 68] years) presented with single, clear, cystic-appearing juxtafoveal lesions beneath the retina, with discrete borders measuring approximately 2 mm in diameter. All patients had vision of 6/7.5 or better, which did not deteriorate over a follow-up period of 3 to 91 (mean 18.1) months. Angiographically, the lesions showed relative homogeneous hyperfluorescence with very discrete margins, the angiographic appearance of serous retinal pigment epithelial detachment. We describe the clinical and angiographic appearance on presentation and in follow-up and discuss the probable relationship of these lesions to central serous choroidopathy.
