Experimental studies making use of morphological and x-ray methods demonstrated that in comparison with control (filling of mandibular bone defects with blood clots) chonsuride, an animal polysaccharide, promoted earlier filling of postoperative bone cavities with connective tissue replacement of this tissue with coarse-fiber bone tissue. Anodizing of solid-solution Al-1at.%Cu alloy in ammonium pentaborate electrolyte is shown to develop two distinct types of amorphous film. On alloy grains of {1 0 0} orientation, the alumina film is of uniform thickness and relatively featureless. For other grains, the film is of non-uniform thickness and contains oxygen bubbles. In both cases, copper species are distributed throughout the film. Copper is enriched in the alloy to ∼5.8×1015 Cu atoms cm−2 for bubble-free grains, with similar or slightly lower levels for other grains. Evidently, copper enrichment alone does not lead to generation of oxygen. Other factors suggested to be involved, each dependent upon grain orientation, are the structure of the enriched alloy layer, the cyclic nature of the oxidation of copper, and the generation of modulated film compositions. 相似文献

Topographical cues have a significant impact on cell responses and by this means, on the fabrication of innovative implant materials. However, analysis of cell-topography interactions in dependence of the surface feature dimensions is still challenging due to limitations in the fabrication technology. Here, we introduce surface structuring via picosecond laser systems, which enable a fast production of micro-sized topologies. Changes in the processing parameters further control the feature sizes of so-called spikes. Using surfaces with big and small spike-to-spike-distances for comparisons, we focussed on cell adhesion via extracellular matrix adsorption and focal adhesion complexes, morphology, localisation and proliferation of fibroblasts. The observed cell control was dependent on a turnover point related to the structure dimensions: only big spike-to-spike-distances reduced cell behaviour. We have developed a model of ischaemia-reperfusion injury in C57BL/6 mice involving ischaemia for 0.5 to 2.5 h with an elastic tourniquet on one hind limb and reperfusion for 24 h, analogous to a well-established model of ischaemia-reperfusion injury in the rat. Viability was assessed in tissue homogenates of the gastrocnemius muscles from the affected and contralateral control limb by a triphenyl tetrazolium chloride dye reaction, measuring the activity of the oxidative mitochondrial enzymes. After 1.5 h ischaemia and 24 h reperfusion, viability in the ischaemic-reperfused limb was 13%, with the control muscle regarded as 100% viable. Significant improvements in viability to 86% (P < 0.05) and 56% (P < 0.05) were achieved, with administration 30 min prior to tourniquet release, of the nitric oxide (NO) synthase inhibitor nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME, 30 mg/kg) and the anti-inflammatory glucocorticoid dexamethasone (2.5 mg/kg) respectively, with similar findings in the rat tourniquet model. 相似文献

The effect of high dose of gamma radiation (200 Gy) on energy of rat liver mitochondria was studied. 1 hour after irradiation state 3 (V3) increased by 32 +/- 7%, state 4 (V4)- by 25 +/- 8%, the rate of ATP synthesis by 52 +/- 11%. 48 hours after irradiation these parameters decreased to control levels inspite of accumulation of lipid peroxidation products. 相似文献

Generally, impulse propagation in cardiac tissue is assumed to be impaired by a reduction of intercellular electrical coupling or by the presence of structural discontinuities. Contrary to this notion, the spatially uniform reduction of electrical coupling induced successful conduction in discontinuous cardiac tissue structures exhibiting unidirectional conduction block. This seemingly paradoxical finding can be explained by a nonsymmetric effect of uncoupling on the current source and the current sink in the preparations used. It suggests that partial cellular uncoupling might prevent the initiation of cardiac arrhythmias that are dependent on the presence of unidirectional conduction block. 相似文献
