Xanthurenic acid inhibits the activity of an experimental epileptogenic focus in the rat hippocampus

Comparative analysis of application effectiveness of endolymphatic and conventional ways of preparations introduction at the time of preoperative schedule and the patients treatment with a wide spread destructive lung tuberculosis was conducted an original schemes of endolymphatic therapy application before and early after the operation are adduced. Endolymphatic application of preparations permitted to reduce the postoperative pleural empyema with bronchial fistula occurrence by 20.1%, without bronchial fistula-by 4.8%, the specific process exacerbation-by 8%, operative wound suppuration-by 10.5%, to reduce the general mortality by 18.8%.     

Influence of the hydrocarbon composition of vacuum residues on their kinetic behavior in oxidation

The Ehrlichieae are gram-negative obligately intracellular bacterial pathogens. They can be divided into at least three genogroups on the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequences, but are also classified by target cell specificity. A group of granulocytic ehrlichiae primarily infect neutrophils and fall into genogroup II. The granulocytic ehrlichiae are subdivided by their target hosts, i.e., Ehrlichia phagocytophila in cattle and sheep, E. equi in horses, and the agents of human (HGE) and llama (LGE) granulocytic ehrlichioses. However, these subdivisions may give a false impression, as all these species are closely related both antigenically and on the basis of 16S rRNA operon sequence. In addition, cross-species transmission can occur naturally or by experimental infection. The vectors for these granulocytic ehrlichiae are hard-bodied ixodid ticks, and the reservoir hosts are probably wild rodents, deer and sheep. In each host, this illness presents as a febrile disease which can be followed by immunosuppression leading to secondary infections.     

Bile duct decompression and immune correction in the surgical treatment of mechanical jaundice of non-tumor origin

The aims of the study were: 1) to determine optimal duration of bile ducts decompression (BDD) and terms for radical operation performance; 2) to define criteria of effectiveness of the decompression and readiness of the patients for radical surgical treatment; 3) to analyze disorders in liver function and indices of immunoreactivity in relation to the method and duration of BDD; 4) to develop method of immunocompression for increase of effectiveness of BDD. The patients were divided in to three groups. 28 patients of group 1 had duration of jaundice up to 5 days and bilirubinemia up to 86.3 +/- 3.12 mmol/l. 35 patients of group 2 jaundice up to 15 days and bilirubinemia up to 184.7 +/- 4.22 mmol/l. In group 342 patients had bilirubinemia up to 124.4 +/- 2.23 mmol/l and cholangitis. External decompression of bile ducts quickly promotes restoration of drainage function of the liver and normalization of biochemical indexes. Restoration of immunological indexes in groups 2 and 3 is progressing slowly and demands immunocorrection. Indexes of immunoreactivity and biochemical data of functional status of the liver could serve as criteria of effectiveness of bile ducts decompression and possibility of radical surgical treatment. Regional immunocorrection is indicated for the patients' preparation for surgery.
