Using arguments based on the d.c. equivalent circuit of a planar bipolar transistor, it is shown that the ratio ICEO/ICBO is a measure of the significance of surface recombination current. Measurements of 1/f noise and ICEO/ICBO for a variety of transistors provide new evidence that the 1/f noise is due to the surface recombination current.  相似文献

Retardation in the fatigue crack growth rate following the application of a single peak overload in a fatigue loading sequence has been studied for a low carbon structural steel. Tests have been performed at load ratios of R= 0.2 and R= 0.6 at a baseline stress intensity range, ΔKb, corresponding to fatigue crack growth rates in the Paris regime. Single peak overloads were applied at a crack-length to specimen-width ratio of a/W= 0.5. At the load ratio of R= 0.6 monotonic or “static” fracture modes were observed upon application of the overload, and these produced an immediate increase in growth rate. A subsequent retardation is attributed to the presence of a residual compressive stress field ahead of the crack tip. A similar retardation was observed at a load ratio of 0.2. The importance of residual stress was established by performing stress relieving experiments. In addition, removal of the surface deformation after an overload by machining “T” sidegrooves resulted in an extended transient, which could not be explained by residual machining stresses.  相似文献

Plasma 3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenylglycol (MHPG) and homovanillic acid (HVA) levels may reflect changes in central noradrenergic and dopaminergic activity, respectively. The relationship between MHPG and HVA in saliva and plasma was investigated to evaluate the utility of salivary metabolite measurement as a relatively noninvasive and useful alternative to plasma analysis. MHPG and HVA in saliva and plasma, collected concurrently, from 12 healthy volunteers, were measured by high-performance liquid chromatography. Concentration of free MHPG in saliva correlated significantly with plasma free MHPG. Salivary free MHPG was significantly higher than in plasma. Enzymatic hydrolysis of conjugated MHPG corroborated other work that plasma free MHPG, MHPG-glucuronide, and MHPG-sulfate were in roughly equal proportions. Unpredictably, in saliva, free MHPG was greater than 80% of the total. Salivary and plasma free HVA concentrations also correlated significantly, but salivary HVA levels were significantly lower than in plasma. Conjugated HVA was consistently less than 10% of total both in saliva and plasma. These findings suggest that salivary MHPG and HVA can reflect plasma metabolite levels. Although local factors may influence their formation and concentration in saliva, large changes in plasma free MHPG or HVA could be reflected by parallel changes in saliva.  相似文献

This study examined the extent to which chronic d-amphetamine administration sensitizes animals to some behavioral and neurochemical effects of foot shock stress. Rats received daily injections of saline for 14 days or d-amphetamine (2 mg/kg 7 days and 4 mg/kg 7 days). After a 7 day drug abstinent period, extracellular dopamine, 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid and homovanillic acid concentrations were measured in the medial prefrontal cortex using in vivo microdialysis in freely moving rats. The behavioral responses to mild foot shock stress were enhanced in the d-amphetamine-pretreated subjects. Concomitant with this behavioral sensitization, d-amphetamine-pretreated subjects showed greater stress-induced increases in extracellular dopamine in the medial prefrontal cortex than in controls. d-Amphetamine (2 mg/kg)-induced stereotyped behavior was also enhanced in the amphetamine-pretreated animals compared to controls; however, d-amphetamine-induced increases in extracellular dopamine in the medial prefrontal cortex were not enhanced in the amphetamine-pretreated group. These results suggest that the mesocortical dopaminergic system is involved in cross-sensitization between d-amphetamine and stress, but not in d-amphetamine-induced behavioral sensitization.  相似文献

In a 4-wk study, 10-wk-old Wistar rats were fed the nephrotoxins hexachloro-1,3-butadiene (HCBD), mercuric chloride, d-limonene and lysinoalanine either alone or in combination. These nephrotoxins damage epithelial cells of the proximal tubules, but by different mechanisms. Each chemical was given alone at a Minimum-Nephrotoxic-Effect Level (MNEL), and at a No-Nephrotoxic-Effect Level (NNEL). The combination was given at the MNEL, the NNEL and one-quarter of the NNEL of the individual chemicals. The individual nephrotoxins caused slight growth depression in males at the MNEL, but not at the NNEL, whereas the combination depressed growth slightly at the NNEL and severely at the MNEL. In females at the MNEL, only HCBD retarded growth; in contrast to the effect in males this was not aggravated by combined treatment. Nephrotoxicity was more severe in males fed the combination than in males given the nephrotoxins alone. The former showed decreased renal concentrating ability and moderate histopathological changes in the kidneys at the MNEL, and a dose-dependent increase in kidney weight and number of epithelial cells in the urine at the NNEL and the MNEL. The males treated with a single agent showed slightly increased kidney weights, and/or slight histopathological changes in the kidneys at the MNEL, and (with d-limonene only) epithelial cells in the urine at the NNEL and MNEL. In females, renal changes induced by the combination were not more severe than those observed with individual compounds. No adverse changes attributable to treatment were observed in rats fed the combination at one-quarter of the NNEL. In the present study, combined exposure to four nephrotoxins at their individual NNEL did not constitute an obviously increased hazard, indicating absence of synergistic interaction, whereas at the MNEL clearly enhanced (renal) toxicity occurred in males, although not in females.  相似文献

The beta-lactam susceptibilities of 65 strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae for which penicillin MICs covered a broad range were assessed. The order of potency was amoxicillin (AMX) = amoxicillin-clavulanate (AMC) > penicillin G > cefpodoxime (CPO) > cefuroxime (CXM) > cefprozil > cefaclor > loracarbef > cefixime. No decrease in susceptibility was seen following repeated subculture of two penicillin-susceptible strains of S. pneumoniae in AMX, AMC, cefaclor, or loracarbef, whereas repeated exposure to CPO and CXM resulted in 4- to 32-fold decreases in susceptibility for both strains. When one of these strains was exposed to concentrations of CPO, CXM, AMX, and AMC achieved in the serum of humans following the administration of an oral dose, all agents were rapidly bactericidal, with no decrease in susceptibility up to 72 h. This was consistent with antibiotic concentrations exceeding the MICs for 100% of the dosing interval. For a penicillin-resistant strain, MICs were exceeded for 29% of the 12-h dosing interval for 500 mg of AMX, 42% of the interval for AMC with 875 mg of AMX and 125 mg of clavulanate (875/125 mg of AMC) 21% of the interval for 500 mg of CXM, and 0% of the interval for 200 mg of CPO. Consequently, only 875/125 mg of AMC produced a sustained bactericidal effect. A four- to eightfold reduction in susceptibility to CPO and CXM and cross-resistance with cefotaxime, but not penicillin or AMC, were selected following exposure to simulated serum CPO and CXM concentrations. In addition, AMX and AMC were the only agents which consistently produced a >99% reduction in bacterial numbers in time-kill studies using concentrations of antibiotic achieved in middle ear fluid for all three strains of penicillin-resistant S. pneumoniae tested.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the interaction between sulfogalactosylceramide (SGC) and dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC) in a mixed model liposomal system (molar ratio SGC:DMPC, 2:3). Structural and dynamic changes of the liposome components were monitored by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Thermotropic FTIR analysis of the mixed liposomes showed a single gel/liquid crystalline phase transition, centered at approximately 42 degrees C. Spectral changes of the amide and ester C = O bands arising from functional groups at the interfacial region indicated a reduced hydrogen bonding of these groups in the mixed liposomes. Pressure-tuning FTIR of mixed liposomes showed that the methylene chains of SGC and DMPC were more orientationally disordered than those of the individual lipid SGC liposomes or DMPC liposomes. These results suggest that the mixed liposomes (molar ratio SGC:DMPC, 2:3) consisted of a homogeneous mixture of SGC and DMPC molecules in which mutual shielding reduced hydrogen bonding in the interfacial region, with a concurrent increase in the orientational disorder of the hydrocarbon chains of both SGC and DMPC.  相似文献

Corner reflectors are inadvertently formed by many surfaces on ships and military ground vehicles and can be dominant contributors to the radar cross section (RCS). The monostatic return from such structures can be reduced by ensuring that flat surfaces never meet at right angles. A criterion is developed that gives the required angle as a function of the RCS reduction desired and the electrical size of the corner faces.  相似文献

The cocaine analog 2 beta-carbomethoxy-3 beta-[4-iodophenyl]tropane (beta-CIT) labeled with 11C was used to study dopamine reuptake sites with PET. METHODS: Three normal subjects and nine patients with Parkinson's disease were investigated. Each of them underwent a dynamic PET scan (25 timeframes over 80 min) with [11C]-beta-CIT. A dose of 102.5-211.3 MBq (2.77-5.71 mCi) of this ligand was administered intravenously and a PET examination with an ECAT 931/08 PET camera was carried out. Ratios between the striatal/cortical/thalamic/midbrain and cerebellar uptake of this radioligand were calculated. RESULTS: The highest accumulation of [11C]beta-CIT was observed in the caudate and putamen, though there was some uptake in the thalamus and the midbrain. Cortical uptake was negligible. Carbon-11-beta-CIT accumulated significantly less in the putamen of the Parkinson's patients than in the normal subjects. The putamen-to-cerebellum ratio in the Parkinson's patients was 1.59 +/- 0.04 and 1.80 +/- 0.13s (p = 0.028) in the normal subjects. In the caudate, there was no significant difference between the Parkinson's patients and the normal subjects. CONCLUSION: These results imply that [11C]beta-CIT is a useful compound for carrying out a PET examination of the function of the presynaptic monoaminergic neurons both in normal and pathological brains.  相似文献
