The results of field clinical trials of Russian and American yeast vaccines against hepatitis B are presented. The study revealed that both vaccines were faintly reactogenic, safe and exhibited high immunological activity. After the full course of immunization following the schedule 0-1-2 months 92.5% and 97.5% of patients receiving, respectively. Russian vaccine "Combiotech" and American vaccine "H-B-Vax II" were found to have specific antibodies. The maximum effect was registered when the vaccines were introduced according to the schedule 0-1-6 months. Seroconversions were observed in 97.5% and 100% of the vaccinees receiving the Russian and American vaccines respectively, in the latter case the highest antibody level being observed. The use of the vaccines within the prophylactic immunization schedule showed that antibodies to hepatitis B appeared in immunized children in 93-100% of cases. Seroconversion indices and the levels of antibodies to diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis and measles were statistically significant and were the same in children receiving only the vaccines according to the immunization schedule and in children immunized, in addition to these vaccines, against hepatitis B. 相似文献

The European Union regulations require safety and health protection of workers who are potentially at risk from explosive atmosphere areas. According to the requirements, the operators of installations where potentially explosive atmosphere can occur are obliged to produce an explosion protection document. The key objective of this document is the assessment of explosion risks. This paper is concerned with the so-called explosion layer of protection analysis (exLOPA), which allows for semi-quantitative explosion risk assessment for process plants where explosive atmospheres occur. The exLOPA is based on the original work of CCPS for LOPA but takes into account some typical factors appropriate for explosion, like the probability that an explosive atmosphere will occur, probability that sources of ignition will be present and become effective as well as the probability of failure on demand for appropriate explosion prevention and mitigation means. 相似文献

From 1994 to 1997, the proportion of Neisseria gonorrhoeae highly resistant to ciprofloxacin (MIC >/=4 microg/mL) increased substantially among female sex workers (FSWs) in the Philippines. Among 1499 Filipina FSWs, we evaluated factors associated with gonococcal infection and with gonococcal antimicrobial resistance. By multivariate analysis, gonococcal infection was associated with sex with a new client, self-prescribed prophylactic antimicrobial use, work in a brothel, and inconsistent condom use and was negatively associated with registration status and vaginal hygiene practices. Factors associated with ciprofloxacin-resistant gonococci included: marital status, living alone, duration of sex work, and clinic site. Further, gonococci highly resistant to ciprofloxacin were isolated from 10 (11.5%) of 87 FSWs reporting self-prescribed antimicrobial use versus 44 (3.4%) of 1295 reporting no antimicrobial use (P<.001). Self-prescribed prophylactic antimicrobial use and inconsistent condom use could be important factors in the continued emergence of gonococcal antimicrobial resistance in the Philippines. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to determine the compression characteristics of nonhomogeneous plant materials with a complex morphological structure (beetroots, celery roots, and potato tubers), to compare the analyzed samples with the compression characteristics of reference materials (homogeneous isotropic structural materials: steel coil spring and vulcanized rubber), and to determine the influence of the compression rate on stress in compressed samples. Structural materials and plant materials clearly differed in compression characteristics. Excluding the short initial compression phase, the compression curves for the steel coil spring and vulcanized rubber were straight parallel lines, and the higher the crosshead speed, the higher the lines' location in the diagram. In tests conducted on plant materials, the rate of changes in compression force increased throughout the experiment with an increase in crosshead speed. The greatest variations in compression force resulting from differences in crosshead speed were observed in potato samples. The apparent retardation times determined in the developed rheological model ranged from 0.079 s for the steel coil spring to 6.863 s for potatoes. 相似文献

Reports on the success or failure of enterprise information system (EIS) implementation have been decidedly mixed. In this study, we focus on manufacturing infrastructure preparation prior to EIS implementation and report the results of a survey of 152 US manufacturing companies that have implemented EIS. We have provided four major findings in this study: (1) the requirements from customers and trading partners are more powerful drivers motivating US manufacturing firms to implementing enterprise systems than internal business planning needs; (2) one manufacturing infrastructural issue often has implications for other infrastructural items in implementing technology, so various manufacturing infrastructural issues should be prepared simultaneously; (3) manufacturing infrastructure preparation prior to EIS implementation has significant positive effects on customer-focused performance, production/operations performance, and financial performance; and (4) better customer-focused performance contributes to better financial performance. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of microwave-vacuum pretreatment conducted at 100, 500 and 800 W on the drying kinetics of whole cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon) during hybrid osmotic and microwave-vacuum drying. Additionally, the effect of microwave-vacuum pretreatment and subsequent osmo-microwave-vacuum drying on selected quality indicators of dried cranberries, including phenolic content, antioxidant activity and color, was studied, and the quality of samples was compared with freeze dried, microwave-vacuum dried and osmo-microwave-vacuum dried samples. Irrespective of microwave power, the initial pretreatment accelerated mass transfer during osmotic dehydration of cranberries, and the Weibull model well fitted the experimental data. Final microwave-vacuum drying of cranberries was a two-stage process involving a relatively long phase with a constant drying rate, followed by a short period with a decreasing drying rate. Microwave-vacuum and osmo-microwave-vacuum drying resulted in similar retention of polyphenols and similar antioxidant activity, both of which were relatively higher than in freeze-dried cranberries. However, microwave-vacuum pretreatment at low microwave power (100 W) before dehydration also resulted in high retention of phenolic compounds, high antioxidant activity and attractive color, which were consistent with the high content of total anthocyanins and flavonoids. Microwave-vacuum, osmo-microwave-vacuum and osmo-microwave-vacuum drying combined with microwave-vacuum pretreatment at low microwave power (100 W) were the most suitable methods for the production of high-quality dried whole cranberries. 相似文献

ABSTRACT An experimental study was conducted to apply the jet spouted bed (JSB) dryer with inert bodies for drying of fodder antibiotic; (zinc-salt bacitracin and tylosin) and baker's yeast which are extracted from fermentation broth. After establishing the drving properties of these products (e.g. sorption isotherm, water activity and thermostability), the influence of basic drying parameters (temperature of drying agent, bed loading, gas flow rate) on drying characteristics and quality of the products was determined. The results proved that a JSB dryer may be successfully applied to fodder antibiotics; especially to Zn-bacitracin; however, for a highly labile live organism like baker's yeast, this method cannot be used. A conceptual factory to produce hydrogen from starchy biomass is considered. The production plant comprises a pretreatment unit for starchy raw material, a bioreactor for dark fermentation, a photobioreactor for photofermentation and gas upgrading & compression units, and is supplied with the necessary heat and power from the power plant. In the power plant, a part of the stream of raw gas produced in bioreactors is burned in a steam boiler and in addition some product gas from the upgrading unit is directed to fuel cells from which waste gas flows to a catalytic oxidizer. The demand for process heat is covered by steam generation in the boiler and oxidizer, and the power demand is covered by electricity generation in the fuel cells. 相似文献
