Mixed-Cation Thallium Phosphates Containing Di-, Tri-, and Pentavalent Cations

The mixed phosphates TlMn²⁺P₃O₉(a= 9.422 Å, b= 7.3199 Å, c= 12.227 Å sp. gr. Pnma), TlGaHP₃O₁₀(a= 12.01 Å, b= 8.471 Å, c= 9.098 Å, = 111.98° sp. gr. C2/c), and TlTa(PO₄)₂(a= 5.0308 Å, c= 8.497 Å sp. gr. P321) were obtained by precipitation from polyphosphoric-acid melts containing di-, tri-, and pentavalent cations in combination with Tl⁺. The crystal structures of TlMn²⁺P₃O₉and TlTa(PO₄)₂were determined by single-crystal x-ray diffraction.     

Condensed Cesium Indium Phosphates

In the range 250–400°C, the Cs₂O–In₂O₃–P₂O₅(H₂O) system contains the triphosphate CsInHP₃O₁₀and cyclododecaphosphate Cs₃In₃P₁₂O₃₆. The phase relations in this system are similar to those in the analogous Fe and Ga systems, but the transformation of CsInHP₃O₁₀into Cs₃In₃P₁₂O₃₆is much slower. The monoclinic cell parameters in CsInHP₃O₁₀are a= 12.054 Å, b= 8.936 Å, c= 9.432 Å, = 111.77° (sp. gr. C2/c). The structure of Cs₃In₃P₁₂O₃₆, determined by single-crystal techniques, is cubic (sp. gr. Pa3¯), with a= 14.885 Å.     

Polynucleotide hydrolysis by pancreatic ribonuclease immobilized on carboxymethylcellulose]

Analysis of snail-conditioned water (SCW) from Helisoma trivolvis revealed 17 free amino acids. Those in great concentration were glycine, serine, and alanine. The concentration of sialic acid was found to be twice that of the most abundant amino acid. The behavior of miracidia of Megalodiscus temperatus, measured by the contact with return method, to agar cylinders containing single amino acids and sialic acid indicated greater responses to polar molecules charged either positively or negatively at neutral pH. The molecules elicting the greatest response were aspartic, glutamic, and sialic acid. No correlation was found between concentration of amino acids in H. trivolvis SCW and response of M. temperatus miracidia.     

Ultrastructural localization of lysosomal and nuclear beta-glycerophosphatase activity in the urethral discharge cells of gonorrhea

Activity of acid phosphotase in the urethra discharge in patients with various forms of gonorrhea (acute, torpid, and chronic) was studied with the use of electron-microscopy and biochemical methods. A positive reaction of nuclei of the epithelial cells to acid phosphotase in lysosomes and perichromatin granules was demonstrated. In polymorphononuclear leucocytes the positive reaction to acid phosphotase could be also sometimes observed in granules of the cytoplasm. The electronograms presented testify to heterogeneity and high activity of acid phosphotase in lysosomes. Neither electron-microscopy nor biochemical methods could help reveal any differences in the activity of acid phosphotase in various forms of gonorrhea.     

Effect of kanamycin on kidney function in children with suppurative, inflammatory diseases]

The effect of kanamycin on the kidney function and the possibility of decreasing its side effect of pyrimidines were studied in240 children at the age of 2 month to 14 years (161 children with acute and chronic osteomyelitis and 79 children with staphylococcal destruction of the lungs). Kanamycin used in doses of 15000 and 25000 Units/kg of the body weight for 6 to 7 days in treatment of the children with staphylococcal destruction of the lungs, acute and chronic osteomyelitis had no nephrotoxic effect. Combination of kanamycin with pentoxyl, pryimidine derivative significantly improved the kidney function, which was evident from the content of the residual nitrogen in the blood serum and increased glomerural filtration. Combined use of kanamycin with pentoxyl promoted a decrease in albuminuria and leucocyturia. The data of the study provided recommendation of increased therapeutic doses of kanamycin, up to 15000--25000 Units/kg of the body weight in accordance with the recommendations under conditions of constant control of the kidney function.     

Investigation of branched channels of deltas

Conclusions If it is necessary to increase the discharge into a main distributary, a free groin (1) placed at the branch point as a continuation of the bank can be recommended. Its length can be determined by Eq. (2) on the basis of the required degree of changing the discharge. Since a submerged weir (3) located in a lateral distributary does not have a significant effect on the redistribution of discharges, its placement to increase the discharge in the main distributary is not rational. The placement of a submerged weir (2) in the main distributary can be recommended for reviving a lateral distributary (increase of the discharge in it). The location of this structure and its height can be determined as a function of the required degree of changing the discharge according to the graph in Fig. 4. Cholecystectomy from mini-laparotomy approach

Mini-laparotomy 3-4 cm long at projection of hepatoduodenal ligament with the help of surgical set of the firm "SAN" (Ekaterinburg) makes it possible to carry out successfully cholecystectomy and manipulations on the choledochus with minimal operation trauma. 104 patients were operated on for acute chronic cholecystitis with the help of this method. Mini-laparotomy in cholecystectomy enables intraoperation cholangiography and manipulations on the choledochus in any conditions.
