This paper considers the synthesis of refrigeration systems with refrigerant mixtures as working fluids. The employed refrigeration topology encompasses features from industrial liquefaction of natural gas (LNG) systems. This configuration consists of a combination of horizontal and vertical cascades generalizing the vertical cascade of pure refrigerant systems. The key features of mixtures exploited here are their ability to evaporate/condense over a temperature range and their potential to generate streams with different compositions through partial condensation. The synthesis problem is formulated and solved as a nonlinear program. The proposed methodology is illustrated using an example of cooling a methane-rich stream.  相似文献

A series of novel plasticized nanocomposite solid polymer electrolytes (PNCSPE) consisting of polyethylene oxide as polymer host, lithium bisoxalatoborate as salt with different weight ratios of succinonitrile and nano-hydroxyapatite was prepared by membrane hot-press technique. The electrical property of PNCSPE was investigated by AC impedance analysis. The migration of lithium ion in the polymer matrix was confirmed from cyclic voltammetry study. The incorporation of different compositions of filler and plasticizer in the polymer matrix significantly enhanced the amorphous nature resulted in increase in ionic conductivity of PNCSPE. The maximum ionic conductivity was found to be in the order of 10?3.1 S/cm.  相似文献

Hafnium nitride (HfN) is a refractory compound considered to be a suitable material for reaction barriers. The present paper deals with the preparation of HfN thin films by reactive magnetron sputtering on high density (HD) graphite and niobium substrates. Deposition process parameters have been optimised with Si(100) substrate in order to get HfN coating of 3 μm thickness. The optimised parameters were used to deposit HfN on HD graphite and on niobium substrates. The results showed that HfN coating with a thickness of 2.8 μm was successfully deposited on HD graphite and niobium substrates. The presence of HfN was confirmed by glancing incidence X-ray diffraction (GIXRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). XRD studies on HfN coating on Si(100), HD graphite and Nb substrates showed nanocrystalline grains of size 130, 55 and 46 Å, respectively. The surface morphology of HfN coating on HD graphite and niobium by atomic force microscope (AFM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) showed that nanoparticles are getting agglomerated into clusters. The HfN coating on niobium substrate exhibited good adhesion compared to that on HD graphite as studied by microscratch test. The thermal stress generated in the sputter deposited HfN coating on HD graphite and niobium substrates were calculated by analytical formula for thermal stress. The tensile and highly compressive stresses observed in the HfN coating on niobium and HD graphite, respectively, indicated a lower adhesive strength of the coating on the later than that of the former.  相似文献

Scanning Electron Microscopic (SEM) studies were carried out on the failure surface of syntactic foam material tested in a short beam three point bend test (SBT) by employing 21 × 15 × 3 mm3 dimension bearing specimens. The syntactic foams were fabricated using glass microballoons in epoxy binder. The failure of the tensile, compression, and shear dominated regions were studied by SEM at different magnifications. The tensile region had characteristic features, such as partial debonding of the microballoons from the matrix and cracking of glass microballoons, apart from matrix cracking and some river pattern features. The compression side was characterized by crushing and collapsing of microballoons, resulting in accumulation of debris with no apparent river pattern for matrix‐rich regions. The midway positions of the SBT failed surface comprised of deformation bands in the matrix and occasional debonding of microballoons. The morphology recorded in the tensile and compression regions corroborated well with the results obtained on these foam samples in those specimens that were subjected to pure uniaxial tension and compression, respectively. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Syntactic foam slabs having uncoated microballoons and paraffin oil surface‐treated microballoons were fabricated and tested for short‐beam three‐point bend test. The work points to the role of paraffin oil coating first weakening the interface between the microballoons and the matrix and hence lowering the efficiency of load transfer from matrix to the fillers (i.e., microballoons). This led to an overall decrement of 71% in the experimentally measured strength value compared to the deduced value for uncoated microballoons' specimens. The large strengths for uncoated microballoons specimens can be traced to the presence of the curvilinear marks in the matrix that, incidentally, are absent in the case of paraffin oil coated specimens. A mixing index based on solid volume fraction fields is developed for gas-solid flows. Conventional mixing indices are based on particle realizations of granular mixing and are applicable to experimental data or discrete element method simulations. However, these indices cannot be used as-is for multifluid models, and an index for characterizing mixing in gas-solid flows from continuous fields is needed. The performance of the new mixing index is tested in two applications. The first is a 3D simulation of the mixing of biomass and sand in a fluidized bed reactor, and the second is a 2D simulation of binary particle segregation in a fluidized bed. The simulations are performed using OpenFOAM®. The mixing index is used to quantify gas-solid mixing using solid volume fractions and solid-solid mixing using solid fractions. The formulation of conventional mixing indices is extended to be used with solid volume fractions fields, and methods for performance improvement are presented.  相似文献

Ni-Cr-Si-B alloy coatings deposited on AISI 304L stainless steel substrate using plasma transferred arc welding process were studied with respect to the microchemical and microstructural modifications that take place during the process. The coating was characterized for (1) interface integrity and dilution (2) type, morphology and distribution of secondary phases in the coating (3) elemental redistribution between substrate and coating and (4) different phases that form during the deposition process. Formation of a transition zone of only 760 μm width was understood in terms of interdiffusion of Fe and Ni across the interface. Preferential redistribution of carbon to the surface of the coating was observed. It was explained on the basis of difference in thermodynamic activity. Apart from γ-Ni solid solution, the other primary phases identified in Ni-Cr-Si-B alloy were Cr2B, Cr7C3 and Cr3C2. The observed changes in microstructure, microchemistry and hardness have been understood based on the phase transitions of the Ni rich alloy during solidification and cooling on the substrate.  相似文献

Zinc ferrite (ZnFe2O4) nanoparticles have been synthesized at 700°C using sodium chloride as a growth inhibitor. Single-phase formation of spinel zinc ferrite having crystallite size in the range of 15–20 nm was observed by XRD and confirmed by TEM. In the present work, the gas-sensing properties of these zinc ferrite nanoparticles toward ethanol, LPG, H2, NO x . SO x , and H2S have been studied. It was found that they exhibit excellent selective sensitivity toward 200 ppm of H2S at the operating temperature of 250°C, and thus this nanosized ferrite is expected to be useful in an industrial application as a potential H2S gas sensor.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to establish optimum machining conditions for EDSG of AISI D2 die steel through an experimental investigation using Taguchi Methodology. To achieve combined grinding and electrical discharge machining, metal matrix composite electrodes (Cu-SiCp) were processed through powder metallurgy route. A rotary spindle attachment was developed to perform the EDSG experimental runs on EDM machine. Relationships were developed between various input parameters such as peak current, speed, pulse-on time, pulse-off time, abrasive particle size, and abrasive particle concentration, and output characteristics such as material removal rate and surface roughness. The optimized parameters were further validated by conducting confirmation experiments.  相似文献

This work provides a comprehensive understanding of the reactions at the ferrous die/molten metal interface in a metal mold casting operation. The literature has shown that several important factors influence reactions at the ferrous die/molten aluminum interface, including temperature of the melt, temperature of the die, alloy chemistry of the melt and die, die surface engineering, topographical features, and coatings. This article discusses the effect of the more critical factors on soldering, based on the authors’ investigations. Inaddition, based on a mechanistic understanding of the interface reactions between ferrous die and molten aluminum, recommendations are given for specific processing issues to alleviate soldering during die casting of aluminum alloys.  相似文献
