In this paper, we study the problem of reconstruction of a high-resolution (HR) image from several blurred low-resolution
(LR) image frames in medium field. The image frames consist of blurred, decimated, and noisy versions of a HR image. The HR
image is modeled as a Markov random field (MRF), and a maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimation technique is used for the restoration.
We show that with the periodic boundary condition, a HR image can be restored efficiently by using fast Fourier transforms.
We also apply the preconditioned conjugate gradient method to restore HR images in the aperiodic boundary condition. Computer
simulations are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

A highly flexible synthesis method for an arbitrary array is proposed to best approximate a desired array pattern in a minimum-mean-square-error sense. The basic idea of the technique is to form a quadratic program with its cost function given by the mean-square error between the array response and a properly selected pattern described by a known mathematical function. This quadratic program can be a constrained or unconstrained optimization problem depending on the requirements of the desired array pattern. In formulating the quadratic program, no assumption has been made on the gain/phase response or characteristics of the individual array elements. Therefore, one can synthesize an array of arbitrary shape to any appropriate pattern with the characteristic of the array elements taken into consideration as long as one is able to model the array accurately. Nucleation from a supercooled melt of palm oil was studied by optical microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).
Despite being a multicomponent system, palm oil exhibits a rather simple cooling thermogram with its high- and low-T exotherms
exclusively related to the “hard” and “soft” components of the oil. As the “hard” components are being removed, the position
of the high-T peak shifts down toward the low-T peak with diminishing peak intensity, while the position of the latter remains
virtually unchanged.
At 288°K, nucleation in a palm oil melt is instantaneous. Its induction time-temperature curve shows an abrupt discontinuity
at 297°K, which demarcates the occurrence of one polymorph from another. Nucleation data fit very well into the Fisher-Turnbull
equation. Its larger activation free energy of nucleation is accompanied by lowering of the melting point and an increase
in the crystal/melt interfacial free energy as compared to palm stearin. The slow rate of nucleation in palm oil is attributed
to intermolecular interaction between its “hard” and “soft” components.

The paper describes a method of fractionating vegetable, animal and fish oils, and in particular palm oil. The method involves
addition of a medium comprising two common solvents to the semisolid oils. On centrifugation, the olein and stearin are separated
by the medium in the middle. Thirteen media made up from binary combinations of nine solvents, viz. water, propylene glycol,
glycerine, methanol, ethanol,n-propanol, isopropanol (IPA), acetone and butanone, are found to be effective in olein-stearin separation. However, only the
water/IPA and water/methanol systems have been studied in detail. The aqueous IPA provides a higher yield of olein than water/
methanol but intersolubility between oil and medium is also greater. The fractionation process can be carried out at any suitable
temperature. Fractionation of the special prime bleached (SPB) palm oil at 16 C yields an olein with a cloud point of 4.8
C. Some hybrid palm oils produce a large quantity of low cloud point olein which can be bleached readily. The process can
be extended to include degumming and neutralization by using an alkaline medium for centrifugation. The olein fractions obtained
have been found to be free of phosphatides and the free fatty acids reduced to as low as 0.02%. Metal-scavenging agents have
also been added to the medium in an attempt to remove copper and iron. The development of this process into a continuous one
has been demonstrated on the AlfaLaval LAPX 202 Separator. Fractionation of crude palm oil using a density gradient provides
seven fractions of different characteristics. The iodine values vary from 37.5 to 57.4 and the unsaturated fatty acids range
from 32.7% to 51.2%. Triglyceride analysis by carbon numbers shows great differences in the C48 and C52 constituents of the fractions.

Ceramic chip capacitors used in hybrid microelectronics for cardiac pacemakers are usually highly reliable. However, under certain conditions of capacitor construction, capacitor materials, mounting techniques, and environmental conditions, high failure rates may occur. A specific example is presented in which a ceramic capacitor used in an implanted pacemaker delaminated and failed approximately 30 days after being implanted. The failed capacitor caused a pulse rate rise, but due to circuit design techniques, the rate increase was limited to an acceptable value. The capacitor that failed was from an isolated lot of capacitors that was manufactured using pure palladium plates. The circuit containing this capacitor was hermetically sealed within a titanium case by welding. During the welding, a small amount of hydrogen was released from the titanium which, over a period of 2 to 4 weeks, was absorbed by the palladium plates in the capacitor. By absorbing the hydrogen, the palladium plates exhibit a volumetric expansion of sufficient magnitude to crack and delaminate the capacitor to the point of failure. Subsequently, the recurrence of this failure mode has been avoided by using capacitors containing special palladium alloys that cannot absorb hydrogen. This phenomenon is of interest to pacemaker designers since mercury batteries used in conventional pacemakers generate large amounts of hydrogen and potentially may be responsible for complications when used in conjunction with capacitors containing palladium. 相似文献
