Physico-chemical Properties of Marine Phospholipid Emulsions   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Many studies have shown that marine phospholipids (PL) have better bioavailability, better resistance towards oxidation and contain higher polyunsaturated fatty acids such as eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acids (DHA) than triglycerides (TAG) present in fish oil. The objective of this study was to investigate the emulsifying properties of various commercial marine PL and the feasibility of using them to prepare stable emulsions prepared with or without addition of fish oil. In addition, this study also investigated the relationship between chemical composition of marine PL and the stability of their emulsions. Physical stability was investigated through particle size distribution (PSD), zeta potential, microscopy inspection and emulsion separation (ES); while the oxidative and hydrolytic stability of emulsions were investigated through peroxide value (PV) and free fatty acids value (FFA) after 32?days storage at room temperature and at 2?°C. In conclusion, marine PL showed good emulsifying properties and it was possible to prepare marine PL emulsions with and without addition of fish oil. Emulsion with both good oxidative stability and physical stability could be prepared by using marine PL of high purity, less TAG, more PL, cholesterol and higher antioxidant content.  相似文献

Recent data suggesting complex I dysfunction in Parkinson's disease (PD) arises from mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutation does not conclusively answer whether the responsible genetic lesion is inherited (primary) or somatic (secondary). To address this question, we identified a family in which multiple members over three generations are affected with PD through exclusively maternal lines. Cytoplasmic hybrids (cybrids) were created for 15 family members over two generations by transferring each individual's mtDNA to mtDNA-depleted human neuroblastoma cells. Eight of the 15 cybrid lines contained mtDNA obtained from maternally descended family members and seven contained mtDNA from paternally descended family members. After 6 weeks of culture, cybrid cell lines were assayed for complex I activity and oxidative stress, and mitochondrial morphology was analyzed by electron microscopy. Compared with the cybrid lines containing mtDNA from paternal descendants, cybrid lines containing mtDNA from maternal descendants had lower complex I activity, increased reactive oxygen species production, increased radical scavenging enzyme activities, and more abnormal mitochondrial morphologic features. These findings were present in cybrid lines containing mtDNA from maternal descendants with PD as well as in currently asymptomatic young maternal descendants, and support a precedent for inherited mtDNA mutation in some persons with PD.  相似文献

Using differential display, we identified an mRNA that is markedly down-regulated in cell line 6A/SB1, derived from a fibrosarcoma formed in an athymic mouse following injection of carcinogen-transformed MSU-1.1 cells. The nontumorigenic parental cell strain, MSU-1.1, expresses high levels of this mRNA. Sequencing of the corresponding cDNA fragment revealed that it corresponded to an expressed sequence tag, which ultimately led to its identification as the fibulin-1D gene. Fibulin-1 is a cysteine-rich, calcium-binding extracellular matrix and plasma protein, which has four isoforms, A-D, derived from alternative splicing. Northern and Western blotting analysis of 16 cell lines established from tumors formed in athymic mice by MSU-1.1-derived cell strains independently transformed in culture showed that 44% exhibited low level or lack of expression of fibulin-1D mRNA and protein. In a similar analysis of 15 malignant cell lines derived from patients, 80% showed low level or no expression. To study the role of fibulin-1D in transformation, we transfected 6A/SB1 cells and a human fibrosarcoma-derived cell line (SHAC) with a fibulin-1D cDNA expression construct. Transfectants displaying high levels of fibulin-1D were isolated and characterized. Elevated expression of fibulin-1D led to reduced ability to form colonies in soft agar and reduced invasive potential as tested in a matrigel in vitro invasion assay. Furthermore, expression of fibulin-1D resulted in a markedly extended latency in tumor formation in athymic mice. These results indicate that low expression of fibulin-1D plays a role in tumor formation and invasion.  相似文献

Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is well known for mediating the electron-transfer oxidation of electron-rich aromatic 'donors' such as phenols and anilines, but has not been described to oxidize aliphatic amines. We here confirm the inability of HRP to oxidize typical aliphatic amines, even those which would exist significantly as free bases at the operative pH. In contrast, trans-2-phenylcyclopropylamine (2-PCPA) is both a substrate (turnover product is cinnamaldehyde) and a time-dependent inactivator of HRP. These activities of 2-PCPA are consistent with either a concerted or rapid sequential one-electron-oxidation/ring-opening to give an intermediate capable of covalent binding to the enzyme. 2-PCPA is the first known example of a simple aliphatic amine which serves as a substrate for HRP under turnover conditions.  相似文献

Grinding a mixture of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and NaOH was conducted by a planetary ball mill at atmospheric condition to investigate mechanochemical reaction between the two substances. The grinding stimulates the reaction to form NaF and organic composites. Yield of fluorine converted from PVDF to NaF increases with an increase in grinding time and reaches 90% at 60 min or more. As for the organic phase, oxygen-bearing compounds are formed due to substitution of fluorine by OH base. Reviews the book, L'insomnie: Traitement comportemental by Robert Ladouceur and Yves Gros-Louis (1984). The work offers a prospect broader than the medical vision which traditionally dominates the treatment of insomnia. More specifically, the work is articulated around two chapters. The first locates the relative source data of insomnia, and provides the criteria for a precise diagnosis, establishing a clear distinction between primary insomnia and secondary insomnia, and methods generally utilized to measure sleep. As for the second chapter, it is centered on the behavioral methods of treatment of insomnia. According to the authors, any treatment must be preceded by factual information on insomnia, to facilitate the application of the chosen method. Small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) are small B-cell lymphomas that share many morphological and immunophenotypic features, both expressing the T-cell antigen CD5. Because of this, there is speculation that these two lymphomas may have a common origin, both arising from the mantle zone of the lymph node. CD44 (HCAM), a glycoprotein "homing receptor," has been reported as a marker of small B-cell lymphomas for determining behavior as well as the nodal cell of origin. Intensity of CD44 expression also has been correlated with dissemination of lymphoma. We studied 50 cases with classic features of SLL (30 cases) or MCL (20 cases). Immunophenotypic analysis was performed on paraffin sections. All cases of MCL and SLL were CD20 positive; CD5 was expressed in 19 of 25 (76%) SLL and 11 of 15 (73%) MCL. Cyclin D1 was expressed in 11 of 17 (76%) MCL and no cases of SLL. CD43 coexpression was seen in 27 of 29 (93%) SLL and 17 of 19 (89%) MCL. CD23 was positive in 25 of 28 (89%) SLL and 2 of 20 (10%) MCL. Bcl-2 was positive in 18 of 22 (82%) SLL and 15 of 16 (94%) MCL. CD44 was positive with moderate to strong intensity in 11 of 30 SLL and 15 of 20 MCL. Peripheral blood involvement did not correlate with CD44 immunoreactivity. MCL tended to have intense CD44 immunoreactivity, whereas SLL tended to show weaker CD44 intensity. This trend in the intensity of CD44 in MCL suggests that CD44 may be helpful in distinguishing SLL from MCL and possibly elucidating the origin of these CD5-positive B-cell neoplasms.  相似文献

This article presents a procedure for the design of bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filters. The procedure consists of optimizing the modified Butterworth‐Van Dyke model of each resonator, considering appropriate technological parameters. The approach is demonstrated first to design a classical aluminum nitride‐based BAW filter but remains valid for other piezoelectric layers, considering either longitudinal or transverse acoustic wave coupling.
