Forgiveness is one construct that is beginning to demonstrate promise as a health and relationship promoter within the workplace. The primary aim of this research was to examine the effects of one psychological intervention (social motivational training) that was developed to promote forgiveness among co-workers. In the first of two studies, workers were randomly assigned to one of two intervention conditions (i.e., job satisfaction training, social motivational training). Participants read a vignette in which they were to imagine themselves as victims of a co-worker transgression. Judgments of responsibility and co-worker forgiveness were then measured at two intervals: before and after training. In Study 2, workers recounted an actual critical incident involving a co-worker transgression, completed a pretraining questionnaire measuring judgments of responsibility, self-image, and forgiveness, received either a one-on-one job satisfaction training or social motivational training session, and completed a post-training questionnaire. Results from both studies indicated that social motivational training enhanced participants' forgiveness of a hypothetical and actual co-worker. In addition, Study 2 showed an increase in workers' self-image following social motivational training, suggesting affirmation of the self as a possible mechanism for the effects of social motivational training on forgiveness. The influence of electrolytes on the development of renal principal and intercalated collecting duct cells is unknown. Consequently embryonic collecting duct epithelia were exposed to different electrolyte concentrations, and their degree of differentiation was registered by immunohistochemical methods. Embryonic collecting duct epithelia were isolated from neonatal rabbit kidneys and placed on tissue carriers. The apical urine and the basal serum compartments were simulated in a gradient culture container. The two sides of the epithelium were each constantly superfused with medium for 13 days. In controls the medium on both apical and basal side was standard Iscove's modified Dulbecco's Medium (IMDM) with 112 mmol/l Na+ and 85 mmol/l Cl-. In experimental series the NaCl concentration at the basal side of the epithelium was increased up to 137 mmol/l Na+ and 99 mmol/l Cl- as found in the serum of neonatal rabbits. Light microscopy revealed morphologically faultless epithelia following gradient perfusion culture in standard and NaCl-adapted IMDM. The development of principal and intercalated cell features was monitored with the monoclonal antibodies 703, 503, PCD9, and peanut lectin. Cells immunopositive for monoclonal antibody 703, for example, increased from less than 10% in controls to more than 80% in NaCl-adapted IMDM. It is a new finding that the development of collecting duct cell features is influenced by the extracellular electrolyte environment.  相似文献

A series of tests were conducted to act as validation cases for the numerical model developed in part I of this paper to predict the initiation and propagation of damage in composite materials. The onset of matrix cracking in [02/θ4]s specimens under tension–tension fatigue loading was studied using acoustic emission (AE) and dye-penetrant enhanced X-rays. The number of cracks identified by significant AE hits correlated well with the number of cracks identified by X-rays. Finite Element simulations of the [02/θ4]s specimens using the model from part I for cohesive interface elements fatigue loading showed a good correlation with the experimental results.  相似文献

The genetically ordered physiology of contemporary humans was selected over eons of evolutionary experience for a nutritional pattern affording much less fat, particularly less saturated fat. Current dietary recommendations do not accord exactly with those generated by an understanding of prior hominoid/hominid evolution. Similarly, widely advocated standards for serum cholesterol values fail to match those observed in recently studied hunter-gatherers, whose experience represents the closest living approximation of “natural” human lipid metabolism. The evolutionary paradigm suggests that fats should comprise 20–25% of total energy intake, that the ratio of polyunsaturated to saturated fat should exceed 1.0, and that total serum cholesterol levels should be below 150 mg/dL (∼4 mM/L). A series of four fly ashes, representing a variety of geological origins, and a bottom ash sample derived from the combustion of lignite-natural gas mixtures have been studied by 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. The ashes are separated into magnetic and non-magnetic fractions to facilitate a study of the chemical state of the iron contained in the ash. The bottom ash contains no magnetic fraction whereas the magnetic fractions of the fly ashes range from 1.1 to 7.3%. The magnetic fractions contained iron in the form of magnetite, Fe3O4. Iron in the non-magnetic fly ash fractions occur as Fe+1 and Fe+2 mullites, and Fe+3 and Fe+2 silicates. Only Fe+3 silicates are found in the bottom ash.  相似文献
