A method for automating the process of system decomposition is described. The method is based on a formal specification scheme, formal definition of good decomposition, heuristic rules governing the search for good candidate decompositions, and a measure of complexity that allows ranking of the candidate decompositions. The decomposition method has been implemented as a set of experimental computerized systems analysis tools and applied to a standard problem for which other designs already exist. The results are encouraging, in that decompositions generated using other methodologies map easily into those suggested by the computerized tools. Additionally, the use of the method indicates that when more than one `good' decomposition is suggested by the system, the specifications might have been incomplete. A popular mode of shape synthesis involves mixing and matching parts from different objects to form a coherent whole. The key challenge is to efficiently synthesize shape variations that are plausible, both locally and globally. A major obstacle is to assemble the objects with local consistency, i.e., all the connections between parts are valid with no dangling open connections. The combinatorial complexity of this problem limits existing methods in geometric and/or topological variations of the synthesized models. In this work, we introduce replaceable substructures as arrangements of parts that can be interchanged while ensuring boundary consistency. The consistency information is extracted from part labels and connections in the original source models. We present a polynomial time algorithm that discovers such substructures by working on a dual of the original shape graph that encodes inter‐part connectivity. We demonstrate the algorithm on a range of test examples producing plausible shape variations, both from a geometric and from a topological viewpoint. 相似文献

In this paper, we describe a new algorithm for detecting structural redundancy in geometric data sets. Our algorithm computes rigid symmetries, i.e., subsets of a surface model that reoccur several times within the model differing only by translation, rotation or mirroring. Our algorithm is based on matching locally coherent constellations of feature lines on the object surfaces. In comparison to previous work, the new algorithm is able to detect a large number of symmetric parts without restrictions to regular patterns or nested hierarchies. In addition, working on relevant features only leads to a strong reduction in memory and processing costs such that very large data sets can be handled. We apply the algorithm to a number of real world 3D scanner data sets, demonstrating high recognition rates for general patterns of symmetry. 相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new method for reconstructing 3D models from a noisy and incomplete 3D scan and a coarse template model. The main idea is to maintain characteristic high‐level features of the template that remain unchanged for different variants of the same type of object. As invariants, we chose the partial symmetry structure of the template model under Euclidian transformations, i.e. we maintain the algebraic structure of all reflections, rotations and translations that map the object partially to itself. We propose an optimization scheme that maintains continuous and discrete symmetry properties of this kind while registering a template against scan data using a deformable iterative closest points (ICP) framework with thin‐plate‐spline regularization. We apply our new deformation approach to a large number of example data sets and demonstrate that symmetry‐guided template matching often yields much more plausible reconstructions than previous variants of ICP. 相似文献

Proper positioning and assessment of abnormalities and complications of the above-mentioned devices have a significant impact on the management of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). The timely assessment of new or rapidly evolving findings is critical. Optimal radiographic technique, availability of images to the clinicians, and rapid reporting by the radiologist all serve to maximize the efficacy of bedside chest radiography in the ICU. Sometimes, changes in cardiopulmonary status may only be appreciated on chest radiographs (CXRs). Complications from ventilatory assistance, such as barotrauma, occur frequently and must be detected promptly. The position of monitoring devices, an important component of critical care management, is best checked radiographically. Indications for CXRs and the recommended frequency for repeat follow-up CXRs are based on the existing literature and the consensus of an expert panel formed by the American College of Radiology. 相似文献
