Preparation and characterization of metal-complex imprinted PVDF hollow fiber membranes

Using nickel-2,2′-dipyridyl complex as a template, N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone as the metal coordination functional monomer, and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the crosslinker, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fiber ultrafiltration membrane as the supported membrane, metal complex imprinted polymeric membranes were prepared. The association constant of template-monomer interaction in the prepolymerization solution was estimated to be 4.38 × 10⁴ (L/mol)² by spectrophotometric titration analysis. The attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron micrograph characterization indicated that the surface of the support PVDF membrane was completely coated by the imprinted polymer layer after modification. The imprinted membranes exhibited the selective permeability for the template in certain nickel acetate solution. The molecularly imprinted membranes gave higher permeation separation factors at about pH 6, whereas increasing pressure would lower the separation ability. The effects of ion concentration, cations and counterions, ligand selectivity, pH, and trans-membrane pressure were investigated and the permeation performances of the imprinted membranes could be regarded as facilitated transport mechanism. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In-Situ Wet Chemical Composition of Multicomponent Precursors to Blue Emitting Sr2CeO4 Phosphors

Hybrid precursors were assembled with cerium coordination polymers, polyethyl glycohol (PEG), SrCO3 and other functional components using a modified in-situ chemical polymeric gel technology. The hybrid precursors were calcinated to achieve the Sr2CeO4 phosphors, whose particle sizes were in the range of micrometer by XRD and SEM. The photoluminescence spectra indicate that the phosphors present a strong blue emission.

Hydrothermal Synthesis of Magnesium Aluminate Platelets

Magnesium aluminate (MgAl₂O₄) platelets were first synthesized by hydrothermal treatment of γ-AlO(OH) in a magnesium nitrate aqueous solution at 400°C. The platelets are 100–200 nm in width and 25 nm in thickness. The influence of temperature, the anions of the magnesium salt, the amount of magnesium salt, and precursor pH on the formation of such structure was investigated. The experimental results indicated that the anions of the magnesium salt and precursor pH could have a significant influence on the growth of MgAl₂O₄. MgAl₂O₄ formation followed the in situ transformation mechanism, which was the reason why the MgAl₂O₄ crystallites had a platelet morphology.     

Compatibility between Polyamide 6 and Polycarbonate

Polyamide （PA6） and polycarbonate （PC） were prepared by a Brabender mixer （ PLV- 151） at 240℃ with 30 rpm for duration of 8 and 6 minutes respectively. The epoxy resin （E） addition can lead to substantial microstructural changes in the PA6/PC blends. Scanning electron microscope （SEM） was used to observe the mixtures characterized by the domains of clearly segregated homophases and voids between the two polymers. PA6/PC of polyamide 6 and polycarbonate with epoxy resin addition under the composition ratio of 20/80, 20/80/1, 40/60/1 and 40/60, were tested to verify the key role of epoxy in promoting the compatibility of PA6 with PC during blending.

用于红外地平仪的双列硅集成热堆传感器

本文报道了试用于红外地平仪的新型热堆传感器。由于尺寸小、集成热偶对数高,故设计成双列硅集成结构,集成B-Sb热偶对为112对。采用集成电路工艺和微细加工技术研制,使器件获得较好的稳定性和可靠性。测得器件性能为:电阻10±1kΩ,响应率0.9～1.2V/W,时间常数<100ms.探测率D~*≈1×10~8cmHz~(1/2)/W。     

Electron transfer by domain movement in cytochrome bc1

The cytochrome bc1 is one of the three major respiratory enzyme complexes residing in the inner mitochondrial membrane. Cytochrome bc1 transfers electrons from ubiquinol to cytochrome c and uses the energy thus released to form an electrochemical gradient across the inner membrane. Our X-ray crystal structures of the complex from chicken, cow and rabbit in both the presence and absence of inhibitors of quinone oxidation, reveal two different locations for the extrinsic domain of one component of the enzyme, an iron-sulphur protein. One location is close enough to the supposed quinol oxidation site to allow reduction of the Fe-S protein by ubiquinol. The other site is close enough to cytochrome c1 to allow oxidation of the Fe-S protein by the cytochrome. As neither location will allow both reactions to proceed at a suitable rate, the reaction mechanism must involve movement of the extrinsic domain of the Fe-S component in order to shuttle electrons from ubiquinol to cytochrome c1. Such a mechanism has not previously been observed in redox protein complexes.
