We have tested whether action potential-evoked Ca2+ influx is required to initiate clathrin-mediated synaptic vesicle endocytosis in the lamprey reticulospinal synapse. Exo- and endocytosis were temporally separated by a procedure involving tonic action potential stimulation and subsequent removal of extracellular Ca2+ (Ca2+e). A low concentration of Ca2+ ([Ca2+]e of 11 microM) was found to be required for the induction of early stages of endocytosis. However, the entire endocytic process, from the formation of clathrin-coated membrane invaginations to the generation of synaptic vesicles, proceeded in the absence of action potential-mediated Ca2+ entry. Our results indicate that the membrane of synaptic vesicles newly incorporated in the plasma membrane is a sufficient trigger of clathrin-mediated synaptic vesicle endocytosis.  相似文献

A reconfigurable network termed as the reconfigurable multi-ring network (RMRN) is described. The RMRN is shown to be a truly scalable network in that each node in the network has a fixed degree of connectivity and the reconfiguration mechanism ensures a network diameter of O(log2 N) for anN-processor network. Algorithms for the two-dimensional mesh and the SIMD or SPMD n-cube are shown to map very elegantly onto the RMRN. Basic message passing and reconfiguration primitives for the SIMD/SPMD RMRN are designed for use as building blocks for more complex parallel algorithms. The RMRN is shown to be a viable architecture for image processing and computer vision problems using the parallel computation of the stereocorrelation imaging operation as an example. Stereocorrelation is one of the most computationally intensive imaging tasks. It is used as a visualization tool in many applications, including remote sensing, geographic information systems and robot vision.An earlier version of this paper was presented at the 1995 International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Processing Techniques and Applications.  相似文献

New phosphoramide mustards (6-8) have been prepared from the antibiotics 2 and 3, and from 5. The mixture of cyclophosphamides could be separated by preparative layer and column chromatography. The assignments of configuration to the isomeric phosphoramidates was based on the magnetic anisotropy of the P = O bond. The synthesized compounds 6a,b-8a,b (mixture of isomers) were tested for inhibitory activity on the [3H]-thymidine incorporation into the DNA of tumor cells, using ovarian carcinoma cell line.  相似文献

Kinetics and products of peroxynitrite anion O=NOO- reactions, catalyzed by water-soluble manganese and iron porphyrins, were studied under basic and neutral conditions. In the absence of organic substrates peroxynitrite decomposes catalytically to give nitrite and dioxygen as major products. Catalytic decomposition competes with direct oxidation of sulfoxide to sulfone, while phenol is catalytically nitrated in o- and p-positions. A reaction mechanism is proposed.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: I describe a new outpatient technique of septoplasty, advocated to minimize and simplify surgery under local anesthesia with new laser instruments especially designed. SUMMARY BACKGROUND DATA: This quick technique takes 5 minutes and has a specific clinical application in chronic nasal obstruction due to moderate anterior septal deviation in adults. It is less invasive that traditional septoplasty and potentially more advantageous in terms of decreased patient recovery time, less morbidity, lower medical costs, and faster return to full activity. METHODS: I retrospectively review my experience with 120 patients, from August 1995 to November 1996, with a patient evaluation pre- and postoperatively, at first by a direct interview with clinical examination and acoustic rhinometry, then by a telephone interview with strictly standardized questioning. RESULTS: Of the 120 patients, a surgical success rate of 96% on the nasal obstruction was achieved. Many patients experienced improvement on other symptoms like nasal discharge, frequent sneezing, frequent headaches, recurrent rhinosinusitis, and sense of smell and sleep troubles. Observations comparing pre- and post-operative rhinometries revealed a significant increase of the size of the mean minimal cross-sectional areas (MCA) of the narrow side, at the anterior part of the nose, an increase of the mean nasal cavity volume (NCV), and a decrease of mean nasal airway resistance (NAR). CONCLUSIONS: This new technique appears to be a safe, quick, simple, predictable, bloodless, and virtually painless in-office procedure without side effects. These encouraging good preliminary results must be confirmed by further study and long-term follow-up.  相似文献

A Laves phase, Fe2Ta, was utilized to obtain good elevated temperature properties in a carbon-free iron alloy containing 1 at. pct Ta and 7 at. pct Cr. Room temperature embrittlement resulting from the precipitation of the Laves phase at grain boundaries was overcome by spheroidizing the precipitate. This was accomplished by thermally cycling the alloys through the α→γ transformation. The short-time yield strength of the alloys decreased very slowly with increase in test temperature up to 600°C, but above this temperature, the strength decreased rapidly. Results of constant load creep and stress rupture tests conducted at several temperatures and stresses indicated that the rupture and creep strengths of spheroidized 1 Ta-7 Cr alloy were higher than those of several commercial steels containing chromium and/or molybdenum carbides but lower than those of steels containing substantial amounts of tungsten and vanadium.
