Monte Carlo simulation of gas phase polymerization of 1,3‐butadiene. Part II: Kinetics optimization and confirmation

Studies on the deactivations and initiations of gas phase polymerizations of 1,3‐butadiene have been achieved by Monte Carlo simulation. Initiation and deactivation control the reaction before and after the peak of the polymerization rate, respectively. The influence of polymerization temperature has been studied. Monte Carlo modeling of polymerization kinetics and mechanism was confirmed by the agreement of experimental data and simulation results of polymerizations run with a temporary evacuation of monomer. The balance of catalysts and active chains is established by both initiation and chain transfer reactions with cocatalyst, which causes a ‘pseudo‐stability’ stage. © 2003 Society of Chemical Industry     

Unicast-based multicast communication in wormhole-routed networks

Multicast communication, in which the same message is delivered from a source node to an arbitrary number of destination nodes, is being increasingly demanded in parallel computing. System supported multicast services can potentially offer improved performance, increased functionality, and simplified programming, and may in turn be used to support various higher-level operations for data movement and global process control. This paper presents efficient algorithms to implement multicast communication in wormhole-routed direct networks, in the absence of hardware multicast support, by exploiting the properties of the switching technology. Minimum-time multicast algorithms are presented for n-dimensional meshes and hypercubes that use deterministic, dimension-ordered routing of unicast messages. Both algorithms can deliver a multicast message to m-1 destinations in [log ₂ m] message passing steps, while avoiding contention among the constituent unicast messages. Performance results of implementations on a 64-node nCUBE-2 hypercube and a 168-node Symult 2010 2-D mesh are given

Resource contention in shared-memory multiprocessors: A parameterized performance degradation model

A standard metric conventionally employed to compare the performance of different multiprocessor systems is speedup. Although providing a measure of the improvement in execution speed achievable on a system, this metric does not yield any insight into the factors responsible for limiting the potential improvement in speed. This paper studies the performance degradation in shared-memory multiprocessors as a result of contention for shared-memory resources. A replicate workload framework with a flexible mechanism for workload specification is proposed for measuring performance. Two normalized performance metrics—efficiency and overhead factor—are introduced to quantify the factors limiting performance and facilitate comparison across architectures. Finally, the proposed model is employed to measure and compare the performance of three contemporary shared-memory systems, with special emphasis on the newly released BBN Butterfly-II (TC2000), currently undergoing Beta test.

本文利用可控平均冷却速度的单向凝固实验炉测定了４５号钢在不同平均冷却速度下的冷却曲线，由此得到其在凝固期间的平均冷却速度Ｒ，相应地测量了不同平均冷却速度下试样的二次枝晶臂间距Ｓ２，通过回归，得到了如下关系式：Ｓ２＝７２７Ｒ－０．４１，并将引式成功地应用于实际生产中。

Parallel Algorithms for Image Template Matching on Hypercube SIMD Computers

This correspondence presents several parallel algorithms for image template matching on an SIMD array processor with a hypercube interconnection network. For an N by N image and an M by M window, the time complexity is reduced from O(N2M2) for the serial algorithm to O(M2/K2 + M * log2 N/K + log2 N * log2 K) for the N2K2-PE system (1 ? K ? M), or to O(N2M2/L2) for the L2-PE system (L ? N). With efficient use of the inter-PE communication network, each PE requires only a small local memory, many unnecessary data transmissions are eliminated, and the time complexity is greatly reduced.     

自适应天线匹配低频RFID读写器设计

在工业现场、野外甚至水中,RFID读写器天线电特性参数将发生改变,导致阻抗不匹配和发射功率大幅下降,最终降低RFID读写器读写范围和效率。为了解决这个问题,构建了一个自适应天线匹配RFID读写器系统,该系统在基本读写器系统上增加了自适应电容匹配矩阵、正弦波均方根检测和模/数转换器。该系统通过依次配置电容矩阵,扫描天线发射信号幅度,检测出最佳匹配电容,实现天线阻抗的最佳匹配。通过实验表明,在一定范围内该系统能够实现自动的阻抗匹配,获取最大发射功率。
