Analysis of a wide radiating slot in the ground plane of amicrostrip line

An analysis of a wide rectangular radiating slot excited by a microstrip line is described. Coupled integral equations are formulated to find the electric current distribution on the feed line and the electric field in the aperture. The solution is based on the method of moments and using the space domain Sommerfeld-type Green's function. The information about the input impedance or reflection coefficient is extracted from the electric current distribution on the microstrip line utilizing the matrix pencil technique. The theoretical analysis is described and data are presented and compared with other theoretical and experimental results     

Oxygen absorption kinetics in YBa2Cu3Ox

The oxygen absorption process in highly aligned YBa₂Cu₃O_x samples in air and in pure oxygen was studied at several constant temperatures. The process can be expressed in two steps, a chemical reaction controlled step and a diffusion controlled step. The kinetic equations are as follows respectively:

The activation energy was calculated using an Arrhenius equation. The technical conditions of heat treatment for oxygen absorption of highly aligned YBa₂Cu₃O_x crystals are discussed.     

Evolution of multiprotocol label switching

Multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) is rapidly emerging as an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard intended to enhance the speed, scalability, and service provisioning capabilities in the Internet. MPLS uses the technique of packet forwarding based on labels, to enable the implementation of a simpler high-performance packet forwarding engine. This also decouples packet forwarding from routing, facilitating the provision of varied routing services independent of the packet forwarding paradigm. The authors track the evolution of this technology in relation to other existing technologies. Then an overview of the MPLS architecture and design is provided. In addition, some of the work that was a precursor to MPLS is discussed, as well as related issues and debates     

Two-dimensional singular vector elements for finite-elementanalysis

The finite-element method (FEM) exhibits a reduced convergence rate when used for the analysis of geometries containing sharp edges where the electromagnetic field is singular. The convergence of the method can be-improved by introducing singular elements that model analytically predicted singular behavior. A number of authors have developed singular elements that are compatible with the scalar FEM. In this paper, we propose a new singular element that is compatible with edge-based vector finite elements and can cope with any order of singularity while preserving the sparsity of the FEM equations. Edge-based singular elements more correctly model singular fields and thus require fewer unknowns, while avoiding the introduction of spurious modes in the numerical solution. Numerical results verify that the convergence of the FEM is significantly improved     

Dysphagia due to cervical spine involvement in ankylosing spondylitis

Here we present a case of a patient with a massive ossification of annulus fibrosus and longitudinal ligament at the level C3-C4, C4-C5 and C5-C6, also called the Van Swaay bridge. One can observe a propulsion of the pharingeal tissue at the level of the massive Van Swaay bridge between C5 and C6 which caused pressure and dysphagia.     

Possibility of inflammation of a mixture of furnon-3KhP refractory mortar prepared using an aluminum-magnesium reducer

Inflammation of a mixture of Furnon-3KhP refractory mortar prepared using a binary reducer consisting of metallic Al and Mg powders is considered. It is shown that the inflammation temperature can be decreased by 100 – 150°C.
