Tilt correction is a very crucial and inevitable task in the automatic recognition of the vehicle license plate (VLP). In
this paper, according to the least square fitting with perpendicular offsets (LSFPO), the VLP region is fitted to a straight
line. After the line slope is obtained, rotation angle of the VLP is estimated. Then the whole image is rotated for tilt correction
in horizontal direction by this angle. Tilt correction in vertical direction by minimizing the variance of coordinates of
the projection points is proposed. Character segmentation is performed after horizontal correction and character points are
projected along the vertical direction after shear transform. Despite the success of VLP detection approaches in the past
decades, a few of them can effectively locate license plate (LP), even when vehicle bodies and LPs have similar color. A common
drawback of color-based VLP detection is the failure to detect the boundaries or border of LPs. In this paper, we propose
a modified recursive labeling algorithm for solving this problem and detecting candidate regions. According to different colored
LP, these candidate regions may include LP regions. Geometrical properties of the LP such as area, bounding box and aspect-ratio
are then used for classification. Various LP images were used with a variety of conditions to test the proposed method and

This paper describes a cluster-based method for combining differently exposed images in order to increase their dynamic range. Initially an image is decomposed into a set of arbitrary shaped regions. For each region we compute a utility function which is based on the amount of presented information and an entropy. This function is used to select the most appropriate exposure for each region. After the exposures are selected, a bilateral filtering is applied in order to make the interregional transitions smooth. As a result we obtain weighting coefficients for each exposure and pixel. An output image is combined from clusters of input images using weights. Each pixel of the output image is calculated as a weighted sum of exposures. The proposed method allows recovering details from overexposed and underexposed parts of image without producing additional noise. Our experiments show effectiveness of the algorithm for the high dynamic range scenes. It requires no information about shutter speed or camera parameters. This method shows robust results even if the exposure difference between input images is 2-stops or higher. 相似文献

This paper addresses a problem of cooperative formation control of a network of self-deployed autonomous agents. We propose a decentralized motion coordination control for the agents so that they collectively move in a desired geometric pattern from any initial position. There are no predefined leaders in the group and only local information is required for the control. The control algorithm is developed using the ideas of information consensus, and its effectiveness is illustrated via numerical simulations. 相似文献

This article focuses on the optimization of PCDM, a parallel, two-dimensional (2D) Delaunay mesh generation application, and its interaction with parallel architectures based on simultaneous multithreading (SMT) processors. We first present the step-by-step effect of a series of optimizations on performance. These optimizations improve the performance of PCDM by up to a factor of six. They target issues that very often limit the performance of scientific computing codes. We then evaluate the interaction of PCDM with a real SMT-based SMP system, using both high-level metrics, such as execution time, and low-level information from hardware performance counters. 相似文献

Contact between a slider and bit patterned media (BPM) is investigated using finite element analysis. The effect of contact conditions and material properties at the interface between slider and disk on plastic deformation and temperature is studied. In addition, the planarization of bit pattern media on temperature and plastic deformation is investigated for different filler materials. Compression-after-impact (CAI) strength of foam-cored sandwich panels with composite face sheets is investigated experimentally. The low-velocity impact by a semi-spherical (blunt) projectile is considered, producing a damage mainly in a form of core crushing accompanied by a permanent indentation (residual dent) in the face sheet. Instrumentation of the panels by strain gauges and digital speckle photography analysis are used to study the effect of damage on failure mechanisms in the panel. Residual dent growth inwards toward the mid-plane of a sandwich panel followed by a complete separation of the face sheet is identified as the failure mode. CAI strength of sandwich panels is shown to decrease with increasing impact damage size. Destructive sectioning of sandwich panels is used to characterise damage parameters and morphology for implementation in a finite element model. The finite element model that accounts for relevant details of impact damage morphology is developed and proposed for failure analysis and CAI strength predictions of damaged panels demonstrating a good correlation with experimental results. 相似文献

This paper considers the problem of simultaneous H∞ control of a finite collection of linear time-invariant systems via a nonlinear digital output feedback controller. The main result is given in terms of the existence of suitable solutions to Riccati algebraic equations and a dynamic programming equation. Our main result shows that if the simultaneous H∞ control problem for k linear time-invariant plants of orders n1,n2,…,nk can be solved, then this problem can be solved via a nonlinear time-invariant controller of order nn1+n2++nk. 相似文献

Application of hydrocarbon mixtures enables the creation of simple, reliable and durable refrigerating and cryogenic Joule–Thomson micro coolers for the temperature range of −73 to −183 °C. The temperature, thermal, power and hydraulic performances of a series of prototypes are presented. The results of tests demonstrate that small, single stage, sealed, lubricated compressors can be applied to these purposes. The start up and steady operation hydraulic performance of those machines are quite similar to the performance of domestic refrigerators. The last, together with the fact that in the studied micro coolers the lubricated compressors are used at temperatures down to −183 °C, ensures a large resource of operation. That is just the reason that holds out a hope for prospects in a broad field of applications for the studied prototypes, despite their lower power performances in contrast to gas micro coolers. 相似文献
