The objectives of this study were to determine the optimal extraction conditions of polyphenols from Syzygium cumini seeds by response surface methodology and investigate their antioxidant activity and inhibition on α-amylase and pancreatic lipase. As results, the optimal extraction conditions in the ultrasonic extraction process which maximised total polyphenols content, minimised the IC50 values of α-amylase and pancreatic lipase were determined as follows: extraction time 60 min, ethanol concentration 63% and solvent/solid ratio 44 mL g−1. The main phenolic compounds in partially purified fraction of Syzygium cumini seeds were catechin, epicatechin, kaempferol, gallic, 5-caffeoylquinic, caffeic and ferulic acids. In addition, the partially purified fraction inhibited 87.66 ± 5.55 and 86.61 ± 3.15% of α-amylase and pancreatic lipase, respectively. The results suggested that Syzygium cumini seeds could be explored as a natural antioxidant and could be used as a source of highly antidiabetic and anti-obesity bioactive compounds.  相似文献

The physicochemical composition changes during palm ripening were studied. The activities of invertase and cell wall-modifying enzymes, namely pectin methylesterase (PME), β-galactosidase (β-Gal), endo-1,4-β-d-glucanase (EGase), and cellulase were monitored during growth and ripening of Shahani, Piarom and Deiry cultivars with different textures. Also, we estimated the concentrations of six organic acids by HPLC. Reducing sugars, most of organic acid, pH and TSS increased up to the full-ripe stage of all date types. On the contrary, moisture, macro and microelements and proteins decreased during the same period. Despite a considerable rise in invertase activity (200 units) during ripening of Shahani, no significant trend could be discerned in Deiry cultivar (8 units) at different stages. Our results also showed that cell wall enzymes were increased in activity during ripening and these increases were coincident with fruit softening. Furthermore, our results showed that the composition and the variation of the chemical compositions mainly depended on the cultivar and maturity stage.  相似文献

This paper reports on the synthesis of rice-like NiSe2 nanoparticles via a simple hydrothermal method by employing [bis(2-hydoxyacetophenato)nickle(II)], [Ni(HAP)2], as a novel nickel precursor. Effect of nickel source on morphology and size of nanostructures was also investigated. Moreover, the as-synthesized NiSe2 nanostructures were utilized as the photocatalyst for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) and as the counter electrode in dye-sensitized solar cells. The results showed that structures size and morphology have salient effect on solar cells and using rice-like NiSe2 nanoparticles leads to an increase in DSSCs efficiency compared to agglomerated sphere-like particles from 6.04 to 8.99?% (~49?% improvement).  相似文献

This paper presents an investigation of the effects of temperature gradient distribution by the aid of a secondary burner on exergetic and environmental functions of the cement production process. For this reason, the burning system of the cement production (kiln &; preheater) process was simulated in four thermal areas. Three lines of cement production with 2,000, 2,300 and 2,600 ton/day were investigated. Fuel injection ratio into the secondary burner, from 10 to 40 percent was studied for each line. The obtained results show that, for cyclone preheaters, fuel injection into the secondary burner up to a proportion resulting in the minimum temperature required for alite formation (2,200 °C) in the kiln burning zone is suitable. For shaft preheaters, however, according to percent calcinations, there exists an optimum proportion for 15 to 20 percent injection fuel into secondary burner. Finally, it was shown that the secondary burner application can reduce the exergy losses about 25 percent, which leads to a reduction of the green house gases of about 35000 cubic meters per year for each ton per day of clinker production.  相似文献

This paper deals with influence of chitosan nanoparticles (CNPs) loaded by tetracycline, as a drug, on the physico-mechanical and antibacterial properties as well as drug release behavior of poly(vinyl alcohol), PVA, hydrogels prepared by electron beam irradiation. The formation of spherical chitosan particles in nanoscale size prepared by an ionic gelation method was confirmed by FTIR and UV spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy analyses. The drug release kinetic studies from drug loaded chitosan nanoparticles (DLCNPs) at pH = 7.4 revealed a linear and steady release behavior over long period of time. The theoretical analysis of the swelling kinetic data, using Peppas’s model showed that the swelling kinetic is governed by Fickian diffusion for all the prepared hydrogels, however, the water diffusion coefficient, and therefore, the swelling content were lower for the hydrogels loaded with DLCNPs as compared to the ones with the neat drug. In agreement with these results, the hydrogels containing DLCNPs exhibited a more controlled drug release behavior with significantly stronger antibacterial activity. The tensile mechanical properties of the hydrogels not affected by the DLCNPs were found to be suitable for wound dressing applications.  相似文献

In this paper, an investigation on surface properties of glass micropipettes and their effect on biological applications is reported. Pipettes were pulled under different pulling conditions and the effect of each pulling parameter was analyzed. SEM stereoscopic technique was used to reveal the surface roughness properties of pipette tip and pipette inner wall in 3D. More than 20 pipettes were reconstructed. Pipette heads were split open using focused ion beam (FIB) milling for access to the inner walls. It is found that surface roughness parameters are strongly related on the tip size. Bigger pipettes have higher average surface roughness and lower developed interfacial area ratio. Furthermore, the autocorrelation of roughness model of the inner surface shows that the inner surface does not have any tendency of orientation and is not affected by pulling direction. To investigate the effect of surface roughness properties on biological applications, patch-clamping tests were carried out by conventional and FIB-polished pipettes. The results of the experiments show that polished pipettes make significantly better seals. The results of this work are of important reference value for achieving pipettes with desired surface properties and can be used to explain biological phenomenon such as giga-seal formation.  相似文献

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were grown by chemical vapor deposition. The effect of the composition of carbon paste electrode on its voltammograms was evaluated in basic solution with 5.0×10−5 M tryptophan (Trp). It was found that addition of MWCNTs to the carbon paste would generate the peak current of Trp because of its catalytic effect on the redox process. The pH strongly affects the peak potential of Trp. The best analytical response was obtained at pH 13.0. The anodic peak currents were proportional to Trp concentrations in the range of 1.0×10−9−1.0×10−4 M under the optimized experimental conditions. The detection limit was 2.2×10−10 M. The effect of potential scan rate on the peak potential and peak current of tryptophan was investigated. The correlation of the peak currents against v1/2 (v is the scan rate) is linear, which is very similar to a diffusion-controlled process. The proposed biosensor was applied to the determination of Trp in pharmaceuticals formulations successfully.  相似文献
