The paper discusses a sequence detector based on univariate marginal distribution algorithm (UMDA) that jointly estimates the symbols transmitted in a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) communication system. While an optimal maximum likelihood detection using an exhaustive search method is prohibitively complex, it has been shown that sphere decoder (SD) achieves the optimal bit error rate (BER) performance with polynomial time complexity for smaller array sizes. However, the worst‐case complexity of SD is exponential in the problem dimensions, this brings in question its practical implementation for larger number of spatial layers and for higher‐order signal constellation. The proposed detector shows promising results for this overly difficult and complicated operating environment, confirmed through simulation results. A performance comparison of the UMDA detector with SD is presented for higher‐order complex MIMO architectures with limited average transmit power. The proposed detector achieves substantial performance gain for higher‐order systems attaining a near optimal BER performance with reduced computational complexity as compared with SD. Isomers of dechlorane plus in Lake Winnipeg and Lake Ontario food webs   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The extent of bioaccumulation of the syn- and anti-isomers of Dechlorane Plus (DP) is assessed in archived food web samples from Lake Winnipeg and Lake Ontario. Concentrations of the isomers were determined using purified analytical solutions of individual isomers as opposed to the technical mixture. The syn-isomer was consistently detected in all samples from both lakes; the anti-isomer was detected in all Lake Ontario samples, but only 45% of the samples from Lake Winnipeg. The pattern of bioaccumulation was different for the isomers in Lake Winnipeg. The anti-isomer was dominant in higher trophic level (TL) organisms like walleye [arithmetic mean +/- 1 x standard error: 730 +/- 120 pg/g, lipid weight (1w)] and goldeye (760 +/- 170 pg/g, Iw) while the syn-isomer dominated the lower TL organisms like zooplankton (550 +/- 40 pg/g, Iw) and mussels (430 +/- 140 pg/g, Iw). In Lake Ontario, the extent of bioaccumulation of the isomers and concentrations was greatest in the lower TL benthic organism, Diporeia (syn, 1307 +/- 554; and anti, 3108 +/- 898 pg/g Iw) and also high in zooplankton (syn, 719; and anti, 1332 pg/g Iw). This suggests that the isomers are bioavailable in sediment and that, despite their molecular size, diffusion from the water column into zooplankton can occur. Differences in the mean fractional abundance of the anti-isomer (mean fanti = mean concentration of the anti-isomer divided by sum of mean syn- and anti-concentrations) were pronounced in sediments between lakes (Lake Winnipeg mean fanti = 0.610, Lake Ontario mean fanti = 0.860) and the extent of enrichment (anti-) and depletion (syn-) of the isomers were more marked in Lake Winnipeg biota. There were also differences in the biomagnification potentials, as measured bythe trophic magnification factor (TMF), between the isomers in the Lake Winnipeg food web; no statistically significant TMFs for either isomer were found for the  相似文献

Alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency (AT) is an autosomal recessive disease associated with chronic liver disease in adults and children and emphysema in adults. The disease is one of the most common inherited disorders of the Caucasian population of North Europe and North America and is the most common genetic reason for pediatric orthotopic liver transplantation (OLTx), although it is a rare indication in adults. The natural history of the disease is unpredictable and the pathogenesis of the liver injury unclear. Thirty-five patients with histologically apparent alpha 1 AT accumulation in the liver (22 adults, 13 children) have been transplanted in this center. Clinical features were correlated with the pretransplant phenotype, serum alpha 1 antitrypsin levels and potential precipitating factors. All children were PiZZ homozygotes, most of whom had presented with neonatal hepatitis. The majority of adult patients were heterozygotes presenting with portal hypertension and liver cirrhosis. Current one-year posttransplant survival figures are 73% for adults and 87.5% for children. Replacement of the cirrhotic liver results in acquisition of the donor phenotype, a rise in serum levels of alpha 1 antitrypsin, and apparent prevention of associated disease.  相似文献

Anodised zirconium (Zr) foil at 20 V for 1 h in Na2SO4 with 0.5 wt.% NH4F resulted in 6 μm thick anodic oxide film with nanotubular structure. At 50 V the anodic layer is consisted of an irregular inner layer with the nanotubular structure only at the top of the layer. Nonetheless, the anodic oxides formed are crystalline and photocatalytic ability of the anodic oxide was assessed by photodegradation of methyl orange.  相似文献

The nutritional and antioxidant properties of peels, pulp and seeds of kembayau (Dacryodes rostrata) fruits were evaluated. Kembayau seeds and pulp were rich in fat, while peels had the highest ash contents. Potassium was the most prevalent mineral in peels (380.72-1112.00 mg/100 g). In kembayau fruits, total flavonoid content (1012.74-28,022.28 mg rutin equivalent/100 g) was higher than total phenolic and total monomeric anthocyanin contents. Kembayau seeds exhibited high flavonoid and phenolic contents compared to the contents in peels and pulp. Antioxidant capacities were also higher in seeds as typified by trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity assay (51.39-74.59 mmol TE/100 g), ferric reducing antioxidant power assay (530.05-556.98 mmol Fe2+/100 g) and by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl radical scavenging activity (92.18-92.19%) when compared to peels and pulp. Pulp and peels of kembayau fruit may be an important source of energy and minerals for human consumption, while seeds have a good potential as antioxidants.  相似文献

Ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber (EPDM)-based composites containing sepiolite (sep) hybridized with calcium carbonate (CaCO3), silica (Sil) or carbon black (CB) were prepared on a two-roll mill. The influence of fillers’ contents on the curing, mechanical, thermal and flammability of the composites was investigated. In comparison with EPDM/sep at 30 parts per hundred rubbers (phr) as a control composite, EPDM/sep/CB composites exhibited an outstanding improvement in tensile strength followed by EPDM/sep/Sil and EPDM/sep/CaCO3 composites. EPDM/sep/CB displayed the highest thermal stability and also improved flammability resistance. In addition, a higher amount of carbon black gave higher tensile strength. The results were influenced by the ability of CB to disperse well and form protective layers acting as mass transport barriers in the matrix. The field emission scanning electron microscopy analyses proved better dispersion of CB in the matrix. The presence of protective layers on the surface of samples consequently improved the thermal properties of the EPDM composites. The mechanism of formation of char protective layer in hybrid EPDM composites was also investigated based on morphological observations of char residues. According to this work, Sil and CB were able to hybrid with sep, while sep could be a potential substitution of CaCO3 in the EPDM composites.  相似文献

Removal by absorptive ceramic membranes can simultaneously absorb and separate metal ions from water. Alumina/yttria‐stabilized zirconia (Al2O3/YSZ) hollow‐fiber membranes, fabricated using phase inversion and sintering process, were deposited with iron oxide by an in‐situ hydrothermal process. The results showed that α‐Fe2O3 was produced and incorporated across the membranes. A reduction in flux was recorded with the deposition of α‐Fe2O3. However, it improved the adsorption capacity for heavy metal adsorption. The adsorption‐separation test demonstrated that the optimized membrane is able to completely remove Pb(II) ions after two hours.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the association of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and haplotypes of potassium voltage-gated channel, KQT-like subfamily, member 1 (KCNQ1) with type 2 diabetes (T2D) in Malaysian Chinese subjects. The KCNQ1 SNPs rs2237892, rs2283228 and rs2237895 were genotyped in 300 T2D patients and 230 control subjects without diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Two logistic regression models of analysis were applied, the first adjusted for age and gender while the second adjusted for age, gender and body mass index. The additive genetic analysis showed that adjusting for body mass index (BMI) even strengthened association of rs2237892, rs2283228 and rs2237895 with T2D (OR = 2.0, P = 5.1 × 10(-5); OR = 1.9, P = 5.2 × 10(-5); OR = 1.9, P = 7.8 × 10(-5), respectively). The haplotype TCA containing the allele of rs2237892 (T), rs2283228 (C) and rs2237895 (A) was highly protective against T2D (Second model; OR = 0.17, P = 3.7 × 10(-11)). The KCNQ1 rs2237892 (TT), and the protective haplotype (TCA) were associated with higher beta-cell function (HOMA-B) in normal subjects (P = 0.0002; 0.014, respectively). This study found that KCNQ1 SNPs was associated with T2D susceptibility in Malaysian Chinese subjects. In addition, certain KCNQ1 haplotypes were strongly associated with T2D.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of pore-forming hydrophilic additives on the porous asymmetric polyvinylideneflouride (PVDF) ultrafiltration (UF) membrane morphology and transport properties for refinery produced wastewater treatment. PVDF ultrafiltration membranes were prepared via a phase inversion method by dispersing lithium chloride monohydrate (LiCl·H2O) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles in the spinning dope. The morphological and performance tests were conducted on PVDF ultrafiltration membranes prepared from a different additive content. The top surface and cross-sectional area of the membranes were observed using a field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis. The surface wettability of porous membranes was determined by the measurement of a contact angle. The mean pore size and surface porosity were calculated based on the permeate flux. The results indicated that the PVDF/LiCl/TiO2 membranes with lower TiO2 nanoparticles loading possessed smaller mean pore size, more apertures inside the membrane with enhanced membrane hydrophilicity. LiCl·H2O has been employed particularly to reduce the thermodynamic miscibility of dope which resulted in increasing the rate of liquid–liquid demixing process. The maximum flux and rejection of refinery wastewater using PVDF ultrafiltration membrane achieved were 82.50 L/m2 h and 98.83% respectively at 1.95 wt.% TiO2 concentration.  相似文献
