Following graphene growth by thermal decomposition of ethylene on Ir(111) at high temperatures we analyzed the strain state and the wrinkle formation kinetics as function of temperature. Using the moiré spot separation in a low energy electron diffraction pattern as a magnifying mechanism for the difference in the lattice parameters between Ir and graphene, we achieved an unrivaled relative precision of ±0.1 pm for the graphene lattice parameter. Our data reveals a characteristic hysteresis of the graphene lattice parameter that is explained by the interplay of reversible wrinkle formation and film strain. We show that graphene on Ir(111) always exhibits residual compressive strain at room temperature. Our results provide important guidelines for strategies to avoid wrinkling.  相似文献

Laser transmission welding of thermoplastics is gaining importance in industrial series production because of its advantageous properties and the increasing interest in this technology. At the same time, the demand on ongoing investigations and research to understand the processes involved is being developed intensively. In this report, a simplified mathematic–physical model of laser transmission welding based on finite‐elements method will be presented. For the first calculations, the material PA6 and the quasi‐simultaneous laser welding process mode were chosen. The model comprises of the complete laser welding process, including the heating and the cooling phase. Boundary conditions and relevant process parameters were specified for the simulation, such as the laser beam intensity, the joining pressure, and the welding time. Flow and temperature profiles were then calculated. Because of the array of available boundary conditions, it is possible to continuously improve the model while comparing the simulated data with that obtained in the experiments. The experimental data were gathered by detecting the displacement of tracer particles in dependence on time and place. Moreover, the melt layer thickness was measured. In general, very good agreement was achieved between the calculated and the measured results. Once the steady–state conditions were achieved, no change in the remaining melt layer thickness, temperature, flow velocity, or weld strength was observed. It was seen that the maximum temperature was placed in the upper layers of the absorbent partner and not in the joining surface. Buprenorphine was used as a post-operative analgesic drug in 40 dogs and 30 cats. The analgesic properties of buprenorphine failed in 20% (dogs) respectively 23.3% (cats) of the cases even after high doses of 0.1 mg/kg in dogs and 0.01 mg/kg in cats. The unsatisfactory results were seen in fracture-patients with a concurrent severe tissue damage. Side effects even after high doses were of no clinical relevance.  相似文献

The Ca2+ receptor is a G protein-coupled receptor that enables parathyroid cells and certain other cells in the body to respond to changes in the concentration of extracellular Ca2+. In this study, two novel phenylalkylamine compounds, NPS 467 and NPS 568, were examined for effects on Xenopus laevis oocytes expressing the bovine or human parathyroid Ca2+ receptors. Increases in chloride current (ICl) were elicited in oocytes expressing the bovine Ca2+ receptor when the extracellular Ca2+ concentration was raised above 1.5 mM, whereas Ca2+ concentrations > 3 mM were generally necessary to elicit responses in oocytes expressing the human Ca2+ receptor. NPS 467 and NPS 568 potentiated the activation of ICl by extracellular Ca2+ in oocytes expressing either Ca2+ receptor homolog, and this resulted in a leftward shift of the Ca2+ concentration-response curve. Neither compound was active in the absence of extracellular Ca2+. Certain inorganic and organic cations known to activate the Ca2+ receptor were substituted for elevated levels of extracellular Ca2+ to increase ICl and the effects of these agonists were also potentiated by NPS 568 or NPS 467. The effects of NPS 568 were stereoselective and the R-enantiomer was about 10-fold more potent than the corresponding S-enantiomer. Neither NPS 467 nor 568 affected ICl in water-injected oocytes or in oocytes expressing the substance K receptor or the metabotropic glutamate receptor 1a. These results provide compelling evidence that NPS 467 and NPS 568 act directly upon the parathyroid Ca2+ receptor to increase its sensitivity to activation by extracellular Ca2+. This activity suggests that these compounds are positive allosteric modulators of the Ca2+ receptor. As such, these compounds define a new class of pharmacological agents with potent and selective actions on the Ca2+ receptor.  相似文献

PURPOSE: A phase I/II trial of docetaxel, cisplatin, fluorouracil (5-FU), and leucovorin (TPFL5) induction chemotherapy for patients with locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN). PATIENTS AND METHODS: Twenty-three previously untreated patients with stage III or IV SCCHN and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group functional status less than or equal to 2 were treated with TPFL5. Postchemotherapy home support included intravenous fluids, prophylactic antibiotics, and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). Docetaxel dose was escalated to determine the maximum-tolerated dose (MTD). Fifteen patients were treated with three cycles of TPFL5 at MTD. Patients who achieved either a partial response (PR) or complete response (CR) to three cycles of TPFL5 then received definitive twice-daily radiation therapy. Toxicity and clinical and pathologic response to TPFL5 were assessed. RESULTS: Twenty-three patients received a total of 69 cycles of TPFL5. The MTD was determined to be docetaxel 60 mg/m2. Dose-limiting toxicity (DLT) was neutropenia. Additional significant toxicities at MTD were nausea, mucositis, diarrhea, peripheral neuropathy, and sodium-wasting nephropathy. The overall response rate to TPFL5 was 100%, which included 14 of 23 (61%) clinical CRs and nine of 23 (39%) clinical PRs. Primary-site clinical and pathologic CR rates were 19 of 22 (86%) CRs and 20 of 22 (91%) CRs, respectively. Eight patients had less than a CR in the neck to chemotherapy and, therefore, had postradiation neck dissections, four of which were positive for residual tumor. CONCLUSION: TPFL5 is a tolerable induction regimen in patients with good performance status. The DLT is neutropenia with significant mucositis, diarrhea, peripheral neuropathy, and sodium-wasting nephropathy. The high response rates to TPFL5 justify further evaluation of this combination of agents in the context of formal clinical trials.  相似文献

The effects of sensor selection and sensor blending on the cardiovascular response to graded exercise was evaluated in 10 patients (age 74 +/- 2 yrs; 7 men and 3 women) implanted with a dual sensor rate adaptive VVIR pacemaker (Vitatron Topaz model 515). Patients underwent three graded exercise tests (GXT) with sensor programming randomly assigned. For a given graded exercise text the pacemaker was programmed into activity sensing (ACT), QT sensing, or dual sensing (ACT = QT). Data were recorded at rest and during each stage of the graded exercise text. Oxygen uptake (VO2) was measured continuously using a Q Plex I system. Heart rate (HR), stroke volume (SV), and cardiac output (Qc) were measured by impedance cardiography. Systolic time intervals were calculated from simultaneous recordings of the ECG, phonocardiogram, and the impedance cardiogram. In response to the GXT no differences in peak VO2 were observed across the three sensor settings. Regardless of the sensor setting Qc increased linearly with each increment in VO2. The HR response to ACT only pacing was significantly higher than in the other two pacing conditions. During ACT only pacing SV failed to rise in response to exercise. The increased exercise Qc during QT and ACT = QT pacing were mediated by significant increases in both HR and SV. The QT and dual pacing conditions were also associated with longer diastolic filling times. The data indicate that the mechanisms responsible for the increase Qc during exercise were different for ACT versus ACT = QT or QT sensor-driven pacing.  相似文献
