Do adolescent symptomatology and family environment vary over time with fluctuations in paternal alcohol impairment?

This study tested whether adolescent internalizing problems, externalizing problems, heavy alcohol use, fathers' parenting, and family conflict varied over time with fluctuations in fathers' alcohol impairment and also whether children of recovered alcoholic fathers differed from children of nonalcoholic fathers. Fathers and adolescent children (N?=?267 families) were interviewed in 3 annual assessments. Results showed that adolescent symptomatology and the family environment did not vary over time as a function of different trajectories of paternal alcohol impairment. However, children of recovered alcoholic fathers exhibited more symptomatology than did children of nonalcoholic fathers. Even though paternal alcoholism has remitted in these families, children of recovered alcoholic fathers might remain on a general higher risk trajectory relative to children of nonalcoholic fathers. Catalytic oxidation of thioanisole using oxovanadium(IV)‐functionalized electrospun polybenzimidazole nanofibers

Polybenzimidazole fibers, with an average diameter of 262 nm, were produced by the process of electrospinning. These fibers were used as a solid support material for the immobilization of oxovanadium(IV) which was achieved via a reaction with vanadyl sulfate. The oxovanadium(IV)‐functionalized nanofibers were used as heterogeneous catalysts for the oxidation of thioanisole under both batch and pseudo‐continuous flow conditions with great success. Under batch conditions near quantitative oxidation of thioanisole was achieved in under 90 min, even after four successive catalytic reactions. Under continuous conditions, excellent conversion of thioanisole was maintained throughout the period studied at flow rates of up to 2 mLh^?1. This study, therefore, proposes that electrospun polybenzimidazole nanofibers, with their small diameters, impressive chemical and thermal stability, as well as coordinating benzimidazole group, may be a desirable support material for immobilization of homogeneous catalysts. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Exploring Internal Structure of Nanoporous Glasses Obtained by Leaching of Phase‐Separated Alkali Borosilicate Glasses

Mesoporous glasses – the leaching products of phase‐separated alkali borosilicate glasses – are widely used in fundamental research and practical applications. In this work, the option to control their internal mesopore structure by varying the conditions of microphase separation has been studied. Structure and transport characterization of a family of nanoporous glasses obtained under different conditions has been performed using a combination of several experimental techniques, including gas adsorption, nuclear magnetic resonance cryoporometry and diffusometry.     

Transmittance from visible to mid infra-red in AZO films grown by atomic layer deposition system

We report transmittance and conductivity measurements of aluminum-doped zinc oxide films grown by atomic layer deposition. The results show that the films have 80–90% transmittance in the visible region and good transmittance in the infrared. To our knowledge, this is the first time that the transmittance of aluminum-doped zinc oxide is reported to extend beyond 2500–5000 nm. Following annealing, an optimal sheet resistance of 25 Ω/□ was obtained for a 575 nm thick film with a carrier density of 2.4 × 10²⁰ cm^?3 without compromising the transmittance in the visible regime.     

便携式SF_6气相色谱仪的试验研究及应用

介绍了一种在台式气相色谱仪的基础上,采用高新技术对核心部件热导池进行革新研制出的便携式SF6气相色谱仪。并通过对该气相色谱仪进行实验室试验研究,以及到现场检测SF6绝缘电气设备中的空气、CF4等杂质含量和SF6纯度,证明了该仪器具备同传统的台式色谱仪同等的灵敏度和精度,而且由于具备便携式这一特点,极大地方便了电力检修人员的现场测试,为SF6电气绝缘设备状态检修提供了一种检测手段。     

Lattice Boltzmann simulations in microfluidics: probing the no-slip boundary condition in hydrophobic, rough, and surface nanobubble laden microchannels

In this contribution, we review recent efforts on investigations of the effect of (apparent) boundary slip by utilizing lattice Boltzmann simulations. We demonstrate the applicability of the method to treat fundamental questions in microfluidics by investigating fluid flow in hydrophobic and rough microchannels as well as over surfaces covered by nano- or microscale gas bubbles.
