Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducers (EMATs) are an attractive alternative to standard piezoelectric probes in a number of applications thanks to their contactless nature. EMATs do not require any couplant liquid and are able to generate a wide range of wave-modes; however these positive features are partly counterbalanced by a relatively low signal-to-noise ratio and by the dependence of EMAT performance on the material properties of the test object. A wide variety of steel materials is employed in many industrial applications, so it is important to assess the material-dependent behaviour of EMATs when used in the inspection of different types of steel. Experimental data showing the performance of bulk shear wave EMATs on a wide range of steels is presented, showing the typical range of physical properties encountered in practice. A previously validated Finite Element model, including the main transduction mechanisms, the Lorentz force and magnetostriction, is used to evaluate the experimental data. The main conclusion is that the Lorentz force is the dominant transduction effect, regardless of the magnitude and direction of the bias magnetic field. Differently from magnetostriction, the Lorentz force is not significantly sensitive to the typical range of physical properties of steels, as a consequence the same EMAT sensor can be used on different grades of ferritic steel.  相似文献

Zn1−xCoxO (x==0.05, 0.10, 0.15) nanoparticles have been synthesized by an alternative wet-chemical synthesis route using the SimAdd technique. The as-obtained powders were investigated by FT-IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis correlated with evolved gas analysis (TG–DTA–FT-IR) in order to determine their chemical nature, crystalline structure and to establish the decomposition sequences. The precipitates are generally amorphous, but low-intensity reflection peaks assigned both to the zinc oxalate dihydrate, and zinc hydroxide can be observed in the recorded patterns, indicating that hydroxy-oxalate precipitates were obtained. The structure, morphology and magnetic properties of the thermally treated samples have been investigated by X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, HRTEM, SAED, UV–vis and EPR. XRD studies reveal a hexagonal wurtzite-type structure for all Zn1−xCoxO samples. TEM investigations show particle size between 28 and 37 nm, with spherical and polyhedral shapes and with tendency to form aggregates. The presence of a Co3O4 secondary phase was evidenced by XRD, UV–vis and EPR for the Zn0.85Co0.15O sample. The ferromagnetic behavior of the samples was revealed. The paper highlights that by varying the cobalt concentration it is possible to modulate the structural, morphological, optical and magnetic properties.  相似文献

Early detection, characterization and monitoring of cancer are possible by using extracellular vesicles (EVs) isolated from non-invasively obtained liquid biopsy samples. They play a role in intercellular communication contributing to cell growth, differentiation and survival, thereby affecting the formation of tumor microenvironments and causing metastases. EVs were discovered more than seventy years ago. They have been tested recently as tools of drug delivery to treat cancer. Here we give a brief review on extracellular vesicles, exosomes, microvesicles and apoptotic bodies. Exosomes play an important role by carrying extracellular nucleic acids (DNA, RNA) in cell-to-cell communication causing tumor and metastasis development. We discuss the role of extracellular vesicles in the pathogenesis of cancer and their practical application in the early diagnosis, follow up, and next-generation treatment of cancer patients.  相似文献

The clonal composition of a malignant tumor strongly depends on cellular dynamics influenced by the asynchronized loss of DNA repair mechanisms. Here, our aim was to identify founder mutations leading to subsequent boosts in mutation load. The overall mutation burden in 591 colorectal cancer tumors was analyzed, including the mutation status of DNA-repair genes. The number of mutations was first determined across all patients and the proportion of genes having mutation in each percentile was ranked. Early mutations in DNA repair genes preceding a mutational expansion were designated as founder mutations. Survival analysis for gene expression was performed using microarray data with available relapse-free survival. Of the 180 genes involved in DNA repair, the top five founder mutations were in PRKDC (n = 31), ATM (n = 26), POLE (n = 18), SRCAP (n = 18), and BRCA2 (n = 15). PRKDC expression was 6.4-fold higher in tumors compared to normal samples, and higher expression led to longer relapse-free survival in 1211 patients (HR = 0.72, p = 4.4 × 10−3). In an experimental setting, the mutational load resulting from UV radiation combined with inhibition of PRKDC was analyzed. Upon treatments, the mutational load exposed a significant two-fold increase. Our results suggest PRKDC as a new key gene driving tumor heterogeneity.  相似文献

Isocyanoaminoarenes (ICAAr-s) are a novel and versatile group of solvatochromic fluorophores. Despite their versatile applicability, such as antifungals, cancer drugs and analytical probes, they still represent a mostly unchartered territory among intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) dyes. The current paper describes the preparation and detailed optical study of novel 1-isocyano-5-aminoanthrace (ICAA) and its N-methylated derivatives along with the starting 1,5-diaminoanthracene. The conversion of one of the amino groups of the diamine into an isocyano group significantly increased the polar character of the dyes, which resulted in a significant 50–70 nm (2077–2609 cm−1) redshift of the emission maximum and a broadened solvatochromic range. The fluorescence quantum yield of ICAAs is strongly influenced by the polarity of the solvent. The starting anthracene-diamine is highly fluorescent in every solvent (√f = 12–53%), while the isocyano derivatives are practically nonfluorescent in solvents more polar than dioxane. This phenomenon implies the potential application of ICAAs to probe the polarity of the medium and is favorable in practical applications, such as cell-staining, resulting in a reduced background fluorescence. The ICT character of the emission states of ICAAs are in good agreement with the computational findings presented in TD-DFT calculations and molecular electrostatic potential (MESP) isosurfaces.  相似文献

The reuse of plastic components of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is an important concern both for environmental issues and to preserve the material resources, with minimum energy consumption. Considering that polystyrene fraction was reported as approximate 80% of the total amount of WEEE plastic, this article aims to evaluate the recycling of this fraction, without separation by components, by melt compounding with styrene-butadiene block-copolymer (SBS) and hydrogenated and maleinized SBS, the blend of the two elastomers acting both as an impact modifier and compatibilizer. The composites are characterized by mechanical analysis, impact tests, dynamic mechanical analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, and X-ray diffraction. The recycling conditions of the polystyrene fraction as composites without eliminating the WEEE additives for improved UV and flame resistance, with physical mechanical properties comparable to those of high-impact polystyrene resulted from the study. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, a cell average technique(CAT) based parameter estimation method is proposed for cooling crystallization involved with particle growth, aggregation and breakage, by establishing a more efficient and accurate solution in terms of the automatic differentiation(AD) algorithm. To overcome the deficiency of CAT that demands high computation cost for implementation, a set of ordinary differential equations(ODEs) entailed from CAT based discretized population balance equation(PBE) are solved by using the AD based high-order Taylor expansion. Moreover, an AD based trust-region reflective(TRR) algorithm and another interior-point(IP) algorithm are established for estimating the kinetic parameters associated with particle growth, aggregation and breakage. As a result, the estimation accuracy can be further improved while the computation cost can be significantly reduced, compared to the existing algorithms. Benchmark examples from the literature are used to illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of the AD-based CAT, TRR and IP algorithms in comparison with the existing algorithms. Moreover, seeded batch cooling crystallization experiments of β form L-glutamic acid are performed to validate the proposed method.  相似文献

The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in Egyptian condensates are analyzed for the first. A solid phase extraction (SPE) followed by gas chromatography-mass selective detection was used for their analysis. The method was calibrated for optimal extraction conditions. Excellent recoveries were found (78–114%) for the PAHs that were identified using a variety of standards and GC-MS spectra. The solid-phase extracted PAH fraction was further separated by HPLC on a Ag(I) mercaptopropanosilica gel to reduce the complexity of the sample by separating the PAHs based on the number of aromatic rings. The analytes were quantified using GC with a flame ionization detector. For this kind of sample SPE is a more convenient separation technique than an open column. PAHs containing two to four rings in the concentration range 0.6–11 μg/L were measured. Some preliminary geochemical hypotheses based on the analyzed PAHs and the previously analyzed S-containing aromatic compounds were formed as to the depositional environment and source rock type.  相似文献
