Ethanolamine plasmalogen (PlsEtn), which is present at high levels in brains, is believed to be involved in neuronal protection. The present study was performed to search for PlsEtn resources in foodstuffs. The foodstuffs examined showed a wide range of PlsEtn contents from 5 to 549 μmol/100 g wet wt. The marine invertebrates, blue mussel, and ascidian had high PlsEtn contents (over 200 μmol/100 g wet wt). Profiling of the molecular species showed that the predominant fatty acids of PlsEtn species were 20:5 (EPA) and 22:6 (DHA) at the sn‐2 position of the glycerol moiety in marine foodstuffs, whereas major PlsEtn species in land foodstuffs were 20:4. Following quantitative analysis by multiple reaction monitoring, the ascidian viscera were shown to contain the highest levels of 18:0/20:5‐PlsEtn and 18:0/22:6‐PlsEtn (86 and 68 μmol/100 g wet wt, respectively). In order to evaluate a neuronal antiapoptotic effect of these PlsEtn species, human neuroblastoma SH‐SY5Y cells were treated with ethanolamine glycerophospholipid (EtnGpl), purified from the ascidian viscera, under serum starvation conditions. Extrinsic EtnGpl from ascidian viscera showed stronger suppression of cell death induced by serum starvation than with bovine brain EtnGpl. The EtnGpl from ascidian viscera strongly suppressed the activation of caspase 3. These results suggest that PlsEtn, especially that containing EPA and DHA, from marine foodstuffs is potentially useful for a therapeutic dietary supplement preventing neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease (AD).  相似文献

TAG (MLM) with medium-chain FA (MCFA) at the 1,3-positions and long-chain FA (LCFA) at the 2-position, and TAG (LMM) with LCFA at the 1(3)-position and MCFA at 2,3(1)-positions are a pair of TAG regioisomers. Large-scale preparation of the two TAG regioisomers was attempted. A commercially available FFA mixture (FFA-CLA) containing 9-cis, 11-trans (9c, 11t)- and 10t,12c-CLA was selected as LCFA, and caprylic acid (C8FA) was selected as MCFA. The MLM isomer was synthesized by acidolysis of acyglycerols (AG) containing two CLA isomers with C8FA: A mixture of AG-CLA/C8 FA (1∶10, mol/mol) and 4 wt% immobilized Rhizomucor miehei lipase was agitated at 30°C for 72 h. The ratio of MLM to total AG was 51.1 wt%. Meanwhile, LMM isomer was synthesized by acidolysis of tricaprylin with FFA-CLA: A mixture of tricaprylin/FFA-CLA (1∶2, mol/mol) and 4 wt% immobilized R. miehei lipase was agitated at 30°C for 24 h. The ratio of LMM to total AG was 51.8 wt%. MLM and LMM were purified from 1,968 and 813 g reaction mixtures by stepwise short-path distillation, respectively. Consequently, MLM was purified to 92.3% with 49.1% recovery, and LMM was purified to 93.2% with 52.3% recovery. Regiospecific analyses of MLM and LMM indicated that the 2-positions of MLM and LMM were 95.1 mol% LCFA and 98.3 mol% C8 FA, respectively. The results showed that a process comprising lipase reaction and short-path distillation is effective for large-scale preparation of high-purity regiospecific TAG isomers.  相似文献

The anaerobic ammonium-oxidizing (ANAMMOX) bacteria were enriched from a rotating disk reactor (RDR) biofilm in semi-batch cultures. Based on fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis, this enrichment led to a relative population size of 36% ANAMMOX bacteria. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that all the detected clones were related to the previously reported ANAMMOX bacteria, Candidatus Brocadia anammoxidans (AF375994), with 92% sequence similarity. Furthermore, we successfully developed a real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay to quantify populations of ANAMMOX bacteria in the enrichment cultures. For this real-time PCR assay, PCR primer sets targeting 16S ribosomal RNA genes of ANAMMOX bacteria were designed and used. The quantification range of this assay was 6 orders of magnitude, from 8.9x10(1) to 8.9x10(6) copies per PCR, corresponding to the detection limit of 3.6x10(3) target copies mL(-1). A significant correlation was found between the increase in copy numbers of 16S rRNA gene of ANAMMOX bacteria and the increase in nitrogen removal rates in the enrichment cultures. Quantifying ANAMMOX bacterial populations in the enrichment culture made it possible to estimate the doubling time of the enriched ANAMMOX bacteria to be 3.6 to 5.4 days. The real-time PCR assay gave comparable population sizes in the enrichment cultures with the FISH results. These results suggest that the real-time PCR assay developed in this study is useful and reliable for quantifying the populations of ANAMMOX bacteria in environmental and engineering samples.  相似文献

Polyvinyl borate (PVBO) was prepared by the condensation of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and boric acid, and used as a precursor for boron carbide. Boron carbide powder was synthesized by the pyrolysis of the PVBO precursor in air at 600 °C for 2 h, followed by heat treatment in Ar flow at 1300 °C for 5 h, which is a relatively low temperature compared with conventional carbothermal methods. Pyrolysis of the PVBO precursor resulted in submicron-size particles of B2O3 dispersed in a carbon matrix. In addition, the pyrolysis temperature governed the carbon content in the pyrolyzed product of the PVBO precursor, which led to the synthesis of crystalline boron carbide powder with little free carbon.  相似文献

State‐of‐the‐art LiFePO4 technology has now opened the door for lithium ion batteries to take their place in large‐scale applications such as plug‐in hybrid vehicles. A high level of safety, significant cost reduction, and huge power generation are on the verge of being guaranteed for the most advanced energy storage system. The room‐temperature phase diagram is essential to understand the facile electrode reaction of LixFePO4 (0 < x < 1), but it has not been fully understood. Here, intermediate solid solution phases close to x = 0 and x = 1 have been isolated at room temperature. Size‐dependent modification of the phase diagram, as well as the systematic variation of lattice parameters inside the solid‐solution compositional domain closely related to the electrochemical redox potential, are demonstrated. These experimental results reveal that the excess capacity that has been observed above and below the two‐phase equilibrium potential is largely due to the bulk solid solution, and thus support the size‐dependent miscibility gap model.  相似文献

This article investigates factors that influenced Japanese voters in the early 1996 in determining which political party to support. Proportional-odds model, a model which retains ordinal nature of political hues or ideologies of the Japanese political parties, is fitted to the data. Samples with answers “I do not know” to the questions are treated as missing. The EM algorithm enables us to incorporate the samples with missing-values. We found that determining which party to support is a purely political decision for Japanese voters based solely on their ideologies and attitude towards the current cabinet, not to be influenced by their geographical profiles nor financial situations. Missing-value problem were found not to be ignored in the sense that marginally significant or insignificant explanatory variables can easily turn otherwise when the same model is fitted only for the data with no missing-values.

The ionic conductivity of the polycrystalline samples of the lithium chloride spinel, Li2MCl4 (M = Mg, Mn, Fe, Cd) is measured by the help of ac techniques in the temperature range of 25–500°C. The highest conductivity of 0.3 Scm?1 at 400°C is obtained in Li2CdCl4. In addition, the solid solution, Li2?2δM1+δCl4, has been examined. It is found that Li1.9Cd1.05Cl4 has higher conductivity than that of Li2CdCl4. The phase transitions of these compounds are also discussed.  相似文献

It has been reported that, compared with TAG, DAG suppresses postprandial hypertriacylglycerolemia and reduces visceral fat levels in experimental animals and humans. To clarify the mechanism responsible for these beneficial effects, we compared the lymphatic transport of 1,3-DAG, a major isomer of DAG, and TAG in rats. Male SD rats, after insertion of a cannula into the thoracic duct, were given 1,3-di[1-14C]oleoylglycerol or tri[1-14C]oleoylglycerol via a stomach tube. The 24-h receovery of the radioactivity from 1,3-di[14C]oleoylglycerol in the lymph was slightly but significantly lower than that from tri[14C]oleoylglycerol (81.3±1.0 vs. 86.5±1.2%, respectively). However, in the first 1-h interval after administration, the recovery of radioactivity from 1,3-dioleoylglycerol was almost half of that from trioleoylglycerol (17.5±2.0 vs. 31.1±1.4%). The amount of TAG and phospholipids secreted into the lymph was significantly lower 1 h after the administration of 1,3-dioleoylglycerol compared with that after the administration of trioleoylglycerol. More than 90% of the radioactivity recovered in the lymph in the first 3 h was distributed in the TAG fraction for both 1,3-dioleoylglycerol and trioleoylglycerol. These results suggest that slower lymphatic transport of 1,3-DAG compared with TAG could be a factor in the suppression of postprandial hypertriacylglycerolemia. The possibility that the slower lymphatic transport of DAG contributes to the antiobesity action observed in the feeding of 1,3-DAG cannot be excluded.  相似文献

The probabilistic neural network (PNN) is one of the most promising neural networks, and is now applied to some real-world applications. In order to speed up the PNN calculation considerably, we have developed a PNN hardware system for video image recognition. The performance of the PNN hardware cannot be evaluated precisely until the evaluation system is completed. Beryllides have remarkable characteristics besides their low density, such as high radiation resistance, high chemical stability, low hydrogen isotope retention and good high temperature mechanical strength especially for fusion applications. In order to have a practical usage for industrial applications, it is important to compile a set of quantitative data on such properties. It is also important to develop fabrication and processing paths to assure the processing of inherently brittle beryllides.The characterization and manufacturing technologies development have been carried out mainly on the Be12Ti interemetallic compounds at the Be-rich side of the Be-Ti binary system. In the present paper, up-dated results on several properties are described for the compound fabricated by hot isostatic pressing (HIP) and ingot metallurgy. Mechanical properties of the compounds having a duplex microstructure with neighboring phases are evaluated by compressive tests from room temperature to 1273 K. Radiation damage of the compound is preliminary studied by charged particle irradiation. Oxidation in air and the interaction with water vapor are evaluated. Thermal desorption of the deuterium is examined by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and thermal desorption spectrometry (TDS). Through these evaluations it seems that Be12Ti is superior as neutron multiplier with respect to pure Be metal.  相似文献
