The steady flow of a non-Newtonian fluid when slippage between the plate and the fluid occurs is considered. The constitutive equations of the fluid are modeled for a fourth-grade non-Newtonian fluid with partial slip; they give rise to nonlinear boundary value problems. Analytical solutions are obtained using powerful analytic techniques for solving nonlinear problems, homotopy perturbation and optimal homotopy asymptotic methods. The results obtained are compared with the numerical results and it is shown that solutions exist for all values of the non-Newtonian parameters. The solutions valid for the no-slip condition for all values of the non-Newtonian parameters can be derived as special cases of the present analysis. Finally the solutions are discussed using a graphical approach.  相似文献

Vertical handover gain significant importance due to the enhancements in mobility models by the Fourth Generation (4G) technologies. However, these enhancements are limited to specific scenarios and hence do not provide support for generic mobility. Similarly, various schemes are proposed based on these mobility models but most of them are suffered from the high packet loss, frequent handovers, too early and late handovers, inappropriate network selection, etc. To address these challenges, a generic vertical handover management scheme for heterogeneous wireless networks is proposed in this article. The proposed scheme works in three phases. In the first phase, a handover triggering approach is designed to identify the appropriate place for initiating handover based on the estimated coverage area of a WLAN access point or cellular base station. In the second phase, fuzzy rule based system is designed to eliminate the inappropriate networks before deciding an optimal network for handover. In the third phase, a network selection scheme is developed based on the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) decision mechanism. Various parameters such as delay, jitter, Bit Error Rate (BER), packet loss, communication cost, response time, and network load are considered for selecting an optimal network. The proposed scheme is tested in a mobility scenario with different speeds of a mobile node ranging from very low to very high. The simulation results are compared with the existing decision models used for network selection and handover triggering approaches. The proposed scheme outperforms these schemes in terms of energy consumption, handover delay and time, packet loss, good put, etc.  相似文献

Reliability analysis of TLP tethers under impulsive loading   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
In the present study, reliability assessment of Tension Leg Platform (TLP) tethers against maximum tension (i.e. tension exceeding yield) has been carried out under combined action of extreme wave and impulsive forces. For this purpose, a nonlinear dynamic analysis of TLP has been carried out in time domain. A limit state function for maximum tension (i.e. tension exceeding yield) has been derived employing Von-Mises theory of failure. Using this derived limit state function and responses obtained after dynamic analysis under sinusoidal, half-triangular and triangular impulsive forces, reliability assessment of the TLP tethers has been carried out. Design point, important for probabilistic design of tethers, has been located on the failure surface after solving a constrained optimization problem. To study the influence of various random variables on tether reliability, sensitivity analysis has been carried out. Effects of angle of impact; effect of variable submergence; and effect of material yield strength on tether reliability have also been studied on parametric basis. Effect of uncertainty on overall tether reliability has also been discussed to show the importance of quality control in the various design parameters.  相似文献

The present study presents a methodology for detailed reliability analysis of nuclear containment without metallic liners against aircraft crash. For this purpose, a nonlinear limit state function has been derived using violation of tolerable crack width as failure criterion. This criterion has been considered as failure criterion because radioactive radiations may come out if size of crack becomes more than the tolerable crack width. The derived limit state uses the response of containment that has been obtained from a detailed dynamic analysis of nuclear containment under an impact of a large size Boeing jet aircraft. Using this response in conjunction with limit state function, the reliabilities and probabilities of failures are obtained at a number of vulnerable locations employing an efficient first-order reliability method (FORM). These values of reliability and probability of failure at various vulnerable locations are then used for the estimation of conditional and annual reliabilities of nuclear containment as a function of its location from the airport. To study the influence of the various random variables on containment reliability the sensitivity analysis has been performed. Some parametric studies have also been included to obtain the results of field and academic interest.  相似文献

It is envisaged that the application of the multilevel security (MLS) scheme will enhance flexibility and effectiveness of authorization policies in shared enterprise databases and will replace cumbersome authorization enforcement practices through complicated view definitions on a per user basis. However, the critical problem with the current model is that the belief at a higher security level is cluttered with irrelevant or inconsistent data as no mechanism for attenuation is supported. Critics also argue that it is imperative for MLS database users to theorize about the belief of others, perhaps at different security levels, an apparatus that is currently missing and the absence of which is seriously felt.The impetus for our current research is the need to provide an adequate framework for belief reasoning in MLS databases. In this paper, we show that these concepts can be captured in a F-logic style declarative query language, called MultiLog, for MLS deductive databases for which a proof theoretic, model theoretic and fixpoint semantics exist. This development is significant from a database perspective as it now enables us to compute the semantics of MultiLog databases in a bottom-up fashion. We also define a bottom-up procedure to compute unique models of stratified MultiLog databases. Finally, we establish the equivalence of MultiLog's three logical characterizations—model theory, fixpoint theory and proof theory.  相似文献

Emotion recognition from speech signals is an interesting research with several applications like smart healthcare, autonomous voice response systems, assessing situational seriousness by caller affective state analysis in emergency centers, and other smart affective services. In this paper, we present a study of speech emotion recognition based on the features extracted from spectrograms using a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) with rectangular kernels. Typically, CNNs have square shaped kernels and pooling operators at various layers, which are suited for 2D image data. However, in case of spectrograms, the information is encoded in a slightly different manner. Time is represented along the x-axis and y-axis shows frequency of the speech signal, whereas, the amplitude is indicated by the intensity value in the spectrogram at a particular position. To analyze speech through spectrograms, we propose rectangular kernels of varying shapes and sizes, along with max pooling in rectangular neighborhoods, to extract discriminative features. The proposed scheme effectively learns discriminative features from speech spectrograms and performs better than many state-of-the-art techniques when evaluated its performance on Emo-DB and Korean speech dataset.

Preparation and Coordination Behaviour of 2-Acylmethylene-thiazolidines The reaction of 2,2-dichlorovinyl ketones with 2-aminoethanethiol in different solvents is described. The 2-acylmethylene-thiazolidines as the main products from this reaction are studied in view of their coordination tendency to divalent metal ions. The prepared neutral chelates with Cu2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Pd2+, Zn2+ have [N2O2] coordination, elucidated by analytical, spectroscopical and magnetochemical methods.  相似文献

A mind-body skills group program was evaluated to determine its effects on symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression, and on hopelessness in children and adolescents in Gaza. The 10-session mind-body skills groups included meditation, guided imagery, breathing techniques, autogenic training, biofeedback, genograms, and self-expression through words, drawings, and movement. Data were analyzed from 129 children and adolescents meeting criteria for PTSD. Significant improvements in PTSD and depression symptoms and a significant decrease in a sense of hopelessness were observed immediately following participation in the program. At 7-month follow-up, the improvements in the total PTSD and depression scores were largely maintained and the decreased sense of hopelessness was fully maintained despite ongoing violent conflict and economic hardship. Coatings made from neat vinyl ester and nanoclay reinforced vinyl ester composites are applied onto individual glass fibers as well as rovings to evaluate their barrier resistance against alkali and moisture attack. The fibers coated with clay nanocomposites present a significantly less damage caused by the diffusing alkali ions, giving rise to a much higher residual tensile strength after aging than the fibers without coating or those with a neat polymer coating. The static fatigue test performed on individual fibers verifies the advantage of using nanoclay composite to retard the corrosion process under the combined stress and alkaline environment. Similar beneficial effects of incorporating nanoclay on residual strength are identified for impregnated fiber bundles. The above observations confirm the excellent barrier characteristics of intercalated/exfoliated nanoclay in polymer that are applied in composite structures on both the microscopic and macroscopic scales.  相似文献

The paper presents a comparative analysis for algorithms that map pyramids onto hypercubes. The analysis is based on some important performance measures from graph theory and actual results from a Connection Machine system CM-2 containing 16K processors. Connection Machine results are presented for pyramid algorithms that compute the perimeter of objects, apply 2-dimensional convolution, and segment images.  相似文献
