A suitable testing technique is developed for evaluating the effect of weld residual stress on fracture toughness in the HAZ region of a reactor pressure vessel steel (SA533 Grade B, Class 1) and for investigating its susceptibility to reheat and underclad cracking or local embrittlement in the coarse-grained HAZs during post weld heat treatment. Use of a fracture mechanics approach leads to an interpretation of the effect of weld residual stress, tempering due to PWHT and notch acuity on the HAZ fracture toughness. This is applied to the estimation of COD transition temperature in the actual component of the reactor pressure vessel in terms of a summation of the various changes in the COD transition temperature associated with several factors such as weld residual stress, tempering, notch acuity and environment. Detailed comments are given on the determination of an allowable crack size in an actual component.  相似文献

An ultrasonic linear motor using ridge-mode traveling waves   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A new type of ultrasonic linear motor is presented using traveling waves excited along a ridge atop a substrate. The ridge cross section was designed to permit only the fundamental mode to be excited during operation of the motor, with a Langevin transducer used as the source of vibration in this study. The ridge waveguide was first made of lossy media to avoid reflecting vibration energy back toward the vibration source, forming a traveling wave. A 5-mm-wide, 15-mm-tall rectangular acrylic ridge was used to move a slider placed upon it toward the vibration source, in opposition to the direction of the traveling wave transmitted along the waveguide ridge. Using a low-loss 3 x 6-mm aluminum rectangular ridge combined with a damper clamped onto the far end of the waveguide, similar results were obtained. To obtain bidirectional operation, the damper was replaced with a second Langevin transducer, giving a pair of transducers located perpendicularly to the ends of the ridge and driven with an appropriate phase difference. The moving direction of the slider was reversed by shifting this phase difference by about 180 degrees. With this simple configuration, it may soon be possible to fabricate a linear micromotor system on a silicon substrate or other semiconductor wafer adjacent to other electronic and optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

Chromatin remodelling and histone-modifying complexes govern the modulation of chromatin structure. While components of these complexes are diverse, nuclear actin-related proteins (Arps) have been repeatedly found in these complexes from yeast to mammals. In most cases, Arps are required for functioning of the complexes, but the molecular mechanisms of nuclear Arps have as yet been largely unknown. The Arps and actin, sharing a common ancestor, are supposed to be highly similar in the three-dimensional structure of their core regions, including the ATP-binding pocket. The Arp Act3p/Arp4p of Saccharomyces cerevisiae exists within the nucleus, partly as a component of several high molecular mass complexes, including the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase (HAT) complex, and partly as uncomplexed molecules. We observed that mutations in the putative ATP-binding pocket of Act3p/Arp4p increased its concentration in the high molecular mass complexes and, conversely, that an excess of ATP or ATPgammaS led to the release of wild-type Act3p/Arp4p from the complexes. These results suggest a requirement of ATP binding by Act3p/Arp4p for its dissociation from the complexes. In accordance, a mutation in the putative ATP binding site of Act3p/Arp4p inhibited the conversion of the NuA4 complex into the smaller piccoloNuA4, which does not contain Act3p/Arp4p and exhibits HAT activity distinct from that of NuA4. Although the in vitro binding activity of ATP by recombinant Act3p/Arp4p was found to be rather weak, our observations, taken together, suggest that the ATP-binding pocket of Act3p/Arp4p is involved in the function of chromatin modulating complexes by regulating their dynamics.  相似文献

The deposition of chlorophyll-a monolayers onto an SnO2 optically transparent electrode was studied in relation to the deposition ratio. The values of the deposition ratio, which were approximately 0.95 for the upward movement and very small but non-zero for the downward movement, suggest that the multilayers prepared are Z-type films containing a small fraction of the Y-type component corresponding to the non-zero value. This is consistent with the photo- electrochemical behaviour of the pigmented electrodes which is markedly dependent on the deposition ratios, indicating structural inhomogeneity or imperfection of the multilayers.  相似文献

Although in Japan the number of casualties from road traffic accidents decreased substantially during a period of improvement of safety measures, in recent years it has remained rather constant. To decrease accidents still further it is necessary to investigate the circumstances of road traffic accidents and the severity of resulting casualties in detail. For this purpose 167,721 cases of road traffic accident casualties occurring between February and April 1979, throughout Japan were analyzed. (1) It was found that 74.2% of all the cases suffered injuries corresponding to AIS-1; 30% of these involved neck injuries. (2) There were 2,654 fatal cases, 67% of which involved head injuries, chiefly cerebral contusion, cranial base fracture, and intracranial hemorrhage. There were fatal cases in the categories of AIS-3 or below which are generally considered not fatal, but those were due to complications. (3) The chief sites of injury varied according to the victim's mode of transport: in an automobile the neck was the site most frequently injured; on a motorcycle the legs and head were usually involved; on a bicycle or walking the head and legs were most at risk. (4) Injuries to pedestrians often fell under the severer AIS-4 or higher codes and constituted 43% of total deaths. (5) Accidents with automobiles changing lanes tended to cause serious injuries and many deaths. Other characteristics of road traffic accidents in Japan are analyzed and discussed.  相似文献
