The reductive dehalogenation of CCl4, CHCl3, CH2Cl2 and CH3Cl has been investigated by cyclic voltammetry and controlled-potential electrolysis at Ag, glassy carbon (GC) and graphite electrodes in dimethylformamide (DMF) + 0.1 M Et4NClO4 in the absence and presence of a proton donor. In particular, the study was focused in the evaluation of the intermediates and final products of the reduction process and how their distribution could be affected by tuning relevant chemical and electrochemical parameters. In general, depending on the value of the applied potential, all polychloromethanes (PCMs) can be partially or completely dechlorinated, methane being exclusively formed in the latter case. The nature of the electrode material and the proton availability of the medium affect drastically the distribution of reduction products. The results point out that at both types of electrode, reduction of PCMs takes place through two competing reaction pathways both leading to methane. One reaction route involves a sequence of reductive dehalogenation steps, with the removal of one chlorine atom at a time, whereas the other is based on hydrogenolysis of carbenes and bypasses the intermediacy of partially dechlorinated PCMs. The presence of a proton source affects substantially the hydrodehalogenation efficiency, enhancing the concentration of intermediate PCMs and the final yield of methane. The silver electrode exhibits an extraordinary electrocatalytic effect resulting in remarkable positive shifts of the reduction potentials of all PCMs with respect to GC. The Ag surface strongly affects the kinetics of the dissociative electron transfer to CHnCl(4−n) (n = 0–3) as well as the reactivity of the intermediate radicals, carbanions and carbenes.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: Although the molecular mechanism of obesity has been poorly understood, recent studies indicate that leptin plays a critical role in regulating both food intake and body weight. Because obesity decreases the sensitivity to insulin, the human ob gene is presumed to be one of the candidate genes for non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) associated with obesity. Although the protein coding region in the ob gene has been screened for mutations, the promoter region and the non-coding first exon have not yet been studied. We investigated the involvement of the human ob gene, especially mutations at the promoter region and the non-coding first exon, in the development of NIDDM associated with obesity. SUBJECTS: The study group comprised 60 Japanese obese subjects with NIDDM (body mass index (BMI) 43.6 > or = BMI > or = 26.4, 29.0+/-0.41 (mean+/-S.E.M.)) and 24 obese individuals with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) (30 > or = BMI > or = 26.4, 27.1+/-0.22). METHODS: Mutations at both the promoter region and all three exons in the human ob gene were screened by the single-stranded conformational polymorphism analysis. When aberrantly migrated bands were recognized, the PCR-amplified DNA fragment was directly sequenced. RESULTS: In the protein coding region a silent mutation in the second exon was detected. The non-coding first exon and the about 100 bp 5'-flanking region of the gene which contains a proximal CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein site were screened, but no mutations were found. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that no mutations in either the promoter region at the about 100 bp 5'-flanking region of the gene, or in any of the three exons, are involved in the development of NIDDM or IGT associated with obesity.  相似文献

In this paper we propose an object-triggered human memory augmentation system named “Ubiquitous Memories” that enables a user to directly associate his/her experience data with physical objects by using a “touching” operation. A user conceptually encloses his/her experiences gathered through sense organs into physical objects by simply touching an object. The user can also disclose and re-experience for himself/herself the experiences accumulated in an object by the same operation. We implemented a prototype system composed basically of a radio frequency identification (RFID) device. Physical objects are also attached to RFID tags. We conducted two experiments. The first experiment confirms a succession of the “encoding specificity principle,” which is well known in the research field of psychology, to the Ubiquitous Memories system. The second experiment aims at a clarification of the system’s characteristics by comparing the system with other memory externalization strategies. The results show the Ubiquitous Memories system is effective for supporting memorization and recollection of contextual events.  相似文献

The viscosity lowering of toluene solutions of isobutylene-isoprene rubber, polyisobutylene, and ethylene-propylene rubber in the reaction with dicumyl peroxide was investigated. By using the kinetic equations for the reaction of rubber with peroxide which had been derived previously by KIRIYAMA et al. the results of the experiments are discussed.  相似文献

Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films composed from chromophore-containing ammonium amphiphiles, water-soluble anionic polymers and anionic fluorescence dyes are prepared. The adsorption behaviour of dye molecules to the LB films is discussed in terms of concentration and chemical structure. Efficient energy transfer from amphiphilic chromophores to the adsorbed dyes is observed.  相似文献

The nitroimidazole-related hypoxic radiosensitizer, pimonidazole (Pmz) was encapsulated in liposome composed of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine, cholesterol and dipalmitoylphosphatidylglycerol (molar ratio = 1:1:0.2; diameter = 112.9 nm), and the radiosensitization was evaluated in human melanoma cells HMV-II. Cell proliferation was examined by WST-8 assay after X-ray irradiation in the presence of liposomal Pmz or free-Pmz under hypoxic conditions. On 7th day after X-ray irradiation of 5 Gy, cell proliferation decreased more markedly in the administration of liposomal Pmz than free-Pmz at equivalent Pmz doses. Chromatin fragmentation or nuclear condensation was observed in liposomal Pmz-treated HMV-II cells. Radiosensitization was enhanced dose-dependently along with Pmz amounts of 250-2000 microM contained in liposomal Pmz. Intracellular uptake was more abundant for liposomal Pmz for 60-240 min than for free-Pmz. Thus liposomal Pmz has a potential to overcome radiation resistance in hypoxia, owing to enhanced intracellular uptake by melanoma cells.  相似文献

The photoassisted degradation (HPLC-UV absorption), dehalogenation (HPLC-IC) and mineralization (TOC decay) of the flame retardants tetrabromobisphenol-A (TBBPA) and tetrachlorobisphenol-A (TCBPA) were examined in UV-irradiated alkaline aqueous TiO2 dispersions (pH 12), and for comparison the parent bisphenol-A (BPA, an endocrine disruptor) in pH 4–12 aqueous media to assess which factor impact most on the photodegradative process. Complete degradation (2.7–2.8 × 10−2 min−1) and dehalogenation (1.8 × 10−2 min−1) of TBBPA and TCBPA occurred within 2 h of UV irradiation, whereas only 45–60% mineralization (2.3–2.7 × 10−3 min−1) was complete within 5 h for the flame retardants at pH 12 and ca. 80% for the parent BPA. Factors examined in the pH range 4–12 that impact the degradation of BPA were the point of zero charge of TiO2 particles (pHpzc; electrophoretic method), particle or aggregate sizes of TiO2 (light scattering), and the relative number of OH radicals (as DMPO–OH adducts; ESR spectroscopy) produced in the UV-irradiated dispersion. Dynamics of BPA degradation (2.0–2.4 × 10−2 min−1) were pH-independent and independent of particle/aggregate size, but did correlate with the number of OH radicals, at least at pHs 4 to 8–9, after which the rates decreased somewhat at pH > 9 with decreasing adsorption owing to Coulombic repulsive forces between the very negative TiO2 surface and the anionic forms of BPA (pKas ca. 9.6–11.3), even though the number of OH radicals continued to increase at the higher pHs.  相似文献
