Cutaneous wounds are often superinfected during the healing process and this leads to prolonged convalescence and discomfort. Usage of suitable wound dressings is very important for an appropriate wound care leading to a correct healing. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the influence of a nano-coated wound dressing (WD) on Candida albicans colonization rate and biofilm formation. The modified WD was achieved by submerging the dressing pieces into a nanofluid composed of functionalized magnetite nanoparticles and Satureja hortensis (SO) essential oil (EO). Chemical composition of the EO was established by GC-MS. The fabricated nanostructure was characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR). The analysis of the colonized surfaces using (Scanning Electron Microscopy) SEM revealed that C. albicans adherence and subsequent biofilm development are strongly inhibited on the surface of wound dressing fibers coated with the obtained nanofluid, comparing with regular uncoated materials. The results were also confirmed by the assay of the viable fungal cells embedded in the biofilm. Our data demonstrate that the obtained phytonanocoating improve the resistance of wound dressing surface to C. albicans colonization, which is often an etiological cause of local infections, impairing the appropriate wound healing.  相似文献

New pyrazole derivatives were designed and synthesized as potential protein kinase inhibitors in the view to develop specific antitumor therapies. The structures of the compounds were elucidated using spectral and elemental analyses. The antitumor potential was estimated using wheat seeds and the general toxicity was evaluated by alternative methods, using invertebrate animals. In this study, the effect of macromolecular chain‐branching on poly(lactic acid) (PLA) rheology, crystallization, and extrusion foaming was investigated. Two PLA grades, an amorphous and a semi‐crystalline one, were branched using a multifunctional styrene‐acrylic‐epoxy copolymer. The branching of PLA and its foaming were achieved in one‐step extrusion process. Carbon dioxide (CO2), in concentration up to 9%, was used as expansion agent to obtain foams from the two PLA branched using chain‐extender contents up to 2%. The foams were investigated with respect to their shear and elongational behavior, crystallinity, morphology, and density. The addition of the chain‐extender led to an increase in complex viscosity, elasticity, elongational viscosity, and in the manifestation of the strain‐hardening phenomena. Low‐density foams were obtained at 5–9% CO2 for semi‐crystalline PLA and only at 9% CO2 in the case of the amorphous PLA. Differences in foaming behavior were attributed to crystallites formation during the foaming process. The rheological and structural changes associated with PLA chain‐extension lowered the achieved crystallinity but slightly improved the foamability at low CO2 content. POLYM. ENG. Highly thermostable low-k polymer films with potential applications as dielectric materials in microelectronic industry were synthesized starting from 9,9-bis[4-(3,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)phenyl]fluorene dianhydride and various diamines. A polyetherimide/silica nanocomposite film was obtained using methyltriethoxysilane as precursor of inorganic phase. The chemical structure was confirmed by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Water vapor's sorption capacity, thermal stability, glass transition temperature, thermal diffusivity, specific heat, thermal conductivity, and dielectric characteristics of the films were determined. All the films exhibited excellent thermal stability, with an initial decomposition temperature in the range of 500–530°C. They showed low dielectric constant of 1.98–2.86 and low dielectric loss of 0.0037–0.011, at a frequency of 1 Hz and room temperature. The subglass γ- and β-relaxations, primary α-relaxation, and conductivity relaxation processes were discussed according to the chemical structure of the samples. Quantitative structure–property relationship (QSPR) study was conducted, and linear regression models were formulated to describe the causal relationships between different parameters and polyetherimide properties.  相似文献

The aricle presents the results of a research performed in order to establish whether drying lumber from frozen state (in winter) has repercussions upon its properties, compared to drying under the same conditions lumber parts originating from the same log and position within the log section but that were not frozen prior to drying. To this purpose, spruce (Picea abies L.) lumber specimens, 35 mm and 55 mm thick, cut from the same log, half frozen at - 30°C and half unfrozen, were dried under the same conditions in a climate chamber. Some mechanical properties (hardness, bending strength, and modulus elasticity in static bending), as well as workability (expressed by means of the absorbed power and specific resistance to cutting during milling), were determined The results revealed slight differences between the frozen and the unfrozen samples both during the drying process and afterwards. It was noticed that a significant amount of water was removed from wood during the very beginning of the heating phase (thawing). With regards to wood properties after drying, a slight lowering of the mechanical properties and better workability could be established for the initially frozen samples.  相似文献

We present two methods for efficiently sampling the response (trajectory space) of multibody systems operating under spatial uncertainty, when the latter is assumed to be representable with Gaussian processes. In this case, the dynamics (time evolution) of the multibody systems depends on spatially indexed uncertain parameters that span infinite‐dimensional spaces. This places a heavy computational burden on existing methodologies, an issue addressed herein with two new conditional sampling approaches. When a single instance of the uncertainty is needed in the entire domain, we use a fast Fourier transform technique. When the initial conditions are fixed and the path distribution of the dynamical system is relatively narrow, we use an incremental sampling approach that is fast and has a small memory footprint. Both methods produce the same distributions as the widely used Cholesky‐based approaches.
