In this paper, a robust adaptive terminal sliding mode controller is developed for n-link rigid robotic manipulators with uncertain dynamics. An MIMO terminal sliding mode is defined for the error dynamics of a closed loop robot control system, and an adaptive mechanism is introduced to estimate the unknown parameters of the upper bounds of system uncertainties in the Lyapunov sense. The estimates are then used as controller parameters so that the effects of uncertain dynamics can be eliminated and a finite time error convergence in the terminal sliding mode can be guaranteed. Also, a useful bounded property of the derivative of the inertial matrix is explored, the convergence rate of the terminal sliding variable vector is investigated, and an experiment using a five bar robotic manipulator is carried out in support of the proposed control scheme. 相似文献

Predicting Forest Age Classes from High Spatial Resolution Remotely Sensed Imagery Using Voronoi Polygon Aggregation 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Efficient identification of forest age is useful for forest management and ecological applications. Here we propose a user-assisted method for determining forest age using high spatial resolution remotely sensed imagery. This method requires individual trees to be extracted from imagery and represented as points. We use a local maximum filter to generate points that are converted to Voronoi polygons. Properties of the Voronoi polygons are correlated with forest age and used to aggregate points (trees) into areas (stands) based on three forest age classes. Accuracy of the aggregation ranges from approximately 68% to 78% and identification of the mature class is more consistent and accurate than the younger classes. 相似文献

The Enigma Machine is a complex electromechanical device used by the Germans in World War II to achieve what they thought was complete communications security. While the original machine weighed over 20?lbs, the central mechanics of the machine can be simulated manually by manipulating strips of paper. A Paper Enigma is presented that can be cut out of a single sheet of paper. The resulting simulator is compatible with the electromechanical original in that messages can be encoded on one, and decoded on the other. Past research has extensively investigated the effect of media, especially focusing on how anonymity increases risk-related behaviors of groups when using computer-mediated communication (CMC). This study extends prior research by examining the differences in group risk-taking behaviors between face-to-face groups and completely non-anonymous CMC groups (i.e., groups working in a fully identified, synchronous CMC environment similar to popular instant messaging systems utilized widely within organizations). Drawing on the “decision analysis” perspective, a key framework for understanding organizational decision-making, the study also examines the effects of the firm's risk preferences as well as the type of information distribution among group members (i.e., full information known to all group members versus partial information know by only some of the members) on the groups' risk-taking behaviors. Results from a laboratory experiment using student subjects found no differences in risk-taking behaviors between CMC and face-to-face groups; additionally, no differences were found related to how information was distributed among group members. A significant effect was found, however, for the risk preference of the firm, showing that risk-neutral firms influenced groups to make riskier decisions than groups from risk-averse firms. Finally, groups within risk-neutral firms receiving partial information made riskier decisions than groups receiving full information. e-Government systems differ from commercial information systems (IS) in that they frequently encompass strategic goals that go beyond efficiency, effectiveness and economy, and include political and social objectives such as trust in government, social inclusion, community regeneration, community well-being and sustainability. Designing e-Government systems that help to meet these objectives is a significant challenge for the future. This paper develops an evaluative design framework for e-Government projects that complements traditional approaches to IS evaluation. The framework is based upon Moor's concept of public value. It focuses upon citizens' and clients' experiences of service provision and service outcomes as contributors to the formation of public trust. Trust is shown to be related to the extent to which people feel that an e-Government service enhances their sense of being well-informed, gives them greater personal control, and provides them with a sense of influence or contingency. We discuss the calculus of variations in tensor representations with a special focus on tensor networks and apply it to functionals of practical interest. The survey provides all necessary ingredients for applying minimization methods in a general setting. The important cases of target functionals which are linear and quadratic with respect to the tensor product are discussed, and combinations of these functionals are presented in detail. As an example, we consider the representation rank compression in tensor networks. For the numerical treatment, we use the nonlinear block Gauss?CSeidel method. Recombinant approaches for tapping into the biodiversity present in nature for the discovery of novel enzymes and biosynthetic pathways can result in large gene libraries. Likewise, laboratory evolution techniques can result in large but potentially valuable libraries. Thorough screening of these libraries requires ultra high-throughput methods. The GigaMatrix™ screening platform addresses this opportunity using reusable high-density plates with 100,000 to 1,000,000 through-hole wells in a microplate footprint. In addition to throughputs of over 107 wells per day, the platform offers a significant reduction in reagent use and waste, has fully integrated automated “cherry picking,” and uses no complicated dispensing equipment. Wells containing putative hits from targeted fluorescent liquid phase assays are revealed by a fluorescent imaging system. Vision-guided robotics are utilized to recover hits by accessing individual 200 μm and smaller wells with a disposable sterile needle. The GigaMatrix platform has proven to be an effective and efficient tool for screening gene libraries for both discovery and evolution applications. 相似文献

This paper examines the factors and theoretical frameworks for the adoption of technology for older adults, and proposes two models of technology acceptance and rejection, one from an ease of learning perspective, and one from a system and user perspective. Both models are supported from reports on two case studies of older adults using handheld touchscreen tablet devices; one in which the participants are supported during tasks primarily related to walking and navigation, and one in which participants are unsupported in communication related tasks. The first study shows the powerful role that facilitating conditions have for learning how to use digital technologies for this user group, whether supporting through step by step guidance, providing a friendly space to use trial and error methods, and/or provision of a manual. The second study shows the pitfalls of a lack of facilitating conditions during initial use, and highlights potential for appropriate design in helping to avoid some user errors during this phase. 相似文献

A nonlinear predictive generalised minimum variance control algorithm is introduced for the control of nonlinear discrete-time multivariable systems. The plant model is represented by the combination of a very general nonlinear operator and also a linear subsystem which can be open-loop unstable and is represented in state-space model form. The multi-step predictive control cost index to be minimised involves both weighted error and control signal costing terms. The solution for the control law is derived in the time domain using a general operator representation of the process. The controller includes an internal model of the nonlinear process, but because of the assumed structure of the system, the state observer is only required to be linear. In the asymptotic case, where the plant is linear, the controller reduces to a state-space version of the well-known GPC controller. 相似文献

A digital relief model (DRM) of the Swan Coastal Plain and Rottnest Shelf (7400 km2) was built with a range of topographic and high-resolution bathymetric datasets, gridded to a 50 m cell size. The DRM enabled the delineation of relict coastal landforms, benthic habitats and development of a regional morphostratigraphic framework. Well-defined features include: (1) limestone ridges on the coastal plain that sit subparallel to the modern shoreline and were largely formed as coastal dune barriers during or shortly after Quaternary interglacial periods of high sea level; (2) rocky reefs on the inner shelf that rise up to 10 m above the adjacent seafloor, which are remnants of coastal dune barriers that formed when the sea level was 20–30 m lower than present and (3) a discontinuous ridge 3–10 m high along much of the outer shelf, which likely represents a coastal barrier that formed when the sea level was around 60 m lower than present. The DRM provides a useful regional perspective of the distribution and form of these extensive reefs. 相似文献
