Drawing on concepts from theories on persuasion, social psychology, and philosophy of language, this article presents the design of an ambient persuasive system that acts as an automatic facilitator by supporting a balanced flow of communication in group conversational activity. The system includes two main components: (a) a context-awareness system that monitors group member non-verbal behavior, and (b) a visualization component that promotes balanced participation, providing targeted directives to participants through peripheral displays. In two empirical studies, a strategy for influencing participant social dynamics based on subtle directives in the form of aesthetically pleasant visual animations was assessed. The findings provide insight on the effect, the acceptability, and the perceived influence of subtle peripheral persuasive messages for ambient displays. The studies indicate that when the participants understand the message intention, the subtle directives have a positive influence on group behavior, and are considered more appealing and less intrusive than overt, language-based messages. Furthermore, it was found that personality traits influenced attitudes towards the system. 相似文献

Catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO) of aniline, phenol, carboxylic acids and ammonia was carried out in a batch reactor over noble metals (Ru, Pd, Pt) supported on ceria. Ruthenium is very active for the conversion of a wide range of organic compounds and selective into carbon dioxide. The ability of ceria to transfer oxygen is essential for good performances in CWAO. However, Ru/CeO2 is not selective for ammonia oxidation into N2. Addition of small amount of Pd enhances both activity and selectivity of Ru in this reaction. Finally, oxidation of nitrogenous organic compounds requires moderate temperature and oxygen pressure and needs to adjust the oxidizing capacity of the catalyst. 相似文献

The formation of a disulfide bond between adjacent cysteineresidues is accompanied by the formation of a tight turn ofthe protein backbone. In nearly 90% of the structures analyzeda type VIII turn was found. The peptide bond between the twocysteines is in a distorted trans conformation, the omega torsionangle ranges from 159 to 133°, with an average valueof 171°. The constrained nature of the vicinal disulfideturn and the pronounced difference observed between the oxidizedand reduced states, suggests that vicinal disulfides may beemployed as a redox-activated conformational switch. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and yeasts were selected on the basis of in vitro proteolytic activity against wheat gluten protein and then assayed as leavening agents for pizza dough. Trials were carried out to compare a proteolytic starter (Prt(+)), consisting of Lactobacillus sakei T56, Weissella paramesenteroides A51 and Candida krusei G271, and a non-proteolytic starter (Prt(-)), consisting of Lb. sakei T58, W. paramesenteroides A58 and Saccharomyces cerevisiae T22. The proteolytic activity of the starter cultures was monitored immediately after mixing of the dough and throughout the fermentation process. The proteolytic activity was assessed by analysing the salt-soluble protein (SSP) and the dioxane-soluble protein (DSP) fractions of the pizza dough by discontinuous SDS-PAGE. Only the Prt(+) starter exhibited considerable qualitative and quantitative changes in the electrophoretic patterns of the protein fractions extracted. After the fermentation, the Prt(+) and Prt(-) doughs were tested to evaluate the influence of the proteolytic activity on the mechanical properties of the dough before and after baking. Indications emerged suggesting an influence of the proteolytic activity on the viscoelasticity of pizza dough. The pizza dough with Prt(+) strains showed an increase in viscous properties during the fermentation as compared with the Prt(-) dough. Moreover, an increase in the firmness of the crumb was observed in Prt(+) baked pizza dough. 相似文献

The Neutral Beam Test Facility, which will be built in Padova, Italy, is aimed at developing the ITER heating neutral beam injector (HNB) and at testing and optimizing its operation up to nominal performance before installation on ITER. It requires the development of two independent experiments referred to as SPIDER (source for production of ions of deuterium extracted from Rf plasma) and MITICA (megavolt ITer injector & concept advancement). SPIDER will explore the full-size negative ion source for ITER, whereas MITICA will explore the full-size ITER neutral beam injector. Both experiments will be designed for long-pulse operation, up to 3600 s, as ITER itself. MITICA includes three functional components: the heating neutral beam injector plant system (HNB), which is the device under test; the auxiliary plant system (AUX), which includes all equipment to operate the HNB in the test facility (e.g. the local electric grid to feed the HNB power supplies), and MITICA supervisory system that is an electronics/informatics infrastructure to operate the facility. The paper introduces the requirements for the control and data acquisition systems of the experiments and proposes a preliminary design for both systems. SPIDER, which is preparatory to MITICA and will be developed on a shorter time scale, has no constraints coming from ITER CODAC, whereas MITICA includes the ITER neutral beam injector and therefore must be fully compatible with ITER CODAC. 相似文献

In the framework of the strategy for the development and the procurement of the NB systems for ITER, it has been decided to build in Padova a test facility, including two experimental devices: a full size plasma source with low voltage extraction and a full size NB injector at full beam power (1 MV). These two different devices will separately address the main scientific and technological issues of the 17 MW NB injector for ITER. In particular the full size plasma source of negative ions will address the ITER performance requirements in terms of current density and uniformity, limitation of the electron/ion ratio and stationary operation at full current with high reliability and constant performances for the whole operating time up to 1 h. The required negative ion current density to be extracted from the plasma source ranges from 290 A/m2 in D2 (D?) and 350 A/m2 in H2 (H?) and these values should be obtained at the lowest admissible neutral pressure in the plasma source volume, nominally at 0.3 Pa. The electron to ion ratio should be limited to less than 1 and the admissible ion inhomogeneity extracted from the grids should be better than 10% on the whole plasma cross-section having a surface exposed to the extraction grid of the order of 1 m2.The main design choices will be presented in the paper as well as an overview of the design of the main components and systems. 相似文献

Co-promoted MoS2/Al2O3 is the industrial-widely used catalyst for hydrogen production by water-gas shift (WGS) reaction under sulfur-containing condition. Despite of the intensive physicochemical characterizations, the intrinsic activities of Co-promoted and unprompted sites on this catalyst are still unreported, mainly owning to the lack of quantification method of catalytic sulfide sites. With low temperature CO adsorption followed by IR spectroscopy, a distinguish technique developed by our group, this short communication reports the temperature-dependent TOFs (turnover frequencies) of these two sites, and reveals that Co-promoted site is intrinsically much more active than unprompted site at low temperatures, while these two sites are catalytically comparable at higher reaction temperatures. The catalytically different performances are related to the different apparent activation energies of WGS reaction on these two sites. This work fills in the long-standing gaps in hydrogen production by WGS reaction over sulfided CoMo/Al2O3 catalyst. 相似文献
