In order to investigate the relationship between various temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain levels and the detection of high signal intensity (joint effusion) on T2 weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), 19 consecutive patients who complained of unilateral painful TMJ hypomobility (closed locking) were involved in this study. All patients were clinically examined in a routine manner, and all patients rated their pain levels by a visual analogue scale and eight pain questionnaire prior MRI study. T1 and T2 weighted MRI was taken in sagittal section at unilateral affected joint side. The presence or absence of a high signal intensity spot within the TMJ compartment were judged by three examiners. The high signal intensity was detected in 10 joints, but not in 9 joints. In between these two groups, the pain ratio was calculated and compared. The data showed that there was no significant statistical correlation between pain levels and the presence of high signals. This study disclosed that the MRI detection of high signal intensity in the closed locking TMJ did not directly relate to the presence of TMJ pain nor the increased pain level. These indicate the need of further larger studies.  相似文献

Caught between the successes of modern psychopharmacology, the requests of suffering patients for quick relief, and the shortsightedness of many third-party payers, psychodynamic psychotherapy might seem to be on the ropes. It is, however, thriving and providing crucial help to many individuals for whom medication and brief counseling are insufficient. Meanwhile, many more who could benefit from psychotherapy do not have an opportunity to do so. Although psychodynamic psychotherapy originated and developed within a medical framework, it has minimal visibility on the current medical scene, and many physicians have been provided with little meaningful information about it. This article is intended to give physicians a general idea of what psychodynamic psychotherapy is and how it works.  相似文献

We applied fluorescent microscopy to monitor the damage of DNA upon exposure to gamma radiation. Our developed dosimetry demonstrated that the number of breaks in DNA is proportional to the dose of the irradiation but is not dependent on dose rate of the irradiation and the GC content of DNA.  相似文献

Fluorescent molecular thermometers based on polymers showing a temperature-induced phase transition and labeled with polarity-sensitive fluorescent benzofurazans are the most sensitive known. Here we show a simple and effective method for modulating the sensitive temperature ranges of fluorescent molecular thermometers based on such temperature-responsive polymers. 4-N-(2-acryloyloxyethyl)-N-methylamino-7-N,N-dimethylaminosulfonyl-2,1,3-benzoxadiazole was adopted as a polarity-sensitive fluorescent benzofurazan, and nine copolymers of two kinds of acrylamide derivative (N-n-propylacrylamide, N-isopropylacrylamide, and/or N-isopropylmethacrylamide) with a small amount of DBD-AE were obtained. The fluorescence intensities of these copolymers in aqueous solution sharply increased with increasing temperature over a small range (6-7 degrees C). In contrast, these fluorescent molecular thermometers differed from one another in the sensitive temperature range (between 20 and 49 degrees C). Moreover, the sensitive temperature ranges were well related to the acrylamide ratios in feed. In addition, the responses from these fluorescent molecular thermometers to the change in temperature were reversible and exactly repeatable during 10 cycles of heating and cooling (relative standard deviation of the fluorescence intensity, 0.44-1.0%).  相似文献

Here we report a design and synthesis of a chemically functional polymer membrane by an interfacial polycondensation reaction and multilayer flow inside a microchannel. Single and parallel dual-membrane structures are successfully prepared by using organic/aqueous two-layer flow and organic/aqueous/organic three-layer flow inside the microchannel followed by an interfacial polycondensation reaction. By using the inner-channel membrane, permeation of ammonia species through the inner-channel membrane is successfully achieved. Furthermore, horseradish peroxidase is immobilized on one side of the membrane surface to integrate the chemical transform function onto the inner-channel membrane. Here substrate permeation through the membrane and subsequent chemical transformation at the membrane surface are realized. The polymer membrane prepared inside the microchannel has an important role in ensuring stable contact of different phases such as gas/liquid or liquid/ liquid and the permeation of chemical species through the membrane. Furthermore, membrane surface modification chemistry allows chemical transformation of permeated chemical species. These methods are expected to lead to development of complicated and sophisticated chemical systems involving membrane permeation and chemical reactions.  相似文献

During the course of our studies of the development of fluorogenic reagents having a 4,7-disubstituted benzofurazan structure, we previously proposed 7-acetylamino-4-mercapto-2,1,3-benzoxadiazole (AABD-SH) as a fluorogenic reagent for carboxylic acids. Since then, progress has made it possible to estimate the fluorescence quantum yields of the 4,7-disubstituted benzofurazan compounds on the basis of the PM3 calculation of their S1-T2 energies. Subsequently, a new fluorogenic reagent, 4-mercapto-7-methylthio-2,1,3-benzoxadiazole (MTBDSH) was designed and synthesized. In the presence of condensation reagents, triphenylphosphine (TPP) and 2,2'-dipyridyl disulfide (DPDS), MTBD-SH readily reacted with n-caprylic acid within 1 min at room temperature. The derivatives of five carboxylic acids (n-caprylic acid, n-capric acid, lauric acid, myristic acid, and palmitic acid) were well-separated on a reversed-phase column and were fluorimetrically detected at 519 nm with excitation at 391 nm. The detection limits (S/N = 3) were 2.4-5.0 fmol. Thus, MTBD-SH had properties that were considered to be superior. For carboxylic acids, itwas superior not only to AABD-SH, but also to many other conventional reagents. The superiority was examined in terms of its reactivity and sensitivity and the avoidance of interfering peaks that were derived from the reagent itself or degradation products in the chromatogram.  相似文献

Soil salinity is a global environmental problem and the most widespread land degradation problem that reduces crop yields and agricultural productivity. The characteristic of soil salinity is conventionally measured by the electric conductivity (EC) of soil while remote-sensing techniques have been extensively applied to detect the presence of salts indirectly through the vegetation using crop spectral reflectance. This study aims primarily to investigate whether salt stress the rice can be detected by field reflectance or not, and second, to search the significant bands of vegetation indices that can indicate the relationships between the EC of soil and field hyperspectral reflectance of canopy, grain, and leaf of rice, using the normalized difference spectral index (NDSI). Field investigations on various paddy fields in northeastern Thailand were carried out in late November 2010 during the ripening season just before harvest in an attempt to realize the applications of the field hyperspectral technique for monitoring the spread of saline soils and estimation of the effects of soil salinity on rice plants. Jasmine rice and glutinous rice were two different rice species selected for this study. Rice plant investigations were conducted by collecting data on crop length, panicle length, canopy openness, leaf area index, and digital photographs of plant conditions from each site. The statistical analysis revealed that the changes in soil EC were significantly sensitive to the ripening stages of both jasmine rice and glutinous rice planted on different levels of soil salinity. Among reflectance measurements, canopy reflectance was highly correlated with soil EC. However, the estimated accuracies of the relationship between soil EC and reflectance of glutinous rice were relatively lower than those of jasmine rice.  相似文献

A new method for the simultaneous determination of ozone and carbonyls in air using a two-bed cartridge system has been developed. Each bed consists of reagent-impregnated silica particles. The first contains trans-1,2-bis-(4-pyridyl) ethylene (BPE) while the second contains 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH). Air samples are drawn through the cartridge first through the BPE and then through the DNPH. Ozone in the air sample is trapped in the first bed by the BPE-coated silica particles and produce pyridine-4-aldehyde. Airborne carbonyls pass unimpeded thorough the BPE and are trapped in the second bed by the DNPH-coated silica particles. They produce carbonyl 2,4-DNPhydrazones. DNPH and carbonyl 2,4-DNPhydrazones are not influenced by ozone because of effective trapping by the BPE. Extraction is performed in the direction reverse to air sampling. When solvent is eluted through the BEP/DNPH cartridge, excess DNPH is washed into the BPE bed where it reacted with pyridine-4-aldehyde and forms the corresponding hydrazone derivative. All of the hydrazones derived from airborne carbonyls and pyridine-4-aldehyde (derived from ozone) are completely separated and measured using high-performance liquid chromatography. An Ascentis RP-Amide column is used, and the mobile phase is 40% aqueous acetonitrile containing 2 mmol/L ammonium acetate. The use of a BPE/DNPH cartridge has made possible the simultaneous determination of ozone and carbonyls. A separate ozone scrubber is not necessary with the BPE/DNPH cartridge because the BPE portion of the sampler serves this function.  相似文献

Dynamic properties of bubble domains at low drive pulse field are examined by the bubble transport method. Important findings are as follows. 1) The bubble does not move unless the pulse duration exceeds a critical value which depends on the pulse amplitude. 2) A minimum pulse amplitude is also required for the bubble translation which depends on the pulse duration. 3) As the pulse duration goes to infinity, the minimum drive field approaches a constant value which is different from the dynamic coercivity. 4) As soon as the pulse duration exceeds the critical value, the bubble is displaced discontinuously by a finite distance independent of the drive field. All of these properties are adequately explained by a simple phenomenological theory, in which the domain wall is assumed to be connected by springs to pinning sites until the wall is displaced by a finite distance.  相似文献
