Inductively coupled radio frequency plasmas are gradually becoming an important source of high-temperature and high-reactivity plasmas for processing new functional materials or for removal of unwanted substances. Spatially wider plasmas are required for higher rate, more uniform processing in the future. Although low MHz frequencies have been usually used for induction plasmas, an attempt to expand the high temperature plasma fields was made by superimposing lower frequency 50-kHz magnetic fields on the DC plasma discharge to obtain a small source plasma. Because the penetration depth in such a low frequency field is as long as a few hundred mm, a larger radius plasma can be expected. As a first step, we have investigated the operating conditions under which a stable low frequency plasma is generated, based on theoretical calculations that include the time dependent rate equations for heat transfer and fluid flow in conjunction with the Maxwell electro-magnetic equations. Results showed that the minimum necessary power for expanding a small DC plasma to a wider plasma 100 mm in diameter by applying a 50-kHz magnetic field, is about 130 kW at 0. 1-MPa pressure. This power level is recognized to be within the available range in existing high-power oscillator systems. Measurements were carried out of the time variation of the spectral emission from the plasma immediately after superimposing the 50-kHz magnetic field upon a small area plasma generated with DC power of 1.5 kW at a pressure of 0.01 MPa in Ar gas. At a low power level of about 60 kW, the small plasma starts to expand in the radial direction, and finally, converges to a new wider plasma with 100 mm diameter. FFT analysis of the oscillograph showed that during the transient state, a period fluctuation in light emission occurs at a few tens of Hz reflecting the thermal time constant of a few tens of ms, besides the power frequency of 41.7 kHz. The plasma temperature was estimated by using the spectroscopic line intensities from neutral Ar atoms, as between 8,000 and 11,000 K. Review of X-ray dark-field imaging under development is presented. Its goal is its application to clini-cal diagnosis of organs that have been invisible by the ordinary techniques. In order to clinically visualize tissues in detail one needs high contrast and high spatial resolution say~50μm. This X-ray optics comprises a Bragg asymmet-ric monochro-collimator and a Bragg case or a Laue case filter with capability of analyzing angle in a parallel posi-tion. Their diffraction index is 4,4,0 and the X-ray energy 35 keV (λ=0.0354 nm). The filter has 0.6 mm thickness in the Bragg case or 1.075 mm or 2.15 mm thickness in the Laue case. Under this condition only the refracted X-rays from object can transmit through the filter while the beam that may receive absorption and/or phase change will not.Soft tissues at human joints thus taken show high contrast images so that the DFI is promising for clinical diagnosis.Preliminary X-ray absorption images of another clinical candidates of ear bones are also shown.  相似文献

Among organic–inorganic hybrid molecules consisting of organic structure(s) and metal(s), only few studies are available on the cytotoxicity of nucleophilic molecules. In the present study, we investigated the cytotoxicity of a nucleophilic organotellurium compound, diphenyl ditelluride (DPDTe), using a cell culture system. DPDTe exhibited strong cytotoxicity against vascular endothelial cells and fibroblasts along with high intracellular accumulation but showed no cytotoxicity and had less accumulation in vascular smooth muscle cells and renal epithelial cells. The cytotoxicity of DPDTe decreased when intramolecular tellurium atoms were replaced with selenium or sulfur atoms. Electronic state analysis revealed that the electron density between tellurium atoms in DPDTe was much lower than those between selenium atoms of diphenyl diselenide and sulfur atoms of diphenyl disulfide. Moreover, diphenyl telluride did not accumulate and exhibit cytotoxicity. The cytotoxicity of DPDTe was also affected by substitution. p-Dimethoxy-DPDTe showed higher cytotoxicity, but p-dichloro-DPDTe and p-methyl-DPDTe showed lower cytotoxicity than that of DPDTe. The subcellular distribution of the compounds revealed that the compounds with stronger cytotoxicity showed higher accumulation rates in the mitochondria. Our findings suggest that the electronic state of tellurium atoms in DPDTe play an important role in accumulation and distribution of DPDTe in cultured cells. The present study supports the hypothesis that nucleophilic organometallic compounds, as well as electrophilic organometallic compounds, exhibit cytotoxicity by particular mechanisms.  相似文献

A lipid peroxidation reaction and methylene blue bleaching reaction are thought to proceed in the presence of methylene blue with linoleic acid as the substrate from the time lipoxygenase is added until methylene blue bleaching concludes. For 15 s after adding the lipoxygenase, neither the lipid peroxidation reaction nor the bleaching reaction occurred, but they both proceeded after that time period. The results suggested that hydroperoxide is first formed by the lipid peroxidation reaction, after which methylene blue specifically picks the hydrogen from the hydroperoxide 13-OOH isomers, and then the methylene blue is reduced.  相似文献

The compositions and microstructures, thermolyses, and sensitivities of 3,3-bis(azidomethyl)oxetane (BAMO) copolymers with 3-nitratomethyl-3-methyloxetane (NMMO) were characterized. The molar ratios of monomers fed in the copolymerizations were: BAMO/NMMO = 8/2, 7/3, and 6/4. The observed compositions were 81/19, 68/32, and 60/40, respectively. The relative compositions of trade microstructures were also exactly the same as theoretical values. The copolymerization of BAMO with NMMO behaved like an ideal system in the sense that the copolymer has approximately the same composition as the monomer fed. The microstructures of copolymers were also randomly arranged. Poly BAMO showed side chain decomposition in the initial stage of the thermolysis, on the other hand, backbone decomposition controlled the thermolysis of poly NMMO. The BAMO units and the NMMO units appeared to decompose more or less independently of one another and retained their individual decomposition characteristics despite being copolymerized. However, the heat generated by the NMMO decomposition, which occurred at 40°C lower than that of BAMO. activated the reaction of BAMO. Poly B/N(7/3) showed very interesting characteristics in sensitivities, mechanical properties, and the heat of decomposition.  相似文献

Vascular endothelial cells cover the luminal surface of blood vessels in a monolayer and play a role in the regulation of vascular functions, such as the blood coagulation-fibrinolytic system. When the monolayer is severely or repeatedly injured, platelets aggregate at the damaged site and release transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 in large quantities from their α-granules. Cadmium is a heavy metal that is toxic to various organs, including the kidneys, bones, liver, and blood vessels. Our previous study showed that the expression level of Zrt/Irt-related protein 8 (ZIP8), a metal transporter that transports cadmium from the extracellular fluid into the cytosol, is a crucial factor in determining the sensitivity of vascular endothelial cells to cadmium cytotoxicity. In the present study, TGF-β1 was discovered to potentiate cadmium-induced cytotoxicity by increasing the intracellular accumulation of cadmium in cells. Additionally, TGF-β1 induced the expression of ZIP8 via the activin receptor-like kinase 5-Smad2/3 signaling pathways; Smad3-mediated induction of ZIP8 was associated with or without p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK). These results suggest that the cytotoxicity of cadmium to vascular endothelial cells increases when damaged endothelial monolayers that are highly exposed to TGF-β1 are repaired.  相似文献

Surface passivation by SiN x films is indispensable for high-power operation of AlGaN/GaN heterojunction field-effect transistors (HFETs) since it can effectively suppress collapse in the drain current. So far, the plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique has been used for the SiN x deposition; however, possible damage induced by the plasma processing may affect direct-current performance or reliability. In this paper, we present subsequent deposition of SiN x ultrathin films on AlGaN/GaN in the same metalorganic chemical vapor deposition reactor. It is experimentally found that this in situ SiN x passivation doubles the sheet carrier density at the AlGaN/GaN interface from that of the unpassivated sample. High-resolution cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy reveals that in situ SiN x is crystallized on the AlGaN layer as island-like structures via the Stranski-Krastanov growth mode. The lattice constants of in situ SiN x are estimated to be a ≈ 3.2 Å and c ≈ 2.4 Å, which are quite different from those of well-known Si3N4 crystal structures. First-principles calculation predicts that the crystal structure of in situ SiN x is the defect wurtzite structure, which well explains the experimental results. The passivation technique using crystalline SiN x films would be promising for high-power and high-frequency applications of AlGaN/GaN HFETs.  相似文献

Melanoma is a skin tumor with high malignancy. Cases of melanoma have recently been reported from many hospitals around the world. Since melanoma is analogous with benign nevus, discriminating between melanoma and benign nevus is difficult for nonspecialists. A screening system for melanoma and benign nevus is desired. Melanoma is mainly diagnosed by features of specific shape and color. However, texture patterns within the tumor region can be diagnostically important. The purpose of this research was to classify patterns on the tumor surface. Digital images of a tumor were classified into 3 patterns by texture analysis: homogeneous pattern; globular pattern; and reticular pattern. The tumor part in the image was specified first, and the specified tumor part was divided into sub‐images. Texture features of each sub‐image were then calculated. Patterns were classified by discriminant analysis based on the number of texture features. As a result, patterns could be classified correctly into the three categories at a ratio of 94%. A total of 290 bile samples from 143 Japanese Brown, 97 Japanese Black, and 50 Holstein cattle, and a total of 148 liver samples from 81 Japanese Brown, 49 Japanese Black, and 18 Holstein cattle were examined for the presence of Campylobacter jejuni by direct plating. The bile samples were also subjected to enumeration of coliform bacilli. Sixty-eight (23%) bile samples and 2 (1.4%) liver samples were positive for C. jejuni. A significantly higher isolation rate was observed from bile samples from Holstein (50%) than from Japanese Black (22%) and Japanese Brown (15%) cattle. C. jejuni was isolated from 52 of 232 bile samples that contained < 30 CFU/ml (under the detection threshold) of coliform bacilli. The presence of C. jejuni from bile was observed throughout the year. Fifty-four of the 68 bile isolates were serologically typed into eight groups. Serotypes O:4 complex (28 isolates) and O:2 (11 isolates), which were commonly isolated from human patients in Japan, accounted for 57% of the isolates. These observations suggest that bile can be a cause of contamination with C. jejuni even though it contains only a low number of coliforms.  相似文献

Hollow inorganic particles have attracted great interest because of their unique physicochemical properties. In this study, hollow silica microparticles were prepared using a rod-shaped gram-negative bacterium, Escherichia coli (KP7600), as a biological template. Silica nanoparticles were generated in addition to coated biological templates when the reaction rate was increased, so control of reaction rate is important for coating silica smoothly onto the bacterial surface. Silica coating was also carried out using the fixed cells (with and without internal water) using glutaraldehyde as templates. When the fixed cells without internal water were used as templates, no rod-shaped particles were observed after calcination of the synthesized particles. By contrast, silica hollow particles were formed using the fixed cells with internal water as templates. This means that the internal water inside biological cells acts as an initiator for hydrolysis of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and results in the formation of smooth silica shell surface and indicates that the use of dry cultured bacteria templates is not required. Thus, there is a significant benefit in using gram-negative bacteria as templates for producing hollow silica microparticles, compared with the method using dried gram-positive bacteria templates.  相似文献
