Average self-diffusion coefficients of hydrated protons in sulfonated poly (ether sulfone) (SPES), Interpolymer and Nafion 117 membranes are measured by impedance spectroscopy and pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG NMR). Self-diffusion coefficient measured by impedance spectroscopy shows two patterns, one is at the low hydration states, i.e. λ = 2–4 and another at the high hydration states (starting from λ = 4). At lower hydration states the diffusion values increases slowly while steep increment is found at higher hydration level. PFG NMR shows similar trend throughout the measurements. The diffusion coefficients at higher temperatures are higher than at lower temperatures as a function of λ for SPES membrane. At the same value of λ, hydrated proton self-diffusion coefficient is found to be increased by 18% from 295.5 to 303 K. The thermo-mechanical properties of the membranes characterised by the means of DSC, TGA and DMA analysis show SPES, stable up to 450 °C and can be used for the high-temperature applications.  相似文献

Transmit antenna selection (TAS) is most popular technique in underlay cognitive radio (CR) networks as they increase the capacity of secondary users with less hardware requirements. In this paper, a new scenario of CR ad-hoc network topology is proposed in which apart from primary users, there are multiple number of secondary users which are assumed to be distributed as homogeneous spatial Poisson point process (PPP) and are trying to use the primary spectrum in underlay mode. These multiple secondary transmitters generate the aggregate interference and can degrade the performance of secondary receiver. Here this aggregate interference is estimated and its impact on performance of secondary receiver under unconstrained mode of operation is presented. Further, to enhance the performance of secondary receivers in this scenario, single TAS technique based on maximizing the received signal to interference noise ratio by using optimum combining (OC) method is proposed. Furthermore, in this work the design of end to end Simulink based environment for secondary trans–receiver system with advancements in channel design and estimation is proposed. The bit error rate (BER) analysis is presented and verified for image data for single TAS-OC technique for unconstrained mode in underlay CR network in Rician fading channel. The BER performance is also presented for different number of secondary interference sources which are located at fixed distance in one case and they are assumed to be distributed as PPP in another case.  相似文献

Cardiovascular events are the principal cause of mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT), a common complication of CKD, contributes to cardiac dysfunction. This study is an attempt to demonstrate the effects of parathyroid hormone suppression with oral calcitriol on cardiovascular hemodynamics. Twenty predialysis CKD patients with SHPT were given calcitriol therapy for 12 weeks. Ten similar patients received placebo. Echocardiographic assessment of cardiac function was performed at baseline and after 12 weeks of treatment. Calcitriol therapy effectively suppressed SHPT. Baseline left ventricular (LV) end diastolic diameter and LV end systolic diameter were 4.86+/-0.48 and 2.86+/-0.33 cm, and the mean FS was 41.02+/-4.79%. Left ventricular end systolic and end diastolic volumes were normal (42.30+/-9.07 and 91.40+/-19.68 mL). The ejection fraction was slightly reduced (53.54+/-3.57%). Pretreatment Doppler indices including E velocity (0.816+/-0.087 m/s), A velocity (0.696+/-0.089 m/s), and E/A ratio (1.193+/-0.210) were significantly impaired. After 12 weeks of calcitriol therapy, there was no significant change in the LV dimensions or ejection fraction, but there was a significant improvement in the diastolic parameters, namely the A velocity (0.680+/-0.084) and E/A ratio (1.238+/-0.180). Secondary hyperparathyroidism is an important factor in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular complications in CKD. There is evidence to support that correction of hyperparathyroidism can improve the systolic dysfunction seen in advanced kidney disease. This study shows that diastolic dysfunction seen in predialysis CKD patients may also be possibly improved with calcitriol therapy.  相似文献

Imprint lithography has emerged as a reliable, reproducible, and rapid method for patterning colloidal nanostructures. As a promising alternative to top-down lithographic approaches, the fabrication of nanodevices has thus become effective and straightforward. In this study, a fusion of interference lithography (IL) and nanosphere imprint lithography on various target substrates ranging from carbon film on transmission electron microscope grid to inorganic and dopable polymer semiconductor is reported. 1D plasmonic photonic crystals are printed with 75% yield on the centimeter scale using colloidal ink and an IL-produced polydimethylsiloxane stamp. Atomically smooth facet, single-crystalline, and monodisperse colloidal building blocks of gold (Au) nanoparticles are used to print 1D plasmonic grating on top of a titanium dioxide (TiO2) slab waveguide, producing waveguide-plasmon polariton modes with superior 10 nm spectral line-width. Plasmon-induced hot electrons are confirmed via two-terminal current measurements with increased photoresponsivity under guiding conditions. The fabricated hybrid structure with Au/TiO2 heterojunction enhances photocatalytic processes like degradation of methyl orange (MO) dye molecules using the generated hot electrons. This simple colloidal printing technique demonstrated on silicon, glass, Au film, and naphthalenediimide polymer thus marks an important milestone for large-scale implementation in optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

Objective: The present study discusses folic acid-etoricoxib-bovine serum albumin nanoparticles (F-ETX-NPs) using folic acid as an over expressed folate receptor ligand for activated macrophages in targeting of rheumatoid arthritis.

Materials and methods: For this purpose etoricoxib-loaded BSA nanoparticles (ETX-NPs) were prepared by desolvation method and activated folic acid conjugation with free amine group of BSA was confirmed by FTIR study and zeta potential measurements.

Results: The F-ETX-NPs showed spherical in shape with 215.8?±?3.2?nm average size?+?7.8?mV zeta potential, 72?±?1.3% etoricoxib entrapment efficiency and showed 93.1?±?2.2% cumulative etoricoxib release upto 72?h. The etoricoxib concentration from F-ETX-NPs was found to be 9.67?±?0.34?µg/g in inflamed joint after 24?h administration revealed remarkably targeting potential to the activated macrophages cells and keep at a high level during the experiment.

Discussion and conclusion: These results suggest that F-ETX-NPs are potentially vector for activated macrophages cells targeting of rheumatoid arthritis.  相似文献

There are many challenges in developing efficient and target specific delivery systems of small molecule and nucleic acid drugs. Cell membrane presents one of the major barriers for the penetration of hydrophilic macromolecules across the plasma membrane. Nanocarriers have been designed to enhance their cellular uptake via endocytosis but following their cellular uptake, endosomal escape is the rate limiting step which restricts the value associated with the enhanced uptake by nanocarriers. Viruses are an excellent model for efficient cytosolic delivery by nanocarriers. Viruses exploit intracellular cues to release the genome to cytosol. In this review, we first discuss different endocytic uptake pathways and endosomal escape mechanisms. We then summarize the existing tools for studying the intracellular trafficking of nanocarriers. Finally, we highlight the important design elements of recent virus-based nanocarriers for efficient cellular uptake and endosomal escape.  相似文献

We introduce time‐mode circuits, a set of basic circuit building blocks for analog computation using a temporal step function representation for the inputs and outputs. These novel time‐mode circuits are low power, provide good noise performance and offer improved dynamic range. The design, IC implementation and detailed theoretical signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) analysis of a prototype time‐mode circuit—a weighted average computation circuit—are discussed. This new way of computation is studied with respect to existing conventional voltage‐mode and current‐mode circuits. Two possible applications of these time‐mode circuits are presented: an edge detection circuit for 16 pixels and a 3‐tap FIR filter that provides an SNR of 64 dB. The increased demand for energy, climate change, and energy security concerns has driven the research interest for the development of alternative fuel from plant origin. Biodiesel derived from plant oils, which include edible and non-edible oil have gained interest for the last two decades as alternative for diesel around the world. Among these plant origin oils more than 95% of biodiesel production feedstocks come from edible oils, because they are readily available in many regions. The major advantage of these feedstocks is the properties of biodiesel produced from them are suitable to be used as diesel fuel substitute. But the consequence is the increase demand of the feedstock for food as well as fuel. A sustainable alternative fuel should be derived from renewable non-food biomass sources. The main objective of this review is to give an overview on the synthesis of biodiesel through esterification and transesterification using non-edible oil resources which are available in India, and available processes for synthesis of biodiesel (acid-, base-catalyzed transesterification reactions (homogeneous and heterogeneous), their importance, and which is the commercial process also discussed here.  相似文献

The central theme of this paper is multiplicative polynomial dimensional decomposition (PDD) methods for solving high‐dimensional stochastic problems. When a stochastic response is dominantly of multiplicative nature, the standard PDD approximation, predicated on additive function decomposition, may not provide sufficiently accurate probabilistic solutions of a complex system. To circumvent this problem, two multiplicative versions of PDD, referred to as factorized PDD and logarithmic PDD, were developed. Both versions involve a hierarchical, multiplicative decomposition of a multivariate function, a broad range of orthonormal polynomial bases for Fourier‐polynomial expansions of component functions, and a dimension‐reduction or sampling technique for estimating the expansion coefficients. Three numerical problems involving mathematical functions or uncertain dynamic systems were solved to corroborate how and when a multiplicative PDD is more efficient or accurate than the additive PDD. The results show that indeed, both the factorized and logarithmic PDD approximations can effectively exploit the hidden multiplicative structure of a stochastic response when it exists. Since a multiplicative PDD recycles the same component functions of the additive PDD, no additional cost is incurred. Finally, the random eigensolutions of a sport utility vehicle comprising 40 random variables were evaluated, demonstrating the ability of the new methods to solve industrial‐scale problems. Performance of Kenics static mixer over a wide range of Reynolds number   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The present study deals with the numerical simulation of flow patterns and mixing behaviour in Kenics static mixer over a wide range of Reynolds number. Three different sets of Kenics mixer (aspect ratio = 1.5) comprised of 3, 9 and 25 elements each have been characterized. The Reynolds number was varied in the range of 1 to 25,000 (i.e., from laminar to turbulent flow regime). The numerical approach takes into account the aspects of the fluid flow at higher Reynolds number values including circumferential velocity profiles at different cross-sections within the Kenics mixer, which were neglected in previous studies. It was observed that cross-sectional mixing in the turbulent flow regime takes place up to 30% of each element length at element-to-element transition; beyond that velocity profiles were uniform. The experiments were also carried out to measure the circumferential and axial velocity profiles and pressure drop in three different Kenics Mixers using air as fluid. The pressure drop per unit element (ΔP/η) was found to be independent of the number of Kenics mixing elements used in the system. The total pressure drop across Kenics mixer obtained by CFD simulations were compared with the experimental pressure drop values and correlations available in the literature. The numerical results were found in good agreement with the experimental as well as the results reported in the literature. A new pressure drop correlation in the Kenics static mixer has been developed.  相似文献
