Strontium titanate (STO) films were directly deposited on Ib (100) single crystal diamond by r.f. magnetron sputtering. The as-deposited STO film was in amorphous state. On the other hand, the crystalline STO film was obtained under the optimized condition of a deposition temperature of 250 °C and a post-annealing temperature of 650 °C. STO/diamond junctions were fabricated on boron-doped homoepitaxial layers grown on p+-type single crystal diamond substrates. Electrical properties of the STO/diamond junction were investigated by changing the surface terminations of diamond with hydrogen or oxygen and the crystallinity of the STO film. It was found that the amorphous STO acted like a semi-insulator on H-diamond surface and that the amorphous STO/O-diamond junction behaved like a Schottky diode. The crystalline STO/O-diamond showed a complex rectifying behavior. The crystalline STO film possessed a higher dielectric constant as compared to that of the amorphous one.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: Although the molecular mechanism of obesity has been poorly understood, recent studies indicate that leptin plays a critical role in regulating both food intake and body weight. Because obesity decreases the sensitivity to insulin, the human ob gene is presumed to be one of the candidate genes for non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) associated with obesity. Although the protein coding region in the ob gene has been screened for mutations, the promoter region and the non-coding first exon have not yet been studied. We investigated the involvement of the human ob gene, especially mutations at the promoter region and the non-coding first exon, in the development of NIDDM associated with obesity. SUBJECTS: The study group comprised 60 Japanese obese subjects with NIDDM (body mass index (BMI) 43.6 > or = BMI > or = 26.4, 29.0+/-0.41 (mean+/-S.E.M.)) and 24 obese individuals with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) (30 > or = BMI > or = 26.4, 27.1+/-0.22). METHODS: Mutations at both the promoter region and all three exons in the human ob gene were screened by the single-stranded conformational polymorphism analysis. When aberrantly migrated bands were recognized, the PCR-amplified DNA fragment was directly sequenced. RESULTS: In the protein coding region a silent mutation in the second exon was detected. The non-coding first exon and the about 100 bp 5'-flanking region of the gene which contains a proximal CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein site were screened, but no mutations were found. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that no mutations in either the promoter region at the about 100 bp 5'-flanking region of the gene, or in any of the three exons, are involved in the development of NIDDM or IGT associated with obesity.  相似文献

Thermal properties by DSC, stiffness, melt viscosity, tensile properties, and dynamic mechanical properties were measured for the Na+, K+, Mg2+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Mn2+, and Co2+ salts of poly(ethylene-co-methacrylic acid) (EMAA). The changes in the structure and properties with increasing neutralization are larger in the alkaline and alkaline earth metal salts than in the transition metal salts. The stiffness shows a maximum at 33% neutralization in both the alkaline and alkaline earth metal salts, while no maxima are found up to 60% neutralization in the transition metal salts. The microphase separation of salt group aggregates is observed in both the alkaline and alkaline earth metal salts, but is not seen in the transition metal salts. These differences were attributed to both the stronger ionic interactions and the larger number of carboxyl groups associated with the alkaline and alkaline earth metal salts in the ordered structure of ionic salt groups (ionic crystallites). The mechanical properties measured at low strain, such as stiffness and yield stress, strongly depend on the degree of the crystalline order of the ionic crystallites. The high-strain properties, such as tensile strength and elongation at break, depend on the strength of the ionic interactions and the valence of the cation.  相似文献

This paper reports our experiment on training a three layer forwards neural network with backpropagation algorithm (BP) to memorise acoustic emission (AE) behaviors of magnesium alloy during fatigue test process and perform the mapping from AE behaviors to fatigue crack propagation. This study reveals the potential possibility of using artificial neural networks for automated AE testing. Simulation results are very encouraging and conclusively in favor of this attempt.  相似文献

1. Kinase assay in myelin basic protein (MBP) containing polyacrylamide gels revealed that endothelin-1 (ET-1) and ET-3 increased MBP kinase activities in glomerular mesangial cells (MC) from Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats and spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHRSP). ET-1 stimulated MBP kinase activities more potently than ET-3. 2. Immunoprecipitation with anti-41-kDa MAPK antiserum showed that the MBP kinases activated by ET-1 correspond to 43- and 41-kDa MAPK. 3. Since Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate, a direct activator of protein kinase C, also activated MAPK, protein kinase C was suggested to mediate ET-induced activation of MAPK. 4. These results suggest that MAPK may mediate the ET actions in glomerular mesangial cells from normotensive rats as well as spontaneously hypertensive rats. Since ET is produced by vascular endothelial cells of the kidney and glomerular mesangial cells, the ET signalling pathway may have some physiological and pathophysiological significance in vivo glomerulus.  相似文献

An optical time domain reflectometer was newly constructed by using a high power Nd:YAG laser operating at a wavelength of 1.32 ?m and a TeO2 acousto-optical light deflector. A method of time-series analysis, applicable to nonstationary data, was developed to be used as a tool for surveillance and diagnosis of nuclear power plants. In this method, the nonstationary data are divided into a set of consecutive blocks and a parametric model, called the autoregressive (AR) model, is estimated for each of the blocks. The model parameters are determined by a least-squares algorithm based on the Householder transformation, which ensures a high numerical stability even when the number of samples used for model determination is small. Time-dependent variations of the statistical properties of the measured noise data are characterized by the blockwise evolution of the noise signatures derived from the AR models. As an empirical evaluation, the method was applied to data generated by simulation, and to data obtained from a BWR also. The advantages of the present method over the conventional AR method in numerical stability, spectral resolution and detectability of anomalies have been demonstrated through the analysis of these sample problems.  相似文献

A membrane bioreactor (MBR) is a promising wastewater treatment technology, but there is a need for efficient control of membrane fouling, which increases operational and maintenance costs. Soluble microbial products (SMP) have been reported to act as major foulants in the operation of MBRs used for wastewater treatment. In this study, SMP in MBRs operated with different sludge retention times (SRTs) were investigated by means of various analytical techniques and their relations to the evolution of membrane fouling were considered. Bench-scale filtration experiments were carried out in a laboratory with synthetic wastewater to eliminate fluctuations that would occur with the use of real wastewater and that would lead to fluctuations in compositions of SMP. Three identical submerged MBRs were operated for about 50 days under the same conditions except for SRT (17, 51 and 102 days). Accumulation of SMP in the MBRs estimated by conventional analytical methods (i.e., the phenol-sulfuric acid method and the Lowry method) was significant in the cases of short SRTs. However, the degrees of membrane fouling in the MBRs were not directly related to the concentrations of SMP in the reactors estimated by the conventional analytical methods. Non-conventional analytical methods such as excitation-emission matrix (EEM) fluorescence spectroscopy revealed that characteristics of SMP in the three reactors considerably differed depending on SRT. Foulants were extracted from the fouled membranes at the end of the operation and were compared with SMP in each MBR. It was clearly shown that characteristics of the foulants were different depending on SRT, and similarities between SMP and the extracted foulants were recognized in each MBR on the basis of results of EEM measurements. However, such similarities were not found on the basis of results obtained by using the conventional methods for analysis of SMP. The results of this study suggest that the use of conventional methods for analysis of SMP is not appropriate for investigation of membrane fouling in MBRs.  相似文献
