A contactless power transfer system for electric vehicles must have high efficiency, a large air gap, good tolerance to misalignment in the lateral direction, compactness, and light weight. In this paper, a new 1.5‐kW transformer has been developed using a novel H‐shaped core which is more efficient, more robust to misalignment, and lighter than previous rectangular cores, to satisfy these criteria, and its characteristics are described. An efficiency of 95% was achieved across a 70‐mm mechanical gap. Iron‐loss modeling of the equivalent circuit is also presented. The calculated efficiency using this model shows good agreement with experimental results. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The effect of drilling on the permeability of Japanese cedar and the bending properties of resin treated compressed wood were examined. Compressed wood was manufactured by impregnating aqueous phenolic resin solutions into the heartwood through drilled holes and polymerizing the impregnated resins using a hot press to maintain the deformation. The compressive deformation was carried out at 150°C for 1 h to one-half of the original specimen thickness. A dye solution permeated the entire specimen when the density of drilled holes exceeded approximately 5000?holes/m2. When the compressed wood was manufactured under the drilling condition, the resin type was found to greatly affect the bending strength and the failure mode of the specimens in bending test. 相似文献

We investigated and analyzed faults in field installable connection due to incorrectly cleaved fiber ends and manufactured physical contact (PC)-type connectors with contaminated end surfaces in optical access fiber networks. The insertion and return losses of fiber connections using incorrectly cleaved fiber ends might be at worst more than 40 dB and less than 30 dB, respectively. With PC-type connectors whose end surfaces are contaminated, the insertion and return losses might be at worst 8.7 and 27 dB, respectively. We developed an inspection tool for cleaved fiber ends and connector end surfaces as a countermeasure. The proposed tool has a simple structure and does not require focal adjustment. It can be used to inspect and clearly determine whether a fiber has been cleaved correctly and whether there is contamination or scratches on the connector end surfaces. The tool requires a slight increase of 11% in operation time compared to conventional fiber end preparation and assembly procedures. The proposed tool provides a simple and cost-effective way to inspect cleaved fiber ends and connector end surfaces and is suitable for field use. 相似文献

Chitiniphilus shinanonensis type strain SAY3(T) is a strongly chitinolytic bacterium, originally isolated from the moat water in Ueda, Japan. To elucidate the chitinolytic activity of this strain, 15 genes (chiA-chiO) coding for putative chitin-degrading enzymes were isolated from a genomic library. Sequence analysis revealed the genes comprised 12 family 18 chitinases, a family 19 chitinase, a family 20 β-N-acetylglucosaminidase, and a polypeptide with a chitin-binding domain but devoid of a catalytic domain. Two operons were detected among the sequences: chiCDEFG and chiLM. The gene coding for the polypeptide (chiN) showed sequence similarity to family 19 chitinases and was successfully expressed in Escherichia coli. ChiN demonstrated a multi-domain structure, composed of the N-terminal, two chitin-binding domains connected by a Pro- and Thr-rich linker, and a family 19 catalytic domain located at the C-terminus. The recombinant protein rChiN catalyzed an endo-type cleavage of N-acetyl-d-glucosamine oligomers, and also degraded insoluble chitin and soluble chitosan (degree of deacetylation of 80%). rChiN exhibited an inhibitory effect on hyphal growth of the fungus Trichoderma reesei. The chitin-binding domains of ChiN likely play an important role in the degradation of insoluble chitin, and are responsible for a growth inhibitory effect on fungi. 相似文献

The presence of iodine chemistry, hypothesized due to the overprediction of HO(2) levels by a photochemical box model at Rishiri Island in June 2000, was quantitatively tested against the observed NO/NO(2) ratios and the net production rates of ozone. The observed NO/NO(2) ratios were reproduced reasonably well by considering the conversion of NO to NO(2) by IO, whose amount was calculated so as to reproduce the observed HO(2) levels. However, the net production rates of ozone were calculated to be negative when such high mixing ratios of IO were considered, which was inconsistent with the observed buildup of ozone during daytime. These results suggest that iodine chemistry may not be the sole mechanism for the reduced mixing ratios of HO(2), or that "hot spots" for iodine chemistry were present. Diurnal variations in the mixing ratios of HCHO, CH(3)CHO, peroxy acetyl nitrate (PAN) and HNO(3) observed during the study are presented along with the simulated ones. The box model simulations suggest that the effect of iodine chemistry on these concentrations is small and that important sources of CH(3)CHO and sinks of PAN are probably missing from our current understanding of the tropospheric chemistry mechanism. 相似文献

We demonstrate that the atomic structures, electronic states, and bonding nature of the interface between SrTiO3 substrate and anatase TiO2 thin films could be related and technologically manipulated at the atomic level. Applying advanced transmission electron
microscopy, the grown anatase TiO2 thin films are found to make a clean and direct contact to the SrTiO3 substrates in an epitaxial, coherent, and atomically abrupt way. The atomic-resolution microscopic images reveal that the
interface comprises SrO-terminated SrTiO3 and Ti-terminated TiO2 with the interfacial Ti of TiO2 sitting above the hollow site, which is confirmed theoretically to be the most energetically favorable. Quantitatively, the
first-principles calculations predict that the oxygen sublattice at the interface undergoes a notable reconstruction, i.e.,
the interfacial O atoms of TiO2 are displaced largely toward the SrO plane of the SrTiO3, flattening the originally zigzag TiO2 atomic chains. Consequently, the interfacial layers suffer a remarkable modification in the charge accumulation and also
a deviation in the density of states from their bulk counterparts, indicating that the substrate can have an impact on the
deposited thin films electronically. Using several analytic methods, the SrTiO3/TiO2 interface is found to take on a metallic nature, and the interfacial bonding is determined to be of a mixed covalent and
ionic character. This combined experimental and theoretical investigation gains insight into the complex atomic and electronic
structures of the buried interface, which are fundamental for relating the atomic-scale structures to their properties on

Peritoneal dissemination of pancreatic cancer has a poor prognosis. We have reported that intraperitoneal radioimmunotherapy using a 64Cu-labeled antibody (64Cu-ipRIT) is a promising adjuvant therapy option to prevent this complication. To achieve personalized 64Cu-ipRIT, we developed a new in vitro tumor cell-binding assay (64Cu-TuBA) system with a panel containing nine candidate 64Cu-labeled antibodies targeting seven antigens (EGFR, HER2, HER3, TfR, EpCAM, LAT1, and CD98), which are reportedly overexpressed in patients with pancreatic cancer. We investigated the feasibility of 64Cu-TuBA to select the highest-binding antibody for individual cancer cell lines and predict the treatment response in vivo for 64Cu-ipRIT. 64Cu-TuBA was performed using six human pancreatic cancer cell lines. For three cell lines, an in vivo treatment study was performed with 64Cu-ipRIT using high-, middle-, or low-binding antibodies in each peritoneal dissemination mouse model. The high-binding antibodies significantly prolonged survival in each mouse model, while low-and middle-binding antibodies were ineffective. There was a correlation between in vitro cell binding and in vivo therapeutic efficacy. Our findings suggest that 64Cu-TuBA can be used for patient selection to enable personalized 64Cu-ipRIT. Tumor cells isolated from surgically resected tumor tissues would be suitable for analysis with the 64Cu-TuBA system in future clinical studies. 相似文献

Body-mounted accelerometers provide a new prospect for estimating power use in flying birds, as the signal varies with the two major kinematic determinants of aerodynamic power: wingbeat frequency and amplitude. Yet wingbeat frequency is sometimes used as a proxy for power output in isolation. There is, therefore, a need to understand which kinematic parameter birds vary and whether this is predicted by flight mode (e.g. accelerating, ascending/descending flight), speed or morphology. We investigate this using high-frequency acceleration data from (i) 14 species flying in the wild, (ii) two species flying in controlled conditions in a wind tunnel and (iii) a review of experimental and field studies. While wingbeat frequency and amplitude were positively correlated, R2 values were generally low, supporting the idea that parameters can vary independently. Indeed, birds were more likely to modulate wingbeat amplitude for more energy-demanding flight modes, including climbing and take-off. Nonetheless, the striking variability, even within species and flight types, highlights the complexity of describing the kinematic relationships, which appear sensitive to both the biological and physical context. Notwithstanding this, acceleration metrics that incorporate both kinematic parameters should be more robust proxies for power than wingbeat frequency alone. 相似文献
