Potato starch is unique because of its high starch phosphorus content. The textural characteristics of potato starch change due to the presence of the starch phosphate. Thus, the measurement of phosphorus in potato starch is needed, but conventional methods require a considerable amount of time and labour. In this investigation, a simple and fast analytical procedure has been developed for the determination of the phosphorus content of potato starch with a non-destructive energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) technique. Potato starch samples were analyzed as pressed pellets using detection times of 200 s. Reference values, measured by a conventional method, namely, wet chemical analysis, were used to calibrate the ED-XRF. Calibration was done using 20 potato starch samples, and the results were validated using a second set of 15 samples. The results indicated the validity of ED-XRF as a rapid and non-destructive method for the quantitative determination of phosphorus content of potato starch. Based on the combined results of ED-XRF and Rapid Visco-Analyzer (RVA), ED-XRF is promising for predicting the peak viscosity, by RVA, of potato starch paste through the measurement of starch phosphorus content.  相似文献

A multiplex PCR method was developed for simultaneous detection of Salmonella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, and Escherichia coli O157:H7 in meat samples. DNA detection sensitivity for this method was 10(3) CFU/ml for each pathogen. When this protocol was used for the detection of each of the above pathogenic bacteria in spiked pork samples, 1 cell per 25 g of inoculated sample could be detected within 30 h. In the samples of naturally contaminated meat, Salmonella spp., L. monocytogenes, and E. coli O157:H7 were detected over the same time period. Excellent agreement was obtained for the results of multiplex PCR and the conventional culture method, which suggests that the multiplex PCR is a reliable and useful method for rapid screening of meat products for Salmonella spp., L. monocytogenes, and E. coli O157:H7 contamination.  相似文献

The effect of annealing on the impact strength of PP/poly(ethylene-co-propylene) (PEP) and PP/PEP/PE blends was studied with regard to the structure of PEP and the polyethylene crystallinity. The tensile impact strength of annealed blends was remarkably affected by the PEP structure such as molecular weight and comonomer composition and the annealing temperature, while the brittle temperature was scarcely affected. For the PP/PEP/PE blends, annealing at temperatures above the melting point of PE lowers the tensile impact strength in a similar manner as the PP/crystalline PEP blend. These phenomena were explained on the basis of the deformation mechanism presented in the previous article, that is, a thicker interfacial layer of PP and PEP forms by means of annealing to increase the energy needed to deform the interface. By using a scanning electron microscope, the transition layer was observed at the interface between amorphous PEP and PE in the PP/amorphous PEP/PE blend after etching with nitric acid. The formation of a thicker transition layer between amorphous PEP and PE and a sizeable increase in PE particle size by annealing was observed. The phenomena should be correlated with the impact sensitivity, especially tensile impact strength, in the PP/crystalline PEP and PP/amorphous PEP/PE blends. A reasonable explanation of the microstructure in PP/PEP blends has been developed in terms of comonomer composition and melting property of PEP.  相似文献

Homopolymers of cetyldimethyl(4-vinylbenzyl)ammonium chloride (VB16), lauryl-dimethyl(4-vinylbenzyl)ammonium chloride (VB12), and trimethyl (4-vinylbenzyl)ammonium chloride (VB1), and copolymers of these compounds with acrylonitrile were examined for antibacterial activity using B. subtilis, S. aureus, E. coli, and P. aeruginosa. All homopolymers and copolymers showed germicidal action to the bacterias, especially strong action to gram-positive B. subtilis and S. aureus. The strength of the germicidal action of the quaternary ammonium branches was in the order: VB16 > VB12 ? VB1.  相似文献

Mod.9Cr–1Mo steel has been used for boiler components in ultra-supercritical (USC) thermal power plants. The creep strength of welded joint of this steel decreases due to the formation of Type IV cracking in heat affected zone (HAZ) at higher temperatures. The present paper aims to clarify the damage processes and mechanisms of the welded joint for Mod.9Cr–1Mo steel. Long-term creep tests of base metal, welded joint and simulated fine- grained HAZ were conducted at 550, 600 and 650 °C. Creep tests using thick plate welded joint specimen were interrupted at several time steps, and evolutions and distributions of creep damages were measured quantitatively using laser microscope. It is found that creep voids initiate at early stage of creep life (0.2 of life), the number of creep voids increases until 0.7 of life, and then voids coalesced into the macro crack at the later stage of life (0.8 of life). Creep damages concentrate mostly at a quarter depths of the plate thickness within the fine-grained HAZ of the present welded joint. The experimental creep damage distributions were compared with the computed results by using the FEM analysis. Both creep strain concentration and high stress triaxiality in fine-grained HAZ of welded joint are considered to accelerate the creep void formation and growth.  相似文献

Abstract-The high-power piezoelectric characteristics in h001i oriented ceramics of bismuth layer structured ferroelectrics (BLSF), SrBi(2)Nb(2)O(9) (SBN), (Bi,La)(4)Ti(3)O(12) (BLT), and CaBi(4)Ti(4)O(15) (CBT), were studied by a constant voltage driving method. These textured ceramics were fabricated by a templated grain growth (TGG) method, and their Lotgering factors were 95%, 97%, and 99%, respectively. The vibration velocities of the longitudinal mode (33-mode) increased proportionally to an applied electric field up to 2.5 m/s in these textured BLSF ceramics, although, the vibration velocity of the 33-mode was saturated at more than 1.0 m/s in the Pb(Mn,Nb)O(3)-PZT ceramics. The resonant frequencies were constant up to the vibration velocity of 2.5 m/s in the SBN and CBT textured ceramics; however, the resonant frequency decreased with increasing over the vibration velocity of 1.5 m/s in the BLT textured ceramics. The dissipation power density of the BLT was almost the same as that of the Pb(Mn,Nb)O(3)-PZT ceramics. However, the dissipation power densities of the SBN and CBT were lower than those of the BLT and Pb(Mn,Nb)O(3)-PZT ceramics. The textured SBN and CBT ceramics are good candidates for high-power piezoelectric applications.  相似文献

The relationship between the occupational exposure limits (OEL) and the lethal dose 50 (LD50) values of rats or mice for metals and metallic compounds was statistically analyzed by a stepwise multivariate regression method. The OEL values were predicted from LD50 values and metallic compensation coefficients (MCC), which were developed as the regression coefficients of dummy variables that represented the metallic element contained in the substance of interest. The value of the MCC indicated the extent of the adverse health effects of the metal in the substance. Smaller values of the MCC were assigned to metals that would have the more severe adverse health effects, such as carcinogenesis, while larger values were given to the less toxic metals. The Health Index (HI) based on the OEL values was proposed as a convenient measure of the toxicity of industrial products. The prediction method could be applied to toxicity risk assessments by using the HI when a designer of consumer products wants to use substances for which OEL values have not been determined. Two case studies were conducted to estimate the potential toxicity of materials used in solders and in rechargeable batteries.  相似文献

This study investigated the possible relationships between exposures to mite allergen and airborne fungi with sick building syndrome (SBS) symptoms for residents living in newly built dwellings. We randomly sampled 5709 newly built dwellings in six prefectures from northern to southern Japan. A total of 1479 residents in 425 households participated in the study by completing questionnaire surveys and agreeing to environmental monitoring for mite allergen (Der 1), airborne fungi, aldehydes, and volatile organic compounds. Stepwise logistic regression analyses adjusted for confounders were used to obtain odds ratios (OR) of mite allergen and fungi for SBS symptoms. Der 1 had a significantly high OR for nose symptoms. Rhodotorula had a significantly high OR for any symptoms, and Aspergillus had significantly high OR for eye symptoms. However, the total colony-forming units had a significantly low OR for throat and respiratory symptoms. Eurotium had a significantly low OR for skin symptoms. In conclusion, dust-mite allergen levels and indoor airborne Rhodotorula and Aspergillus concentrations may result in SBS symptoms in newly built dwellings. PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: Various factors can cause sick building syndrome symptoms. This study focused on biologic factors such as dust-mite allergen and airborne fungi in newly built dwellings in Japan. Dust-mite allergen levels were significantly associated with higher rates of nose symptoms, airborne Rhodotorula concentrations were significantly associated with higher rates of any symptoms, and Aspergillus concentrations were significantly associated with higher rates of eye symptoms. Measures should be taken to reduce mite allergen levels and fungal concentrations in these dwellings.  相似文献
